The piping route of hydraulic hose is designed with avoiding interferences to surrounding components. However, in a real practice, the piping route is mostly decided with an expert’s experiences on site due to the complexity of design. Thus, this paper proposes a design methodology of the optimized route of a hose. We use NURBS representation to describe the piping route, which is possible to be locally modified, and an energy minimization method is applied to avoid interferences to the surroundings. In other words, the NURBS curve describing a piping route is modified to meet the desired positions from minimizing the perturbation of the control points, and the strain energy of the curve is then optimized to make the curve natural. The proposed method is implemented and its feasibility is validated using the commercial CAD software, CATIA V5.

As industry evolves, many studies on metal processing are conducted. Among them, the method to design the shape of forming roll of roll forming process still relies heavily on experimental and trial and error methods. This study suggested a systematic and effective design method in order to shorten the development time of forming roll by using a flower design method. Also, it suggested 3D-based forming roll shape design techniques that considered flowers’s volume unlike the 2D-based flower design method usually applied in the existing studies. And in order to examine the validity of the suggested shape design method, it predicted the strains of the complicated shape based on the suggested flower design method and cross-checked the results with the actual product shape.
역추적 기법을 활용한 산업용 유압호스의 가상 물성치 추정

Among the various parts which construct hydraulic system, especially hydraulic hoses play important roles in the organic connection between components of hydraulic system and in the efficient power transmission. Therefore, a path design during development process of various industrial machines is one of the important issues. A method using a commercial software based on the virtual reality was proposed to estimate the path of anisotropic hydraulic hoses. Design parameters which are necessary to be input to create paths are materials properties values such as Young"s modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson’s ratio. However, a distance error is occurred between the path on which materials properties are applied and that obtained from actual experiment like tensile test etc. A backward tracing scheme was used in this study to search virtual materials properties which are closest to actual path of horses.
