경제교육연구에서 새로운 그리고 지속되고 있는 주제와 동향

        마이클와츠 ( Michael Watts ) 한국경제교육학회 2012 경제교육연구 Vol.19 No.1

A general review of major trends and highlights in earlier research in economic education provides a kind of introduction to the field, serves as the basis for an appraisal of the key factors that have contributed most to past progress, and establishes the major challenges and opportunities facing future research initiatives. The view offered here is that the basic set of questions addressed by economic education researchers over the past 50 years has not really changed and is not likely to change in the future. Nor are the theoretical models and insights featured in the literature dramatically different from what they were several decades ago. Instead, most new insights and findings are based on empirical research featuring various kinds of datasets, As more and different kinds of datasets have become available, and as statistical and econometric methods for analyzing data dramatically improved over this same time period, the depth and range of findings from economic education research also improved. That seems to be the most likely and promising path for future research in the field, too, in which case even more focus should be given to developing and replicating key empirical findings that establish meaningful estimates of size (not just statistical significance), and to policies and proposals that support the development and distribution of new datasets.
