The performance of PEMFC is known to be influenced by different operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, and humidification of the reactant gases. Especially, the humidification is essential for performance enhancement of the PEMFC because proton conductivity depends on hydration of the membrane. In this study, the visualization experiment is in order to verify dew condensation in channel of PEMFC. As the results, the dew condensation was verified through visualization experiment on the temperature variation. These problems, such as precise control of the dew condensation were resolved by supplying low humidity reactant gas.

The performance of PEMFC is known to be influenced by different operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, and humidification of the reactant gases. Especially, the humidification is essential for performance enhancement of the PEMFC because proton conductivity depends on hydration of the membrane. In this study, the experiment was conducted about the influence of humidification factors, such as water level, channel length and water temperature by using of the bubble and the membrane humidifier. As the results, it was difficult to control the exact humidity by adjusting humidification factors. But, it was resolved by exact humidity control through humidifier valve on/off control.

Recently interest of hybrid and electric vehicles is rising rapidly due to exhaust control. The lithium ion rechargeable battery has several advantages such as high energy density, no memory effect and light weight therefore the lithium ion rechargeable battery is used at hybrid and electric vehicles. In this study the electrolyte for the lithium ion rechargeable battery used in low temperature was developed and tested. EC, DMC, EMC were chosen as a solvent for the electrolyte and mix proportion was 1:1:1. LiPF? (1.1 mole with 1.0~1.5wt% PC) was chosen as a lithium salt. Experiments showed that the lithium ion rechargeable battery using the developed electrolyte kept 99% capacity of battery in low temperature(-35℃).

In this study, two types of the PEMFC stacks were chosen. Those are laminated stack and non-laminated series stack. Not only the performance of the two types of the combinations of the PEMFC stack but also the performance of component unit cells was measured on different flow rate of reaction gases each other. As the result, the performance of a laminated stack was higher than the performance of non-laminated stacks because of difference of electric resistance caused connecting cells.

Visualization experiments were carried out on a artificial defect in order to investigate the painting exfoliation mechanism on defects. The behavior of bubbles on the temperature at defects were observed through a microscope and the range of temperature was from 30 to 70degrees. As the results, bubbles made by thermal expansion of the air in defects are a cause of the painting exfoliation. Also, the thin and large expansion of bubbles in liquid paint to be under the hardening paint layer growing from the painting surface form into shape of the painting exfoliation.

In order to study the bubble growth of hydrogen and oxygen at a mesh type separator, the visualization experiment was performed by using of a transparent alkaline electrolysis stack. As a result, If the small size bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen don"t bind to the geometric shape as surface of the separator, then these discharge into the exit. But if the small size bubbles bind to the geometric shape, then these grow up a big bubble until these get larger buoyancy than external force.
Palladium에 관한 Embedded Atom Method 해석

Numerical analysis in the atomic level is necessary to analyze the relation between hydrogen absorption metals and hydrogen. The embedded atom method established on density functional theory was developed as a new means for calculating various properties and phenomena of realistic metal systems. In this study, the embedding atom method was used for calculating expansion of palladium and palladium hydride. Also, by using the electrochemical method, the palladium bar was loaded with hydrogen to measure expansion. And results through EAM analysis were compared with experiment data. As results, EAM results on palladium and palladium hydride show good agreement with experiment data. The agreement with experiment makes it an effective tool for the study of the relation between hydrogen and hydrogen absorption metals.

As the output voltage from unit cell of PEMFC is very too low voltage to use in real life, so the fuel cell is used through connecting the multiple cells. But there is a shortage of various studies about combination of PEMFC stacks. In this study, two types of the PEMFC stacks were chosen. Those are laminated stack and non-laminated parallel stack. The performance of the two types of the combinations of the PEMFC stack was measured on different flow rate of reaction gases each other. As the result, the performance of a laminated stack was higher than the performance of non-laminated parallel stacks because of difference of electric resistance caused connecting cells.
