가톨릭학교 평신도 교사의 역할 - 그리스도의 삼중직무를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 교회문헌을 통해 평신도 그리스도인이며 동시에 가톨릭학교 교사들의 역할에 대해 탐구한다. 교회가 평신도 그리스도인을 통해 교회의 구원 사명을 공유하는 것과 같이, 가톨릭학교 교육자들은 그리스도로부터 학교에 파견되어 교육을 통해 교회의 구원 사명에 참여한다. 가톨릭교회의 평신도에 대한 이해는 제2차 바티칸공의회 후 크게 변화되었으며, 하느님의 백성, 세상의 누룩, 그리스도 삼중직무에 참여로 대표된다. 그렇다면 가톨릭학교 평신도 교사가 수행해야 할 삼중직무 즉 예언자직, 왕직, 사제직이란 무엇인가? 예언자직을 수행한다는 것은 그리스도의 정신을 담은 전인교육 실천, 현세 질서의 쇄신, 신앙의 관점에서 문화 전달, 그리고 가톨릭교육 철학을 반영한 인간상을 제시하는 것이다. 왕직을 수행하는 것은 그리스도를 닮아 학생들과의 직접적인 친교 안에서 겸손과 개방된 자세로 돌봄을 실천하는 것이고, 자신의 삶으로써 하느님 나라를 보여주는 것이다. 사제직을 수행하는 것은 복음 정신을 갖는 것, 성사적 관점을 갖는 것, 세상의 모든 이들을 위하는 것, 세상의 성화를 위하는 것, 소명의식을 갖는 것, 자신의 성장을 위해 노력하는 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교사들이 삼중직무를 수행하기 위해서는 교사 스스로 성장을 위한 노력도 필요하지만, 가톨릭교회가 교육자의 양성을 위해 신앙적 지원과 공동체적 지원과 함께 가톨릭 학교에 대한 지원이 필요함을 제안한다. This research explores the ministry of lay Catholics and Catholic school teachers in the light of the Church documents. Just as the Church shares its mission of salvation through lay Catholics, Catholic educators are sent to the school to participate in the Church’s mission of salvation through education. The Catholic Church’s understanding of the laity has changed dramatically after the Second Vatican Council. As active members of ‘the people of God’, and as ‘the leaven of the world’, they participate in the threefold ministry of Christ: the prophetic, the kingly, and the priestly ministry. Then, what are the threefold ministry of Christ that lay teachers at Catholic schools should perform? To carry out the prophetic ministry is to practice the whole-person education in the spirit of Christ, to renew the temporal order of the society, to engage in cultural activities from a Christian perspective, and to present the image of human persons that embody the philosophy of Catholic education. To carry out the kingly ministry is, like Christ, to practice caring for human persons with humility and openness in direct contact with the students, and to witness to the kingdom of God with one"s own life. To carry out the priestly ministry is to have the spirit of the Gospel, to have sacramental consciousness, to serve all people in the world, to work for the sanctification of the world, to have a sense of vocation, and to strive to grow in one"s faith. To fulfill the threefold ministry of Christ, teachers must make efforts for their growth and development. It is also proposed that the Catholic Church needs to support Catholic schools to develop effective Christian formation programs for teachers and to provide broader community support for teacher education.
