        The finite element method is applied to Navier-stokes equations. A velocity-pressure formultion is used in the analysis. A mixed interpolation is employed for the velocity and pressure. The approach is assessed by comparing the results with preditions of other authors, for various numerical test cases.

      • Sisomicin의 유리에 미치는 이온강도의 영향 및 발효생산에의 응용

        In a sisomicin fermentation using Micromonospora inyoensis, most of the antibiotic produced accmulated in the cells. On the other hand, when the cells harvested from fermentation broths were suspended in the buffer solutions containing salts, the intracellular antibiotic was increasingly liberated by increasing the ionic strength. As an application of these results to fermentation cultures, the addition of a considerable amount of salts into fermentation media in the mid-fermentation stage could possibly enhance the liberation of intracellular antibiotic without a significant growth inhibition. These strategies brough about 50 to 100% increases in the final yield of sisomicin fermentation.

      • P.V.C. Pipe內에 있어서의 Newtonian Fluid의 흐름 상태에 對한 硏究

        This study is to confirm experimentally the friction factor in the P.V.C. pipe. As the Reynolds number is increased the rougher tube results deviate from the maximum drag reduction asymptote sooner than the less rough tube results. The minor loss results in the various fittings snch as elbow. tee, and valves are presented. The fittings show lower value of the loss coefficient of the P.V.C. pipe than steel pipe on the Newtonian fluid flow.

      • 管路中의 Valve, Cock의 저항에 對한 硏究

        This study is to Confirm experimen tally the Coefficient of orag in valve and Cock of the pipe flow. The minor loss results in the various fittings such as glove valves, sluice valves, Butterfly valves and rotary valves are presented. The fittings show higher values of the loss Coefficient in the drag reducing than others, which is guite Contrary to the drag reducing phenomenon in the straight tabes. The eguivalent length of the fittings for the drag reducing is many timee longer than that for Newtonian fluids due to the increase of the loss Coefficient and the decrease of the friction factor.

      • 대동맥 분기부에 발생한 협착부의 혈액 유동 특성

        The three dimensional steady flows of blood and blood analogue fluids in the abdominal aortic bifurcation are simulated using the finite volume method. The objective of this investigation is to understand the generation and progression of specific atherosclerosis from a hydrodynamic point of view. Due to complexity of blood in conducting experimental study, aqueous polymer solution are used as the substitutional fluids. For comparison purpose of the flow characteristic of blood and substitutional fluids, rheologically different fluids such as water soluble polymers of Carbopol-934 and Separan AP-273 are employed for the numerical simulation. In order to understand the role of hydrodynamic in the formation and development of atherosclerosis lesions flow velocities, pressures and shere stresses along the vessel are calculated for steady flows

        Pump characteristic due to the changes of impeller tip shape and operating speed are studied experimentally with a small volute pump. Pump characteristic curve for head-capacity and efficiency-capacity curves of three derivative models are compared with standard model. In conclusion, total head and efficiency of the derivative model are lover than those of the standard model.

      • Non-Newtonian Fluid가 협착관에서 층류구역의 압력손실계수

        The pressure loss coefficient of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids in the stenotic tubes are determined experimentally and numerically. The numerical analyses for flows of non-Newtonian fluids in the stenotic tubes are conducted by finite element method. Non-newtonian fluids are made of water soluble polymers of Carbopol 934 and Separan AP-273. The effect of the contraction ratio and the ratio of length to diameter on the pressure drop are investigated by the experiments and numerical approach. Pressure loss coefficients of non-Newtonian fluids decrease just as those of Newtonian fluids in the laminar flow region. As the ratio of length to diameter increases the maximum pressure loss coefficient increases in the laminar flow region for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. Experimental results are used to verify the numerical analyses. Numerical results for the maximum pressure loss coefficient in the stenotic tubes are in fairly good agreement with the experimental results.

        When it is made the surface grinding of D-2 Die steel to be selected the grinding wheel of WA60Kmv in the grinding condition, in the continuous formation process for surface roughness and grinding, we hope find to the optimum grinding condition. A characteristic of grinding resistance or chatter is analyzed concretely and summarized. The results are obtained as follow : 1. On a surface grinding, in case of the application of upper grinding, the normal and tangential component are increased well from the opening grinding in all and take the maximum in terms of the one-third of test piece, Thereafter, this tendency decrease again. 2. on surface grinding, when work piece speed take 13 m/min and below, the grinding resistance is less spark-out than grinding operation. When work piece speed takes 20 m/mm, in the spark-out grinding, the grinding resistance increases about 10~20%. If it is expected the effectiveness of spark-out grinding, the work piece speed must suitably limit a certain selected value and below. 3. In a surface grinding, the surface roughness of the finishing plane could be the roughness tendency when work piece speed takes 73 m/min and below, the effectiveness for the roughness improvement of spark-out grinding could be exact. But when work piece speed takes 13 m/min and above, the spark-out grinding is, due to the ineffectiveness, about the work piece roughness. 4. In a surface grinding, the natural frequency of a tool dynamometer instructs 555 Hz. The more feed speed of the table and grinding depth increases, the more tangential spectrum and normal spectrum of abrasive grain increase unstable. In the first 555 Hz, the second 1115 Hz, the third 1675 Hz, the power spectrum appears the changed tendency.
