The purpose of this study was to obtain the basic materials for the design instruction out of the elementary practical arts. This study investigated about the elementary design education and the elementary level's design area out of the standards for technological literacy, and analyzed an educational needs of elementary teachers for the design instruction in practical arts. The educational needs of teachers were calculated by using the Borich's formula. All teachers who taught students the 5th, 6th grade in Daegu were considered. The data was collected by using the mailed questionnaire developed by researcher and 245 cases were analyzed finally.Results of this study were as follows:1. Sample materials which are related to design in practical arts textbook focus more on esthetic·symbolic expression area and useful·functional performance area than other areas. Scientific·technological application area have smaller proportion in practical arts. 2. The required competence level and present competence level of teachers were at an average. The required competence level was beyond the present competence level to teach students, and teachers had high educational needs in some practical arts units such as electronic product making, skill embroidery and knitting working, simple supplies making, etc.3. Several recommendations were made for developing materials of design instruction for teachers in practical arts. 본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 실과 디자인 지도를 위한 교재 개발을 위한 기초 자료를 얻는데 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교 디자인 교육과 기술적 교양으로서의 디자인 교육에 대해 파악하고, 실과교과에서의 디자인 교육 관련 현황을 분석하고, 디자인 교육 요구도 조사 및 분석하였다. 교사들의 교육 요구도는 보리치의 공식을 이용하였다. 대구에 근무하는 초등 5, 6학년 담임교사들을 대상으로 하였고, 우편조사를 실시하였으며, 최종 245명을 분석 자료로 사용하였다.본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.1. 실과 디자인과 관련된 예시자료는 미적·상징적 표현 영역과 실용적·기능적 수행 영역에 집중되어 있고, 과학적·공학적 응용 영역에 관련이 적게 나타났다.2. 교사들의 요구능력수준과 현재능력수준은 보통이며, 전자제품 만들기, 스킬자수와 뜨개질 하기, 간단한 용품 만들기 등은 교육 요구도가 높게 나타났다.3. 실과에서의 교사를 위한 디자인 자료 개발의 고려사항들을 추출하였다.

초·중등교원 정보기술 소양의 현수준과 기대수준에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to survey current status of information technology literacy in Korean teachers and to give some suggestions for the preparation of prospective teachers in Korea. To achieve the purpose, data were collected using on- and off-line surveys containing questionnaires developed by the researchers. The survey items were categorized into 11 groups such as operation capability, computer use and communication, word processing, ethics, computer fundamentals, understanding of educational IT, information instruments use, application s/w use, work processing with computer, and internet use capability. Major findings were as follows: (1) Female teachers rated their IT literacy level higher than male teachers. (2) Teachers with longer teaching experience rated their IT literacy level lower than those of shorter experience. (3) There were no signigicant differences among sex, school, job grade of teachers at the present level of literacy, but there were significant differences among sex, age, carreer, job grade, and subject matter at the expectation level except for school grade.
