A Randomized Controlled Trial to Compare the Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of Asenapine versus Olanzapine in Management of Schizophrenia

        Arpita Maitra,Swati Bhattacharyya,Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay,Asim Kumar Mallick,Supreeti Biswas,Om Prakash Singh 대한정신약물학회 2020 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.18 No.4

Objective: Schizophrenia is a serious disease characterized by impairment in the perception or expression of reality, leading to occupational and social dysfunction. The use of antipsychotic medication is now universal in the first-line treatment of schizophrenia. This study was undertaken to compare the efficacy of asenapine with a standard atypical antipsychotic, olanzapine in treating this disease. Methods: It was designed as a single blind, randomized, controlled, parallel group, single centre Phase IV trial of a newer atypical antipsychotic, asenapine versus existing standard atypical antipsychotic, olanzapine. Total 80 subjects were enrolled as per eligibility criteria. Each recruited subject received daily treatment with the trial medication (Olanzapine 10 mg or Asenapine 10 mg daily) for duration of 12 weeks. BPRS, CGI-S, CGI-I, Laboratory parameters and compliance was assessed and analyzed. Continuous variables were compared by t test and non-parametric data was analyzed by Mann−Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Likely categorical variables were analyzed by chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test, as appropriate. Results: The duration of schizophrenia at presentation was comparable in both the treatment groups. There was significant reduction of BPRS score between any two visits of each treatment groups. The decline in CGI-S and CGI-I scores was statistically significant (p < 0.001) when compared between visits of any of the both treatment arms. Adherence to treatment was excellent for all patients. Conclusion: Newer atypical antipsychotic asenapine is more effective than standard olanzapine in reducing the symptoms of schizophrenia in this study and further larger studies are to be done.

DNA Based Cloud Storage Security Framework Using Fuzzy Decision Making Technique

( Abhishek Majumdar ),( Arpita Biswas ),( Krishna Lal Baishnab ),( Sandeep K. Sood ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.7

In recent years, a cloud environment with the ability to detect illegal behaviours along with a secured data storage capability is much needed. This study presents a cloud storage framework, wherein a 128-bit encryption key has been generated by combining deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) cryptography and the Hill Cipher algorithm to make the framework unbreakable and ensure a better and secured distributed cloud storage environment. Moreover, the study proposes a DNA-based encryption technique, followed by a 256-bit secure socket layer (SSL) to secure data storage. The 256-bit SSL provides secured connections during data transmission. The data herein are classified based on different qualitative security parameters obtained using a specialized fuzzy-based classification technique. The model also has an additional advantage of being able to decide on selecting suitable storage servers from an existing pool of storage servers. A fuzzy-based technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model has been employed for this, which can decide on the set of suitable storage servers on which the data must be stored and results in a reduction in execution time by keeping up the level of security to an improved grade.

LCB: Light Cipher Block An Ultrafast Lightweight Block Cipher For Resource Constrained IOT Security Applications

( Siddhartha Roy ),( Saptarshi Roy ),( Arpita Biswas ),( Krishna Lal Baishnab ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.11

In this fast-paced technological world, the Internet of Things is a ground breaking technology which finds an immense role in the present electronic world which includes different embedded sensors, devices and most other things which are connected to the Internet. The IoT devices are designed in a way that it helps to collect various forms of data from varied sources and transmit them in digitalized form. In modern era of IoT technology data security is a trending issue which greatly affects the confidentiality of important information. Keeping the issue in mind a novel light encryption strategy known as LCB is designed for IoT devices for optimal security. LCB exploits the benefits of Feistel structure and the architectural benefits of substitution permutation network both to give more security. Moreover, this newly designed technique is tested on (Virtex-7) XC7VX330T FPGA board and it takes much little area of 224 GE (Gate Equivalent) and is extremely fast with very less combinational path delay of 0.877 ns. An in-depth screening confirms the proposed work to promise more security to counter cryptographic attacks. Lastly the Avalanche Effect (AE) of LCB showed as 63.125% and 63.875% when key and plaintext (PT) are taken into consideration respectively.

Relaying of 4G Signal over 5G Suitable for Disaster Management following 3GPP Release 18 Standard

Jayanta Kumar Ray,Ardhendu Shekhar Biswas,Arpita Sarkar,Rabindranath Bera,Sanjib Sil,Monojit Mitra 한국인터넷정보학회 2023 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.17 No.2

Technologies for disaster management are highly sought areas for research and commercial deployment. Landslides, Flood, cyclones, earthquakes, forest fires and road/train accidents are some causes of disasters. Capturing video and accessing data in real time from the disaster site can help first responders make split second decisions which may save human lives and valuable resource destructions. In this context the communication technologies performing the task should have high bandwidth and low latency which only 5G can deliver. But unfortunately in India, deployment of the 5G mobile communication systems is yet to give a shape and again in remote areas unavailability of 4G signals is still severe. In this situation the authors have proposed, simulated and experimented a 4G-5G communication scheme where from the disaster site the signals will be transmitted by a 5G terminal to a nearby 4G-5G gateway installed in a mobile vehicle. The received 5G signal will be further relayed by the 4G-5G gateway to the fixed 4G base station for onward transmission towards the disaster management station for decision making, deployment and relief monitoring. The 4G-5G gateway acts as a relay and converter of 5G signal to 4G signal and vice versa. This relayed system can be further mounted on a vehicle mounted relay (VMR) as proposed by 3GPP in Release 18. The scheme is also in the same line of context with Verizon’s, “Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response” (THOR) vehicle concept. The performance of the link is studied in different channel conditions, the throughput achieved is superb. The authors have implemented the above mentioned system towards smart campus networking and monitoring landslides activities which are common in their regions.
