        돼지 삼출성표피염(渗出性表皮炎)에 관한 연구(硏究) : II. 돼지유래(由來) Staphylococcus hyicus subsp. hyicus의 혈청형별(血淸型別)

        The serological typing of staphylococcus hyicus subsp. hyicus isolated from pigs with exudative epidermitis and healthy pigs was attempted by slide agglutination technique with absorbed sera prepared from antisera against swine strains of the organism. Of 204 Staph. hyicus subsp. hyicus isolated, 202 (99.0%) were classified into 6 serotypes tentatively designated as A, B, C, D, E and F. The organisms were found to possess common antigens and a strain specific antigen. In 26 epizootics of exudative epidermitis, type A was found in 4(15.4%), type B in 12(46.2%), type C in 9(34.6%) and type E in 1(3.8%). All of the piglets of each affected litter were infected by serologically identical strain. In 178 strains isolated from the skin of healthy pigs, type A was found in 14.1%, type B in 23.0%, type C in 30.3%, type D in 1.7%, type E in 7.9% and type F in 21.9%, and 2 strains were untypable. There was a difference in the occurrence of serotypes of Staph. hyicus subsp. hyicus among the farms examined.

        젖소 유방염유래(乳房炎由來) Gram 음성간균(陰性桿菌)의 Ampicillin 내성(耐性) 및 전달성(傳達性) β-Lactamase Plasmids

        One hundred and twenty seven strains of Gram-negative rods (72 E. coli, 45 Klebsieila pneumoniae, 8 Enterobacter spp. and 2 Pseudomonas aeruginosa) isolated from bovine mastitis were examined for resistance to ampicilin, carbenicillin and cefazolin, ${\beta}$-lactamase activity and transferable ${\beta}$-lactamase plasmids. Stains resistant to ampicillin were 13.9% in E. coli, 93.3% in Klebsiella pneumoniae, 87.5% in Enterobacter. spp. and all in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Resistance of E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter spp. to ampicillin was due to the ${\beta}$-lactamases, but all Pseudomonas aeruginosa exhibited a high level of the non-enzymic resistance. Transferable plasmid-mediated ${\beta}$-lactamase synthesis was demonstrated in 61.9% of Klebsiella pneumoniae, 50% of E. coli and 42.9% of Enterobacter spp. The same ${\beta}$-lactamase plasmids specified different resistance levels to various ${\beta}$-lactam antibiotics in different recipients.

        비육한우(肥育韓牛)에 집단발생(集團發生)한 콕시듐증(症)

        Enteritis occured in a herd of Korean native cattle in Gyeonbug district in February 1977. of 40 cattle ranging in age from 15 to 20 months, 17 had been sick for the past six days with main clinical findings of feces containing mucus and blood. Among affected cattle, feces of 8 cattle were examined bacteriologically and parasitologically to investigate the causative agent. The disease was diagnosed as bovine coccidiosis caused by Eimeria zurnii based on the detection of $o{\ddot{o}}cysts$ and one of cattle was infected E. bukidnonensis, too.

        축우(畜牛)에서 분리(分離)한 Corynebacterium renale의 각종(各種) 항균제(抗菌劑)에 대(對)한 감수성(感受性)

        In order to know the current status of sensitivity of Corynebacterium renale to some antimicrobial agents of current use, the sensitivity of 37 strains isolated from urine and vaginal cavity of healthy Korean native cattle and dairy cattle was studied by agar plate dilution method, and their sensitivity according to serological types was compared. The antimicrobial agents tested were streptomycin (SM), erythromycin (EM), oxytetracycline (OT), penicillin G (PC), gentamycin (GM), kanamycin (KM), ampicillin (AP), leucomycin (LM), chloramphenicol (CM), colistin (CL), sulfadimethoxine (SDM) and sulfadiazine (SDZ). Most strains were highly sensitive to PC, GM, AP, LM and KM, and moderate to CM and OT, but resistant to SM, EM, CL, SDM and SDZ. Serological type II was more sensitive to EM, SDM and SDZ than type I and II, but more resistant to SM.

        소에서 분리(分離)한 Escherichia coli의 항생물질내성(抗生物質耐性) 및 전달성내성인자(傳達性耐性因子)의 분포(分布)

        One hundred and fifty seven Escherichia coli strains isolated from 18 cattle (9 dairy cattle received penicillin, streptomycin (SM) or sulfadimethoxine for treatment of diseases and 9 Korean native cattle not received antibiotics) were studied for the drug resistance and distribution of R factors. Of 88 E. coli strains isolated from cattle not received antibiotics, only 1 strain was resistant to SM, but about 46 per cent of 69 E. coli strains isolated from cattle received antibiotics were resistant to SM, tetracycline (TC), ampicillin (AP), kanamycin (KM), chloramphenicol (CM), and sulfisomidine (Su), alone or in combination thereof. Of resistant strains, about 72% were resistant to three or more antibiotics, but 28% were found to singly resistant. The most frequent resistant pattern was triple resistance to AP, KM and Su (37.6%), and quadruple one to SM, TC, CM and Su (12.5%). About 28% of resistant strains carried R factors which were transferable to E. coli ML 1410 $NA^r$ by conjugation.

        In order to know the main causative agent and distribution of the agents in Gram-negative bacillus infections of bovine udders, one hundred and forty-eight cultures of Gram-negative bacilli isolated from clinical cases of mastitis during lactation over a period of 2 years in 6 herds of 180 Holstein cows were studied. Escherichia coli occupied 54.7% of the isolates was the most frequently isolated Gram-negative bacillus. 30 of the isolates (20.3%) were Enterobacter aerogenes, but Enterobacter cloacae was not isolated. Remaining isolates were Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus spp., Preudomonas aeruginosa and Alcaligenes faecalis. Most of the isolates (75.0%) were isolated from rear quarters.

        Antimicrobial susceptibility of 157 Gram-negative bacilli (90 Escherichia coli. 30 Enterobacter aerogenes, 18 Klebsiella pneumoniae, 12 Proteus spp., 3 Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 4 Alcaligenes faecalis) isolated from infected bovine udders was determined by the plate dilution method. Gentamicin and oxolinic acid at a concentration of $12.5{\mu}g/ml$ were very active to all of 157 Gram-negative bacilli tested, and 98% of these strains were susceptible to nalidixic acid at a concentration of $25{\mu}g/ml$. Most of the 90 Escherichia coli strains were inhibited by chloramphenicol, ampicillin and carbenicillin and carbenicillin at a concentration of $12.5{\mu}g/ml$. None of the Klebsiella pneumoniae strains were inhibited at a concentration of $50{\mu}g/ml$ of ampicillin and carbenillin, whereas all the species of Proteus resisted a concentration of $50{\mu}g/ml$ or higher tetracycline. All the 3 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were highly resistant to streptomycin, kanamycin, Ampicillin, chloramphenicol, tetracycline and nalidixic acid.

        젖소 유방염유래(乳房炎由來) 장내세균(腸內細菌)의 약제내성(藥劑耐性) 및 R. Plasmids

        A total of 250 enteric bacteria (148 Escherichia coli, 41 Klebsiella pneumoniae, 46 Enterobacter spp. and 15 Proteus spp.) isolated from bovine udder infections in 1979 through 1980 were examined for drug resistance and prevalence of R. plasmids. The drug tested were streptomycin (SM), kanamycin (KM), ampicillin (AP), chloramphenicol (CP), tetracycline (TC), gentamicin (GM), oxolinic acid (OA) and nalidixic acid (NA). The detection of R. plasmids was performed with Escherichia coli ML 1410 NAr as the recipient. Of the 148 Escherichia coli isolated, 68(45.9%) were found to be resistant to one or more drugs tested, and about 50% of the resistant strains were multiply resistant. of the 68 drugresistant strains, 13(19.1%) were found to carry R. plasmids which were capable of performing a conjugal transfer. CP resistance was transfered together with the other resistance. Of 41 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated, 90.2% were resistant to the drugs, alone or in combination thereof. Strains resistant to AP and TC were 63.4%, and 48.8%, respectively. R. plasmids were detected in 78.4% of the drug-resistant strains, and these strains transfered all or a part of their drug resistance pattern. AP and CP resistance were transfered in 100% of AP and CP-resistant strains. Eleven (37.9%) of 29 R. plasmids showed a thermosensitive transfer. Of the 46 strains of Enterobacter spp. isolated, 37(80.4%) were resistant to the drugs tested. A high percentage of resistance was noted for AP(65.2%). All strains resistant to four or more drugs transferred their resistances to Escherichia coli ML 1410, but strains resistant to three or fewer drugs did not transfer the resistances. All of the 15 Proteus strains isolated were resistant to more than two drugs. of them, 6 were quadruple resistance to SM, KM, CP and TC, and 9 were double one to AP and TC. Three (20.0%) of the drug-resistant isolates had R.plasmids conferring AP and TC resistance. GM, OA and NA of the drugs tested were very active to all of 250 Gram-negative enteric bacteria isolated from bovine udder infections.

        젖소유방염유래(乳房炎由來) 포도구균(葡萄球菌)에 관한 연구(硏究) I. Staphylococcus aureus의 생화학적특성(生化學的特性)

        The biochemical properties of strains of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from cattle with peracute gangrenous mastitis, acute systemic mastitis and chronic mastitis were examined. Of 261 strains of Staphylococci isolated from quarters with clinical mastitis, 140 (53.6%) were classified as Staphylococcus aureus and 121 (46.4%) were coagulase-negative staphylococci. All the strains of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from quarters with peracute gangrenous mastitis and acute systemic mastitis showed production of alpha heamolysin, coagulase, lipase, phosphatase, nuclease and gelatinase, and fermentation of mannitol. However, of 114 strains of Staphylococcus aureus obtained from quarters with chronic mastitis, 64 (56.1%) possessed alpha lysin, and 43 (37.7%) produced lipase in egg yolk medium. The most common hemolytic pattern of the strains associated with chronic mastitis was ${\beta}{\delta}$ type.

        젖소 유방염유래(乳房炎由來) 포도구균(葡萄球菌)에 관한 연구(硏究) II. Coagulase음성(陰性) Staphylococci의 분류(分類) 및 생화학적(生化學的) 특성(特性)

        The distribution of slide coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated from bovine mastitic milk samples was investigated mainly according to Kloos and Schleifer's classification scheme, and toxigenic and enzymatic characteristics of these strains were also examined. One-hundred-and-twenty-one strains of coagulase-negative staphylococci isolated were classified into 8 species. Of these species, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staph. xylosus, Staph. haemolyticus and Staph. simulans were more frequently found in bovine mastitic milk samples, and toxin and enzyme production of these species were observed in relatively high frequency. Staph. hyicus subsp. hyicus was isolated from the 4 quarters with clinical mastitis included in this investigation. By the use of Baird-Parker and Pelzer's classification system, 44.6% and 18.2% of the strains could not be classified in any subgroup, respectively.
