        A New Fuzzy Adaptive Simulated Annealing Genetic Algorithm and Its Convergence Analysis and Convergence Rate Estimation

        Due to shortcomings of genetic algorithm that its convergence speed is slow and it is often premature convergence, a new improved genetic algorithm---fuzzy adaptive simulated annealing genetic algorithm (FASAGA) is presented by integrating fuzzy inference, simulated annealing algorithm and adaptive mechanism. The strong Markovian property attributed to the population sequence was deduced by mathematical modeling. Then the convergence in probability of the FASAGA was proved on the condition that the time tended to infinity. Then convergence speed of FASAGA was estimated and some quantitative results were achieved. The simulation results validated the theoretical analysis conclusions. This work is helpful to further analyze and improve optimization performance of FASAGA and other hybrid genetic algorithms.

        A Combination of Baicalin and Berberine Hydrochloride Ameliorates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis by Modulating Colon Gut Microbiota

        Baicalin and berberine hydrochloride are the main chemical compositions of Scutellariae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma, respectively. S. Radix and C. Rhizoma are two traditional Chinese herbs that are commonly used together in compounded formulations to treat colitis. Therefore, the combination of Baicalin and berberine hydrochloride (BBH) to treat colitis was studied. The results of pharmacological evaluations demonstrated the excellent protective effects of BBH on colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS). BBH could improve the morphological condition of colitis in mice and maintain the balance of proinflammation cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, IL-1β, and TNF-α) and anti-inflammation cytokines (IL-4 and IL-10). The 16s rDNA sequencing revealed that BBH was able to modulate the composition of intestinal microflora, especially the abundances of Eubacterium_brachy_group, Holdemania, Erysipelotrichaceae_UCG_003, Christensenellaceae_R-7_group, and Sellimonas. The results of PICRUSt indicated that the therapeutic effects of BBH were tightly connected with DNA synthesis, replication and repair of gut microbiota. In summary, it was concluded that BBH could protect mice against DSS-induced colitis, and the protective effects were tightly correlated with gut microbiota.

        Fed-batch Cultivation of Escherichia coli YK537 (pAET-8) for Production of phoA Promoter-controlled Human Epidermal Growth Factor

        Secretion of the expressed heterologous proteins can reduce the stress to the host cells and is beneficial to their recovery and purification. In this study, fed-batch cultures of Escherichia coli YK537 (pAET-8) were conducted in a 5-L fermentor for the secretory production of human epidermal growth factor (hEGF) whose expression was under the control of alkaline phosphatase promoter. The effects of feeding of glucose and complex nitrogen sources on hEGF production were investigated. When the fed-batch culture was conducted in a chemically de-fined medium, the cell density was 9.68 g/L and the secreted hEGF was 44.7 mg/L in a period of 60 h. When a complex medium was used and glucose was added in pH-stat mode, the secreted hEGF was improved to 345 mg/L. When the culture was fed with glucose at a constant specific rate of $0.25\;gg^{-1}h^{-1}$, hEGF reached 514 mg/L. The effects of adding a solution containing yeast extract and tryptone were further studied. Different rate of the nitrogen source feeding resulted in different levels of phosphate and acetic acid formation, thus affected hEGF expression. At the optimal feeding rate, hEGF production achieved 686 mg/L.

      • Dynamic Modeling and Parameter Identification of Magnetorheological Shock Absorber

        By dynamic analysis, the dynamic modeling of designed magnetorheological(MR) shock absorber with metering pin is established, and using the experimental data. The relation of kinematic viscosity and current, and shear stress and current are respectively identified, and the parameters of dynamic model are identified by the least square identification method. The experiment results show that the identified model has high accuracy, and can be used for the performance analysis and control system design of the shock absorber.

        Molecular dynamics study on mechanical properties of C-S-H composites

        In this paper, the mechanical properties of calcium silicate hydrate gel (C-S-H) are investigated with molecular dynamics (MD)simulations, in which the Tobermorite 9Å, Tobermorite 11Å, Tobermorite 14Å and Jennite crystals are treated as fundamentalmodels of the C-S-H nanostructure. The initial structures of the crystal models are firstly preprocessed and optimized, andthen are simulated in the canonical (NVT) ensemble conditions. The orthotropic elastic constants of the C-S-H nanostructureare determined and used to derive the bulk and shear moduli via the Voigt-Reuss-Hill method. The self-consistent, Mori-Tanaka, and Voigt methods are employed to compute the mechanical properties of various mixtures of C-S-H composites withdifferent porosities. The simulated results are found to be in a reasonable agreement with those obtained from nanoindentationtests, while the result obtained from the Mori-Tanaka method appears to be the closest to the experimental one. It could also be observed that the mechanical properties of C-S-H vary within a certain range as the porosity and proportionsof the components change.
