        Characterization of Mechanical Property Change in Polymer Aerogels Depending on the Ligand Structure of Acrylate Monomer

        In an effort to overcome the weakness of aerogel, polymer aerogels have been prepared by copolymerizing the different types of monomers through sol-gel process. Polymerizing the successive phase of a high internal phase emulsion, which has interconnected porous structure, porous polymer aerogel can be manufactured. In this paper, we use the styrene/divinylbenzene chain as a basic monomer structure, and additionally use 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate (2-EHMA) or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) as monomers for distinguishing the visible mechanical properties of synthesized polymer aerogel. We can observe the different tendency of polymer aerogels by kinds of monomer or ratio. Flexibility and microstructure can be changed by the types of monomer. EHA polymer aerogel shows high flexibility and thin microstructure, and EHMA polymer aerogel shows high hardness and thick microstructure. EHA/EHMA polymer aerogel shows the intermediate nature between them. By utilizing the mechanical properties of three types of polymer aerogels to adequate situation or environment, polymer aerogels could be used as drug agent, ion exchange resin, oil filter and insulator, and so on.

      • 보건행정전공 대학생의 목표지향성, 학업스트레스, 전공만족도가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 우리나라 대학교육의 변화에 따라 대학 교육의 질을 높이기 위한 노력 중 하나로 보건행정전공 학생들의 특성을 실증적으로 분석하고자 함에 있다. 연구를 위해 광주, 전남의 4년제 대학 보건행정전공학생을 대상으로 조사를 실시하였다. 연구대상에게 성취목표지향성, 학업스트레스, 학과만족도, 학업성취도를 측정하였고 목표지향성을 중심으로 변인 간 차이검증 및 관계여부를 확인하였다. 그 결과 수행접근은 학업스트레스에 숙달접근은 전공만족도 중 ‘일반만족’에 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 성취목표지향성이 보건행정전공학생들의 학업스트레스, 전공만족도, 학업성취도 각각에 미치는 영향을 확인해 볼 결과 수행회피는 학업스트레스에, 숙달접근과 수행접근은 전공만족도에, 숙달접근은 학업성취도에 11%, 24%, 9%의 영향력을 가지고 있었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 보건행정전공 학생들의 목표유형을 확인할 수 있었고, 그들의 긍정적 학습과정 및 결과를 기대하기 위해서는 수행목표보다 숙달목표를 설정할 수 있는 환경 조성이 필요함을 논의하였다. In this study, it was possible to analyze empirically characteristics of students major in health adminstration as one of the efforts in response to the change of college education to improve the quality of health education. The questionnaire was completed by health adminstration students in four-year college in Gwangju and Junranamdo. This study was measured achievement goal orientation, academic stress, major satisfaction, academic achievement. Also it was confirmed difference and relationship focusing on achievement goal orientation. As a result, there were meaningful difference in performance approach in academic stress and major satisfaction in general satisfaction. Also, this study reported that Performance-avoidance influence of the academic stress was 11%, Mastery-approach and Performance-approach influence of the major satisfaction was 24%, Mastery-approach influence of the major satisfaction was 9%. Therefore, this study was empirically confirmed nursing student"s type of achievement goal and to be expected positive learning process and results should be discussed class environment.

        백색 제품 디자인을 위한 감성적 특성 연구

        본 연구에서는 미묘한 차이가 있는 다양한 흰색의 감성을 평가하여 백색가전제품을 디자인함에 있어 제품의 감성과 적합한 흰색을 제시할 수 있는 가이드라인을 개발하였다. 연구는 3가지 실험으로 나누어 진행되었다. 실험 1에서는 문헌조사와 워크샵을 통해 수집한 60가지 감성 어휘 중, 설문을 통해 (N=30) 제품색을 평가하기 적합한 20개의 감성 어휘를 추출하였다. 실험 2에서는 다른 색들과 비교했을 때 흰색의 상대적인 감성적 특성을 알기 위해 I.R.I Hue & Tone 120 system으로부터 선정한 13가지 기본 색을 대상으로 실험 1에서 추출한 20개의 감성 어휘에 대해 감성 평가를 진행하였다 (N=30). 이를 요인 분석법을 통해 분석한 결과 4개의 감성 요인 - 화려한, 우아한, 맑은, 부드러운 - 이 추출되었으며, 또한 13색의 감성적 특성을 파악하고 이를 흰색과 비교하였다. 마지막으로 실험 3에서는, 실험 2에서 얻은 4가지 감성 요인을 이용하여 미묘한 차이를 가진 25가지 흰색에 대한감성 평가를 진행하였다. 실험에 사용된 색채 자극물은 CIE 1976 L a b 로 측정되었으며, 각각의 L, a, b값이 흰색의 감성적 특성에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 회귀 분석을 사용하여 결과를 분석하였다. 본 실증적 연구들을 통해 우리는 3가지 주요 결과를 얻었다: 첫째, 제품색을 평가하기 위한 4가지 감성 요인 - 화려한, 우아한, 맑은, 부드러운-이 존재한다. 둘째, 흰색은 다른 색보다 우아한 감성이 압도적으로 강하게 표현된다. 셋째, 색의 감성적 특성은 색의 3요소인 색상, 명도, 채도 중 일부분의 조합에 영향을 받는다. 추가적으로, 실험 3의 회귀분석을 통해 공식을 도출하였으며, 이 공식을 사용하여 다양한 흰색의 감성적 특성을 예측할 수 있다. In this study we investigated emotional characteristics of various whites which have slightly different nuances to suggest guidelines that help designers to select appropriate colors when designing white based products. The study involved three different procedures. In experiment 1, we selected 20 emotional words through a survey (N=30) among 60 words, which we picked from literature review that was thought to be appropriate to evaluate product colors. In experiment 2, we evaluated the emotional characteristics of 13 basic colors from the I.R.I Hue & Tone 120 system (N=30) using previously selected emotional words, to find relative emotional positions of white in comparison to other colors. Based on the ratings, factor analysis was conducted and consequently four factors were extracted: flamboyant, elegant, clear, and soft. Accordingly, the emotional characteristics of the 13 colors were profiled and compared with those of white. Finally, in experiment 3, we conducted an evaluation of emotional characteristics on 25 whites with different nuances facilitating the four factors obtained in experiment 2. The color stimuli used in experiments were measured in terms of CIE 1976 L*a*b*, and regression analysis was performed in order to predict the emotional characteristics through the L, a, and b values of a color, as long as that is perceived as a white. Throughout three empirical studies, we observed three overruling tendencies: First, there are four important factors when evaluating product color - flamboyant, elegance, clearness and softness; second, white is dominantly the most elegant in comparison to other colors; third, the emotional factors of the study were affected by some combinations of attributes of colors rather than by all three -hue, saturation and brightness. In addition, the equations derived from the regression analysis in experiment 3, it is expected that designers may predict the emotional distinction between nuances of white.

        초등학생이 지각하는 수업방식, 교사특성, 수업분위기와 창의성과의 관계

        본 연구에서는 초등학생의 창의성에 영향을 미치는 환경적 맥락 중 학교의 수업환경을 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국교육개발원에서 초등학교 5학년생을 대상으로 실시한 한국교육종단조사 2013(KELS)의 1차년도 데이터를 사용하여 초등학생이 지각하는 수업방식과 교사특성이 수업분위기를 매개로 창의성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 연구결과 첫째, 초등학생이 지각한 교사의 수업방식, 교사특성(교사지원, 교사열의, 성취압력), 수업분위기는 창의성과 모두 정적으로 유의한 관계를 가지고 있었다. 둘째, 선행연구를 중심으로 설정한 연구모형에 따라 교사의 수업방식과 교사특성은 수업분위기를 매개로 학생의 창의성에 영향을 미치는지 확인하였다. 그 결과, 교사의 수업방식은 학생의 창의성에 직접적인 영향만을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 교사특성 중 교사지원과 교사열의는 창의성에 정적인 영향을, 성취압력은 창의 성에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 교사의 지원과 열의는 수업분위기를 매개로 창의성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과 및 논의를 중심으로 본 연구는 교사들에게 초등학생들의 창의성을 증진시킬 수 있도록 실질적인 교수-학습방법, 학급경영, 교실환경 조성에 대한 방안을 제시하였다. This study explored the class environment of school focused on the environmental context affects the creativity of elementary school. For the study 7,280 students' data from data of Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2013(KELS) were selected and analyzed. The results were as follows: First, the teaching method of elementary school students perceived teachers, teacher characteristics, class atmosphere had a significant relationship between creativity. Second, the teaching methods of teachers and teacher characteristics, depending on the model studies were identified affect the creativity of the students mediating a class atmosphere. As a result, the teaching methods of teachers showed that only a direct impact on the creativity of the students. Teachers enthusiasm and teacher support gave a positive effect on creativity, achievement pressure influenced a negative effect on creativity. In particular, the positive characteristics of teachers appeared to affect creativity to mediate the class atmosphere. Based on these results, this study formulated several educational suggestions with respect to creative class environment

      • Facile synthesis of hydrophobic, thermally stable, and insulative organically modified silica aerogels using co-precursor method

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Silica aerogels have low density and high specific surface area, but there are restrictions regarding their durability and commercialization owing to their fragile nature and the strong moisture absorbing behavior of the siloxane network. To overcome these restrictions, this study evaluated hybrid organically modified silica (ORMOSIL) aerogels by employing 3-(trimethoxysilylpropyl) methacrylate (TMSPM) in tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) through a two-step sol-gel co-precursor method. The methacrylate organic groups were incorporated into the silica networks via reactions between the Si-OH moieties in silica aerogels, resulting in ORMOSIL aerogels. The properties of the ORMOSIL aerogels were strongly affected by the amount of TMSPM co-precursor. The highest concentration of TMSPM (30wt%) resulted in ORMOSIL aerogels with improved characteristics when compared with the pristine TEOS-based silica aerogels, such as hardness (0.15GPa), Young's modulus (1.26GPa), low thermal conductivity (0.038W/mK), high water contact angle (140°), and high thermal stability (350°C).</P>

        Improvement in the high temperature thermal insulation performance of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> opacified silica aerogels

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>To improve the high-temperature thermal insulation characteristics of silica aerogels, it is important to reduce the radiative heat transfer. This can be achieved by Y<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> doping in the silica sol to opacify the infrared radiation of silica aerogels. The purpose of the present work was to study the effect of Y<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> incorporation on the structural and physicochemical properties of opacified silica aerogels prepared by a simple ambient pressure drying method. The influence of Y<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> addition on specific extinction coefficient and high temperature thermal insulation of prepared aerogels were investigated. The synthesized aerogels were lightweight and crack-free, with a granular, nanoporous morphology. The specific surface area, pore diameter, and bulk density of the prepared samples were 917.5–937.6 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g, 5.64–6.58 nm, and 0.047–0.076 g/cm<SUP>3</SUP>, respectively.       • Ambient pressure dried tetrapropoxysilane-based silica aerogels with high specific surface area

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In the present paper, we report the synthesis of tetrapropoxysilane (TPOS)-based silica aerogels with high surface area and large pore volume. The silica aerogels were prepared by a two-step sol-gel process followed by surface modification via a simple ambient pressure drying approach. In order to minimize drying shrinkage and obtain hydrophobic aerogels, the surface of the alcogels was modified using trichloromethylsilane as a silylating agent. The effect of the sol-gel compositional parameters on the polymerization of aerogels prepared by TPOS, one of the precursors belonging to the Si(OR)<SUB>4</SUB> family, was reported for the first time. The oxalic acid and NH<SUB>4</SUB>OH concentrations were adjusted to achieve good-quality aerogels with high surface area, low density, and high transparency. Controlling the hydrolysis and condensation reactions of the TPOS precursor turned out to be the most important factor to determine the pore characteristics of the aerogel. Highly transparent aerogels with high specific surface area (938 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g) and low density (0.047 g/cm<SUP>3</SUP>) could be obtained using an optimized TPOS/MeOH molar ratio with appropriate concentrations of oxalic acid and NH<SUB>4</SUB>OH.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Optically transparent and hydrophobic silica aerogel using TPOS was successfully synthesized. </LI> <LI> Sol-gel compositional effect using TPOS on the polymerization of aerogels was firstly reported. </LI> <LI> MeOH/TPOS and acid/base concentrations strongly influenced on the physical and textural properties. </LI> <LI> High surface area (938 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g) and low density (0.047 g/cm<SUP>3</SUP>) are obtained using TPOS as precursor. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
