이 글은, 기하학적 모형들로서 디자인의 핵심개념인 통합(統合)의 특성을 구조적으로 인식하는 것이었다. 즉 단순 기하학적 구조 모형에 의하여, 디자인 활동의 주체(主體)인 디자이너(Sd)와 디자인소통의 매개체(媒介體)인 디자인대상(Od)에 관한 통합적 인식의 틀을 제시하고자 하였다. 핵심내용은, 뫼비우스 띠에 의한 통합의 개념적 구조를 형성하는 것과 정사면체(正四面體) 모형에 의한 통합의 역학적 구조와 그 관계들을 규명하는 것이었다. 적용된 두(2) 접근방식은, 디자인을 양(兩)주체간의 2차원적(평면적) 소통구조로 인식한 경우와 통합주체에 의한 3차원적(입체적) 활동으로 디자인을 인식한 경우였고, 각각 디자인대상에 관한 인식구조와 디자이너에 관한 인식구조의 모형들로서 도출되었다. 결과적으로 통합적 디자인에 있어서, 디자이너의 능력이라는 것은 ``독창성(獨創性)과 효과성(效果性;秀越性)과 효율성(效率性)``을 하나의 구조 속에서 내재적(內在的)으로 암시(暗示)함에 통합이 있었고, 디자인대상에게 요구되어지는 특성이라는 것은 ``개념(槪念)과 가치(價値)와 형상(形象)``을 하나의 구조 속에서 외연적(外延的)으로 명시(明示)함에 통합이 있었다. The goal of this study is geometrically to understand the meta-structure of integration that is one of the most important ideas in design awareness. The definition of integration in design awareness can be described by using the concept of Mobius Strip. The notions of parallelism and continuity is the 2 key concepts for understanding the meaning of integration. Also, the structure of integration in design awareness can be prescribed by using the geometric structure of tetrahedron. Regarding design or designing as one of man-made activities, a designer would be located at a starting point in the tri-logical structure and his/her initiative for integration could act tri-logically towards user, clients, and maker(company) at the center. Besides, just one design-object as mediates among 4 stake-holders in a design activity would be located at terminus ad quem in the same tri-logical structure and its feature required for integration could be characterized tri-logically from cultural, economical, and industrial contexts at each surface. Finally, both the implicit in designer`s competence and the explicit in design objects (mediates) for understanding the concept of integration should be described or prescribed in the same tri-logical structure.
