오늘날 다양한 분야에서 융합이 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 융합의 가장 긍정적인 가치는 융합의 방법적인 부분에서의 무한한 가능성을 가지고 있다는 것인데, 이 가치를 기반으로 하여 종합예술의 양대 산맥이라 할 수 있는 오페라와 뮤지컬을 융합해 새롭게 탄생된 ‘뮤페라’를 예술치료와 접목해 그 활용가능성을 살펴봄으로써, 통합예술치료에 다양하게 응용될 수 있도록 하고자 한다. 본 연구는 먼저 오페라와 뮤지컬, 뮤페라의 일반적인 정의와 구성요소를 살펴보고, 각각의 장르가 가지는 특징적인 요소들을 간략하게 정리하고자 한다. 또한, 한국에서 뮤페라 공연이 시작된 2003년부터 2015년 초까지 공연된 다양한 뮤페라 작품들의 특징들을 정리해 보면서, 뮤페라라는 장르가 가지는 일반적인 특징들도 함께 정리하고자 한다. 이 후 예술치료의 정의와 종류를 살펴본 후, 오페라와 뮤지컬을 융합해 탄생한 뮤페라를 어떠한 방법으로 예술치료에 활용할 수 있을지 그 가능성을 살펴보는 것으로 본 연구는 마무리된다. 아울러 본고에서는 뮤페라라는 새로운 음악적 장르를 소개하고 그것의 예술치료적 활용가능성에 대해 고민하는 것에 머무르고 있지만, 앞으로 예술치료의 다양한 영역에서 적극적으로 활용되어, 실험을 통한 구체적인 연구가 이루어지길 기대해 본다. Convergence means that the characteristics of two genres have melted in a new genre produced by combining the concepts of two different genres, and according to the examination through this study, a large number of Muperas performed in South Korea had such a convergent characteristic, or were produced with such an intention. This means that Muper a is ‘a genre of a new music’ with a possibility of infinite experiments produced by the convergence of operas and musicals. This characteristic of convergence in Mupera has high applicability to the area of art therapy, too, and in particular, it can be applied to art therapy in various ways since it has a possibility of infinite experiments such as a method of producing and using ‘a new composition’ by mixing formal components of the two genres, operas and musicals to each other and a method of using genres of popular music freely or using modern technologies. Mupera produced through the convergence of operas and musicals has a merit that it can be composed in various ways, utilizing the positive parts the two genres have, depending on the subject, and it is expected that it will have high applicability to the area of integrated art therapy which allows the client to have various artistic experiences by combining various art media and to use emotions and feelings in an integrated way. In addition, this study introduces a new musical genre called Mupera and discusses its applicability as art therapy, but in the future, specific methods of use should be sought and studied through various experiments in the process of art therapy.
