For the purposes of drilling oil field and extracting oil deep water in more rough weather, the size of drilling rigs has been much increased.<br/> In the case of semi-submersible drilling rigs, which are operating under environmental loads such as those due to wave, wind and current etc., the motion responses and drift forces of the drilling rigs must be estimated.<br/> In this paper, the three dimensional source distribution method is used and we assume 10 deg, heeling and trimming condition of the drilling rig (SR-192). Also, the effects of the hydrodynamic forces which include the drift forces for field method, and the motion responses are studied with changing the incident wave direction in the assumed inclining condition. The theory and numerical codes used in this thesis appeared to be very useful for the preliminary design of drilling rigs.

The results of previous works on the wave energy conversion do not seem to be satisfactory due to irregularity, and the non-linear hydrodynamic effect which is inevitably featured due to the structural complexity of the ocean wave energy conversion device. These may cause the difficulty estimating the extracted wave power.<br/> In this paper a study on estimating the extracted wave power and its ratio. The present authors have developed another method estimating the extracted wave power using the three dimensional source distribution method, which was turned out to be an improved one.<br/> It has been observed that the present results may be used for the control of the wave energy conversion device and the optimal design has been derived from the several case studies.

Since 1967 the Towing Tank of Inha University has been planed constracted and was completed 1971. The size of the tank is 79m length, 5m width 3m depth. At one end of the tank, 18kw wave maker is installed which can produce regular and irregular waves, max. 6m length 40cm height. The towing carriage is driven by four 2.2kw motor and reuglated by electronic speed regulator, and it's max. towing speed is 2.5m/sec, resistance dynamometer and some other instruments including clamp, towing guide etc. are designed and made by us. Here under, the authors wish to give some details of facilities and calibrated performance of the towing carriage, wave maker and resistance measuring system.
