Reliability and Validity of the Chinese (Mandarin) Tinnitus Handicap Inventory

        Zhaoli Meng,Yun Zheng,Shixi Liu,Kai Wang,Xiudan Kong,Yong Tao,Ke Xu,Guanjian Liu 대한이비인후과학회 2012 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.5 No.1

Objectives. The Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) is a commonly used self-reporting tinnitus questionnaire. We undertook this study to determine the reliability and validity of the Chinese-Mandarin version of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI-CM) for measuring tinnitus-related handicaps. Methods. We tested the test-retest reliability, internal reliability, and construct validity of the THI-CM. Two-hundred patients seeking treatment for primary or secondary tinnitus in Southwest China were asked to complete THI-CM prior to clinical evaluation. Patients were evaluated by a clinician using standard methods, and 40 patients were asked to complete THI-CM a second time 14±3 days after the initial interview. Results. The test-retest reliability of THI-CM was high (Pearson correlation, 0.98), as was the internal reliability (Cronbach’s α, 0.93). Factor analysis indicated that THI-CM has a unifactorial structure. Conclusion. The THI-CM version is reliable. The total score in THI-CM can be used to measure tinnitus-related handicaps in Mandarin-speaking populations. Objectives. • Scalable Production of Sensor Arrays Based on High-Mobility Hybrid Graphene Field Effect Transistors

        Gao, Zhaoli,Kang, Hojin,Naylor, Carl H.,Streller, Frank,Ducos, Pedro,Serrano, Madeline D.,Ping, Jinglei,Zauberman, Jonathan,Rajesh,Carpick, Robert W.,Wang, Ying-Jun,Park, Yung Woo,Luo, Zhengtang,Ren, American Chemical Society 2016 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.8 No.41

We have developed a scalable fabrication process for the production of DNA biosensors based on gold nanoparticle-decorated graphene field effect transistors (AuNP-Gr-FETs), where monodisperse AuNPs are created through physical vapor deposition followed by thermal annealing. The FETs are created in a four-probe configuration, using an optimized bilayer photolithography process that yields chemically clean devices, as confirmed by XPS and AFM, with high carrier mobility (3590 +/- 710 cm2/V.s) and low unintended doping (Dirac voltages of 9.4 +/- 2.7 V). The AuNP-Gr-FETs were readily functionalized with thiolated probe DNA to yield DNA biosensors with a detection limit of 1 nM and high specificity against noncomplementary DNA. Our work provides a pathway toward the scalable fabrication of high-performance AuNP-Gr-FET devices for label-free nucleic acid testing in a realistic clinical setting.

The Effect of Flow Rate of a Short Sleeve Air Ventilation Garment on Torso Thermal Comfort in a Moderate Environment

        Mengmeng Zhao,Faming Wang,Chuansi Gao,Zhaoli Wang,Jun Li 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.2

In recent years, air ventilation garments (AVG) have been reported effective to improve thermal comfort. In thisstudy, an AVG incorporated with small fans was investigated on torso thermal comfort in moderate environment (Ta=25 oC,RH=50 %). Eight female subjects walked on the treadmill at a speed of 4 km·h-1 for 30 min and then rested for another30 min. During the whole test protocol, the AVG was worn in three conditions of flow rates to examine which flow rate wasthe best choice to keep thermal comfort: fans off with no air ventilation (a controlled condition, CON), low flow rate (12 l/s,LOW) and high flow rate (20 l/s, HIGH). Results showed that HIGH made significantly lowered local skin temperature of theabdomen, scapula and the lower back (p<0.05). The mean torso skin temperature in CON, LOW and HIGH in the last 5 minin the exercising stage was 32.3, 30.2 and 29.2 oC, respectively and it was 32.1, 29.5 and 28.2 oC, respectively in the restingstage. HIGH significantly mitigated thermal sensation in the 40 and 50th min (p<0.05), whereas it produced cool andunpleasant thermal sensation in the resting stage. In the whole test scenario, LOW produced the best torso thermal comfort. The low flow rate of ventilation (12 l/s) should be recommend and used in such a moderate environment to maintain torsothermal comfort.

Performance Prediction and Analysis of Adjustable-speed Permanent Magnet Eddy-current Couplings

        Zhao Li,Boyang Qu,Dazhi Wang 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.2

This paper presents an accurate yet simple analytical model to predict the torque characteristics of an adjustable-speed permanent magnet eddy-current coupling in the low slip working area. Based on an improved magnetic equivalent circuit method, the flux density is quantitatively calculated, and then the general explicit expression of electromagnetic torque is developed. Moreover, the saturation effect of ferromagnetic materials and the restricted slip have been reasonably taken into account. Compared with the 3-D finite element analysis and measurement results, the validity of this model is confirmed. In addition, several important parameters of such devices are analyzed and discussed.
