최근 니트웨어 수요 증가와 함께 컬렉션에서의 니트웨어의 비중이 확대되고 있다. 스포츠 웨어의 젊음과 감성에 도시적이면서 실용적이고 심플하면서도 세련된 디자인으로 젊은 디자이너들 중에서도 주목받는 디자이너가 알렉산더 왕이다. 알렉산더 왕은 컬렉션에서 니트웨어를 적극적이고 과감하게 활용하여 전체적컬렉션 이미지를 각인시키며 새로운 니트웨어들을 제안한다. 이에 그의 커리어와 디자인 성향에 대해 살펴보고, 그의 컬렉션에 나타난 니트웨어를 실증 분석하여 그 미적 특성을 연구하였다. 미적특성은 크게 실험적 실용성, 구조적 개방성, 현대적 전통성, 절제적 관능성 등의 4가지였다. 그는 다양한 스타일의 융합에 다른 소재 사용으로 인한 질감의 다양화, 구조적 실험에 의한 조형적 요소의 다양화 등 여러 요소를 그만의 스타일로 해석하여 적극 반영한다. 실험적 디자인으로 니트웨어의 새로운 방향을 제시하는 다양한 젊은 디자이너들의 디자인 미적 특성을 분석함은 향후 니트웨어디자인의 발전에 의미가 있을 것이다. The importance of knitwear in fashion collections has been expanded as the demands of knitwear has been increased. Alexander Wang whose design is urban and practical, simple and sophisticated in the mood of sportism is a remarkable designer among young designers. He is good at imprinting whole [Fig. ] of collection by using knitwear drastically and suggests a new design way of knitwear. Firstly, the career and design tendency was examined briefly. Then, the study analysed each collection empirically and studied the aesthetic characteristics of his knitwear design. They are experimental practicality, structural openness, modern traditionality and abstinent sensuality. He mixes different styles, various materials, experiments structurally and translates many elements in his own style. The study on the characteristics of knitwear of various young designers can have implication for the design development of future knitwear design.
