Vol.6 No.-

Seok-joong Yoon called as a great master of children’s songs created about 1300 children’s song poems for 80 years. The central point of his extensive literature is a child’s mind. His mind of a child can be summarized as follows: It has no border and can talk with animals and plants, trees and stones, and all nature in the world. In his collections of poems How Thankful It Is and So Nice To Meet You that were published when Yoon was over 80, he said “hello”to nature such as animals, stones and plants. He recognized human being and nature in the same position like a child in these collections of poems, and his recognition was de-egocentric by giving the equal personality to objects or each part of body that we usually think just as useful medium, through having a positive conversation such as“ How thankful it is” or“ So nice to meet you”, and shaping ethical relation to them. Yoon’s rocognizing style reveals that human is not the only being that reigns over nature, ruins the environment and treats the life lightly by objectifying nature and the matters, based on the man-centered thoughts, but as a part of the nature, we should live together with them. His ecological recognition that is reflected in two collections of poems published when he was over 80, can be interpreted as his comprehensive recognition of literature, from the point of the evening of his life. In this material dominated, exceedingly competitive society, the ecological recognition of the world reflected in the collections of poems How Thankful It Is and So Nice To Meet You shows a way to harmonize human being with nature by our getting out of egocentrism and materialism. Also, it’s very meaningful to prevent human being from oppression by materials and let them think worthy themselves.

Vol.13 No.-

Yoon, Suk-Joong(1911-2003) was born in Supyo-dong 13, Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea. He began his literary world, being accepted for 《New Boy》 in 1924 and 《Children》 1925. He published his complete works of thirty volumes from Woong-jin publishing company 1988 and collected 5 volumes as a series of 『Homeland』. This dissertation focus on the difference between the nostalgic space in『Homeland』 and Supyo-dong where he was born and grown up. Yoon, Suk-joong’s father lived with his step-mother, doing virtue to neighbors in Yulmok-ri, Eumam-myeon, Seosan-city, but drawn into the Korean War and passed away. Yoon’s family became victims of the war and he turned his back on Seosan. Yoon’s works in Vol.5 『Homeland』entered upon a new phase since the Korean War. Hometown on his former works such as 「Road」, 「A zelkova in our town」, 「Homeway」 「A child living in a country」, 「Homeland」, 「Geese」 means allowed space whenever you want to go. In contrast, hometown in latter works suck as 「Goodbye, my hometown」, 「Homesky」, 「Missing Hometown」, 「Hometown」means space not allowed to go. Also, commonly set up-nostalgic space is the object of yearning and the place with sunset, a pass beyond a pass, a well and ridgeway and children driving cows. Hometown is just a birthplace as a common statement. However, it can be a intensive place full of precious values in a literary aspect. Past studies regarded hometown as a common place or home town baring in mind, but it actually has country mood rather urban mood like Seoul. Though countryside looks similar, taking the truth that a work come out from writer’s experience into consideration, the nostalgic space in 『Homeland』 is Yulmok-ri, Eumam-myeon, Seosan-city, the place where his father lived and precious values left by mom existed.

Vol.- No.15

The first poetry book『Sparkling Pumpkin Flowers』 consists of 33 poems and 2 fairly tale poems and it was published at the point of Korean liquidation-policy, 1941. The poems of 『Spar kling Pumpkin Flowers』have accepted readers from audi tory-dependent infants and adults. The 33 poems were from the motif of experiences in childhood and shaped the ancient times. This can be interpret as a yearning for the human archetype. In addition, the poems such as ?A Hen?, ?A Cow?and ?My Mom´s Milk?have guided modern children to the primitive places where nature and human could get along with each other and have lead adults to their longing childhood. 『Sparkling Pumpkin Flowers』shaped the children of representing hopes with concise and bright images, the beauty of Korean with sound and rhythm and nostalgia for motherhood. It is very significant for the poetry book of Korean refinement to be published in 1991 of Korean liquidation-policy.
