The Endo`s ‘SCANDAL’ can be said to have fictionalized Chapter 7 of Romans of Paul (the Apostle). In Chapter 7 of Romans, Paul laments that when he wants to do good, evil is right there with him. This means that no one is free from the evil. Salvation can be achieved only through the grace of God, but not at all through human efforts. SUGURO, a hero of ‘SCANDAL’, is a famous Christian writer in Japan. Such SUGURO had to prove false the public scandal that he played around with women in red light district. He laments that what he found out is ugly truth that there is uncontrollable evil in himself. When he is in danger of losing everything, at last he desperately needs God. However, God has already opened the door of salvation.
Vol.10 No.-
This study compares the structural characteristics of Korean and Japanese in view of linguistic culturology by Makinoseiich (1996), Linguistic culturology is the study of a relation between language and culture, which originates form the hypothesis suggesting that language is influenced by culture. That is. through cultural characteristics language phenomena are to be explicated. I have started this study with a conviction that some important things of structural differences which exist between Korean and Japanese can be clarified from differences between Korean the two countries' culture. Korean and Japanese are similar in almost all syntactic categories, but show remarkably big differences in a passive category. Noticing this, I have embodied Korean and Japanese in their respective language of active structure and that passive structure, and find out that this different background of types of language is attributed to the opposite cultural structure in which Korea has concrete culture and Japan has abstract culture. Meantime I make it clear that some effective sub-types of language are derived in this study in clarifying dissimilar structural differences between the two languages in types of language of passive structural language and active structural language. That is, the two languages are contrary types of language in that in a point of time Korean is fixed and Japanese is fluid, Korean is verb-centric and Japanese is noun-centric, and Korean is result-centric and Japanese is process-centric. These types of language are very meaningful to explain structural differences of the two languages in an organic relation.
