Advanced Application of Centralized Control for a Scanning Mirror System Based on EtherCAT Fieldbus

Distributed control is the most popular control strategy for controlling numerous slave devices. However, the performance of slave devices is hard to improve because the control algorithm is handled by the commercial slave devices. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid control structure that follows the concept of centralized control strategy and handles part of the control loop on the master computer in a distributed control system through EtherCAT fieldbus. In this study, different advanced control methods such as robust control and learning control were applied to handle the position control loop of a scanning mirror system in a selective laser melting (SLM) system with stringent demand of position error around 40 µm based on EtherCAT fieldbus. By designing a proper controller, the experiment results showed that the tracking performance was significantly improved. The tracking error dropped by about 80% after the proposed hybrid control structure was applied. By applying the proposed hybrid control structure, one can improve the high-performance-requirement devices, while reducing the calculationburden of the master computer for other low-performance-requirement devices by retaining the benefit of distributed Control.

Background: The prognostic value of Bcl-2 protein expression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is under debate. We therefore systematically reviewed the evidence for Bcl-2 protein effects on NSCLC survival to elucidate this issue. Materials and Methods: An electronic search in Pubmed and Embase complemented by manual searches in article references were conducted to identify eligible studies to evaluate the association between Bcl-2 protein expression and overall survival (OS) as well as disease free survival (DFS) of NSCLC patients. Combined hazard ratios (HRs) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were pooled using the random-effects model. Results: A total of 50 trials (including 52 cohorts) encompassing 7,765 patients were pooled in the meta-analysis regarding Bcl-2 expression and OS of NSCLC patients. High expression of Bcl-2 protein had a favorable impact (HR=0.76, 95%CI=0.67-0.86). In the group of Bcl-2 expression and DFS, 11 studies including 2,634 patients were included. The synthesized result indicated high expression of Bcl-2 protein might predict good DFS (HR=0.85, 95%CI=0.75-0.95). Conclusions: Our present meta-analysis demonstrated favorable prognostic values of Bcl-2 expression in patients with NSCLC. Further prospective trails are welcomed to validate the utility of assessing Bcl-2 in NSCLC patient management.

Modeling and Simulation of the Magnetic Method for High Voltage Direct Current Inspection Robot

In order to solve the slipping problem of a two-arm-wheel combined inspection robot, a maglev system based on the magnetic field of a high voltage direct current (HVDC) is proposed. The magnetic system comprises of two parts: a magnetic levitation system and a magnetic drive system. The levitation component overcomes the gravity of the robot by the Ampere force generated by current-carrying coils in the magnetic field of HVDC. The drive component utilizes the Ampere force generated by current-carrying coils in the magnetic field of HVDC as the driving force. Simulation results of the model are compared with the calculated values. The results show that the magnetic levitation method and the magnetic drive method are theoretically feasible, and the model is accurate and effective, which is of great practical significance to the physical realization of the inspection robot.

Background: Postoperative carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) is an independent predictor of survival for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), and more powerful than preoperative CA19-9. However, making decisions just dependent on postoperative CA19-9 may result in necessary treatments not being performed. Materials and Methods: A total of 178 patients with resected PDAC were eligible for this retrospective study, classified into two corresponding subgroups according to postoperative CA19-9. Prognostic significance of all clinicopathologic factors was evaluated by univariate and multivariate analyses. Results: Postoperative CA19-9, preoperative CA125 and lymph node status were independent predictors. Better predictive performances for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were achieved by postoperative CA19-9 compared to preoperative CA125 and lymph node status. Particularly, preoperative CA125 was associated with poor OS (p<0.001 for the normalized CA19-9 patients, p=0.012 for the elevated) and RFS (p=0.005 for the normalized, p=0.004 for the elevated). Moreover, preoperative CA125 levels related with survival in double-negative patients. Conclusions: Normalization of CA19-9 is not tantamount to be cured. Preoperative CA125 is a critical predictor for PDAC patients, especially in double-negative patients.

Background Excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition leads to renal fibrosis, a typical hallmark of chronic kidney disease. Liquiritin is a flavonoid extracted from the rhizome part of Glycyrrhiza glabra and has anti-fibrotic and nephroprotective effects. However, its role and underlying mechanism in renal fibrosis remain unknown. Methods Human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (HRPTEpiCs) were stimulated with 10 ng/mL TGF-β1 to induce renal fibrosis models in vitro. The morphology of HRPTEpiCs was observed under a light microscope. CCK-8 was utilized to test cell viability. Immunofluorescence staining was conducted to measure α-SMA expression in HRPTEpiCs. RT-qPCR was used to assess relative mRNA expression. The protein levels of ECM markers, epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers, and MAPK signaling-related molecules in HRPTEpiCs were tested using western blotting. Results TGF-β1-treated HRPTEpiCs showed a fibroblast-like morphology, and the morphology of HRPTEpiCs was restored by liquiritin. Liquiritin suppressed TGF-β1-stimulated ECM deposition and EMT process in HRPTEpiCs. Additionally, liquiritin repressed TGF-β1-induced MAPK signaling activation in HRPTEpiCs. Conclusion Liquiritin mitigates TGF-β1-triggered EMT process and ECM deposition in HRPTEpiCs by inactivating MAPK signaling, thus preventing renal fibrosis. Caveolin-1 is a scaffold protein on the cell membrane. As the main component of caveolae, caveolin-1 is involved in many biological processes that include substance uptake and transmembrane signaling. Many of these processes and thus caveolin-1 contribute to cell transformation, tumorigenesis, and metastasis. Of particular interest are the dual rolesof tumor suppressor and oncogene that caveolin-1 appear to play in different malignancies, including pancreatic cancer. Therefore, analyzing caveolin-1 regulators and understanding their mechanisms of actionis key to identifying novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools for pancreatic cancer. This review details the mechanisms of action of caveolin-1 regulators and the potential significance for pancreatic cancer treatment.

<P>The ability to tune material properties using gating by electric fields is at the heart of modern electronic technology. It is also a driving force behind recent advances in two-dimensional systems, such as the observation of gate electric-field-induced superconductivity and metal-insulator transitions. Here, we describe an ionic field-effect transistor (termed an iFET), in which gate-controlled Li ion intercalation modulates the material properties of layered crystals of 1T-TaS2. The strong charge doping induced by the tunable ion intercalation alters the energetics of various charge-ordered states in 1T-TaS2 and produces a series of phase transitions in thin-flake samples with reduced dimensionality. We find that the charge-density wave states in 1T-TaS2 collapse in the two-dimensional limit at critical thicknesses. Meanwhile, at low temperatures, the ionic gating induces multiple phase transitions from Mott-insulator to metal in 1T-TaS2 thin flakes, with five orders of magnitude modulation in resistance, and superconductivity emerges in a textured charge-density wave state induced by ionic gating. Our method of gate-controlled intercalation opens up possibilities in searching for novel states of matter in the extreme charge-carrier-concentration limit.</P>
Integration for Heterogeneous Manufacturing Information Systems Based on Semantic Entity

To support semantic integration for heterogeneous information systems in manufacturing enterprises, based on semantic gateway, the concept of semantic entity is defined, and the semantic entity-based integration method is studied. Semantic entity sets up conceptual structure by aggregating semantic concept from semantic gateway, and builds dynamic conceptual structure through adding or removing its general concept. By means of key business data, semantic entity identifies business object and obtains business data from its application system, and then instantiates concept structure. Based on instantiation, semantic service can obtain parameters data from business object instant, and satisfies the interface contract. Semantic entity captures data changes of business object, and then establishes status-based integration rules, defines algorithm logic of rules. By instantiating concept structure aimed to specific application system and invoking semantic service, the integration activities among information systems come true. This work has been verified by prototype system, and attained expected integration effect.
