      • Study on Impedance Measurement Device for Grid-Connected Converters Based on Model Predictive Control

        The dynamic stability problems caused by the broadband interfering characteristics of power electronics grid-connected systems have received wide attention due to the large-scale installation of renewable energy and intelligent distribution equipment. Measuring the port impedance of grid-connected converters and determining the system stability by using Nyquist stability criterion is the most commonly used method in broadband stability studies. This paper presents an impedance measurement method by generating series disturbance voltage, where the broadband disturbance is generated by means of model predictive control (MPC) with a frequency domain segmentation model. A comparison with theoretical calculations shows that the method enables accurate measurement of the port impedance of grid-connected converters over broadband frequency range, providing a basis for system stability analysis.

        The synthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates from low carbon wastewater under anaerobic-microaerobic process: effects of pH and nitrogen and phosphorus limitation

        Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) is a new type of bio-polyester which is expected to replace traditional petroleum-based plastics. The experiment was carried out based on anaerobic-microaerobic process. Firstly, the PHA accumulation capacity of activated sludge under different pH conditions was discussed, and then the batch test of nitrogen and phosphorus limitation was carried out under the condition of optimal pH. Moreover, the content of PHA monomer under nutrient restriction was also studied. The experimental results showed that when pH was not controlled (7.5~8.5), C:N and C:P weight ratio was equal to 150, the maximum content of PHA accounted for 50.39% and 36.07% of the dry cell weight, respectively. Besides, it was found that increasing the C:N weight ratio was beneficial to increasing the proportion of polyhydroxyvalerate (PHV) monomer in PHA.

      • A Neutral-Point-Potential Balancing Strategy of Three-Level NPC Inverters by Injecting Absolute Value of Modulation Signal

        This paper presents a strategy for neutral potential (NPP) balancing in a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter by injecting the absolute value of the modulating signal. The injection involves the zero-sequence component and the 2nd harmonic component. When the power factor is large, the injected zero-sequence component maintains the balance of the neutral potential on the DC side. Besides, the injection of the 2nd harmonic component also achieves the objective of NPP balancing and the control effect is independent of the power factor. The analysis shows that when an absolute value of the modulating signal is injected, both the zero-sequence and the 2nd harmonic component lead to voltage balancing of the DC side and can be scaled adaptively to the path as the power factor changes. The NPP balancing strategy is verified by simulation from the voltage balancing effect and adaptive reduction of harmonic components.

        Laboratory and field evaluation of the repellency of six preservatives to red imported fire ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

        Baiting is widely applied for the detection and control of the red imported fire ants, Solenopsis invicta Buren. Adding preservatives into baits would prevent microbial contamination during production and storage, and might extend period of bait attractiveness in the field. However, it is not known if preservatives are repellent to S. invicta. In the present study, potential effects of six commonly used preservatives (potassiumsorbate, sodium benzoate, sodium diacetate, sodium dehydroacetate, calcium propionate, and nisin) on the foraging behaviors of S. invicta foragers were evaluated under laboratory and field conditions. Four-choice tests (laboratory study) showed that the number of foraging ants on the preservative-treated (immersed in 2000-, 5000-, or 10,000-ppm solution for 30 min) and control (immersed in distilled water for 30 min) food was similar, with an exception of sodium dehydroacetate, which significantly decreased the number of foraging ants at the three tested concentrations. Interestingly, 46%, 58% and 71% of the food items treated with 2000-, 5000- and 10,000- ppm solutions of sodium dehydroacetate were buried with soil particles, respectively, whereas only 17% of the control food was similarly buried. Multiple-choice tests (field study) showed that food treated with the 5000- or 10,000-ppm solution of sodium dehydroacetate attracted significantly fewer S. invicta workers compared to other preservatives and the controls. Our study showed that the use of sodiumdehydroacetate should be avoided during the production of aqueous-based or liquid baits against S. invicta.

        Improved FMM for well locations optimization in in-situ leaching areas of sandstone uranium mines

        Rapidly obtaining the coverage characteristics of leaching solution in In-situ Leaching Area of Sandstone Uranium Mines is a necessary condition for optimizing well locations reasonably. In the presented study, the improved algorithm of the Fast Marching Method (FMM) was studied for rapidly solving coverage characteristics to replace the groundwater numerical simulator. First, the effectiveness of the FMM was verified by simulating diffusion characteristics of the leaching solution in In-situ Leaching Area. Second, based on the radial flow pressure equation and the interaction mechanism of the front diffusion of production and injection well flow field, an improved FMM which is suitable for In-situ Leaching Mining, was developed to achieve the cosimulation of production and injection well. Finally, the improved algorithm was applied to engineering practice to guide the design and production. The results show that the improved algorithm can efficiently solve the coverage characteristics of leaching solution, which is consistent with those obtained from traditional numerical simulators. In engineering practice, the improved FMM can be used to rapidly analyze the leaching process, delineate Leaching Blind Spots, and evaluate the rationality of well pattern layout. Furthermore, it can help to achieve iterative optimization and rapid decision-making of production and injection well locations under largescale mining area models
