The structural behaviour of chassis frame joints was investigated by F.E.Analysis and Lab test, with changing the attachment method in the joint area. The study shows that the endurance of a structure can be improved by local reinforcement even though the overal I stiffness of the structure is low.<br/> Also it was verified that the rapid determination of structural shape in a initial design stage can be achieved by rig test in a laboratory.<br/>

In this paper a method to calculate realistic multi-axial loading on a component is presented. Strain measurements at specific nominal area of the component are taken on a typical service route and load-strain relationships at strain attachment locations are established by quasi-static F.E. Analysis under unit loading in each assumed direction, in order to perform this process. By using linear superposition theory and numerical manipulation, time domain force histories at each direction are calculated from these two major input. This technique is applied to a truck chassis frame and calculated force histories are used for F.E. fatigue analysis. The results of life prediction show good correlation of frame failure by proving ground durability test.<br/> <br/>

Resently various researches for aerodynamic characteristics of commercial vehicle have been performed to improve fuel economy, driving stability, etc. Therefore, wind tunnel test was carried out to analyze aerodynamic characteristics for heavy duty truck.<br/> Measurements for aerodynamic force and moment of six components, e.g, drag, lift, cross wind, yawing moment, rolling moment and pitching moment, were undertaken by using the 1/10 scale cargo truck model through various combinations, nine types of roof spoiler and six types of deck.<br/> Through this experiments, we have got the aerodynamic characteristics of cargo truck with various types of roof spoiler and deck.<br/>
