Purpose: E-cadherin (ECD) plays a pivotal role in integrating the normal tissue architecture and the suppression of cancer invasion, including stomach cancer. The epidemiology of stomach cancers is noticeably different according to the site of the index tumor, even though the stomach cancers all have similar gross shapes. In this study, the relation between the expression of ECD, along with the clinicopathologic parameters and recurrence or survival, were investigated for patients with gastric adenocarcinoma according to the tumor location. Methods: We examined formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded archival tissues from 50 surgically resectable gastric adenocarcinomas, which were grouped by the index tumor site as follows: distal (antrum) versus proximal (mid and upper body). To elucidate the correlation between the ECD expression and the site of the stomach cancer with the other clinicopathologic factors, we examined the ECD tissue status via performing immunohistochemistry. To compare the rates of recurrence and survival among subgroups, the patients were followed up for an average of 42 months. Results: Among the 50 tumors examined, 28 (56%) tumors showed various degrees of a ECD expression. The gender, age, size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, stage, lymphatic invasion and vascular invasion were not related with the ECD expression. The Lauren classification was correlated with the ECD expression in the mid and upper body stomach cancer, but not in the antral stomach cancer (P=0.042). The expression of ECD was not related with the survival rate (P=0.223). There was no significant difference in the recurrence rate between the subgroups with and without an abnormal expression of ECD (P=0.588). Conclusion: For the mid and upper body stomach cancer, the expression of E-cadherin correlated with the diffuse type of cancer, according to the Lauren classification, but not with the survival rate.
An Experimental Study of Pressure Drop Correlations for Wire-Wrapped Fuel Assemblies

The main objective of the present study is to perform an experimental evaluation of five existing correlations for the subchannel pressure drop analysis of a wire-wrapped fuel assembly. For this purpose, a series of water experiments have been performed using a helical wire-wrapped 19-pin fuel assembly for various test parameters. Four different test sections with different pitch to rod diameter ratios (P/D) and wire lead length to rod diameter ratios (H/D) have been fabricated. A series of pressure drop measurements were made to obtain friction factors for these four test sections. The new data along with existing data are used to evaluate existing correlations. Both the original and the simplified Cheng and Todreas correlations give the best agreement with experimental data for all flow regions.

The synthetic study of 3',5-cyclic phosphates of 2'-substituted 2',3'-secouridines and 2',3'-secoribavirins toward development of new antiviral agents is described. These cyclic phosphates were synthesized from their respective 4-nitrophenyl 3',5'-cyclic phosphate triesters. These triesters were prepared from the corresponding 2'-azido and 2'-bromo 2',3'-seconucleosides.
전기기관차 운영노선 확대에 따른 차륜마모 특성에 관한 연구

본 논문은 8200 형 전기기관차 운영노선이 2005 년 부터 국내 주요노선 전철화 및 개통에 따라 중앙선, 태백선 등 산업선에서 경부선, 호남선 등 주요노선으로 확대 운영되면서 차륜교환 주기가 급속히 도래되는 현상이 발생하였고 이에 따라 전기기관차 차륜마모 특성에 대한 연구가 필요하게 되었다. 주요 운영노선에 대하여 레일환경과 특성에 대하여 다각적으로 분석하였고, 급속히 진행되는 차륜교환 주기 도래에 대한 원인에 대하여 운영노선에서의 차륜 마모진행 과정을 실측하여 마모 특성을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한 차륜마모는 철도차량의 운영상 필연적이나 철도차량의 효율적인 운영을 위해서는 차륜마모를 최소화 할 필요성이 있어 8200 형 전기기관차 차륜마모 특성을 감안하여 마모를 최소화 할 수 있는 최적의 차륜관리 기준을 제시하였고 유지보수 방법 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. In this paper we model 8200 electric locomotives operating domestic routes since 2005 according to the center line of the main line electrification and the opening in line taebaekseon industries including Gyeongbu , Honam expanded to major routes including operating as a rapid replacement cycle wheel that are coming this phenomenon occurred wear properties of the electrical locomotive wheels became necessary for the study. The main route for the rail operating environment and characteristics were analyzed for the multi-faceted , fast wheel replacement cycle is in progress, the reason for the advent of the wheel wear for the operating routes of progression was measured to determine the wear characteristics . The operation of the railway vehicle wheel wear also inevitable and efficient operation of the railway vehicle wheel wear and the need to minimize wear properties of a 8200type electric locomotive wheels to minimize wear and tear considering the wheel of the best maintenance management standards were presented repair method was to be used as the basis.
Sperm Fertility of Transgenic Boar Harboring hEPO Gene is Decreased

This study was conducted to compare the reproduction ability of the wild type boar and recombinant human erythropoietin (hEPO) transgenic boar semen. Ejaculated boar semen was analyzed by flow cytometry, Elisa and IVF methods. In experiment 1, flow cytometric analysis showed that the live sperm ratio of transgenic boar sperm significantly lower (P<0.05) than that of wild type boar after incubation at 20, 22, 24 and 26 hr. In experiment 2, the presence and levels of various cytokines (IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α) to related animal reproduction in the seminal and blood plasma were examined using specific enzyme immunoassay. There was no significant difference between both groups. In experiment 3, the fertilizing capacity and developmental ability of both boar sperm were compared. The transgenic boar sperm had a significantly low capacity of penetration, sperm-zona binding, embryo development, and blastocyst formation compared to wild type sperm (P<0.05). These results suggest that transgenic boar sperm harboring hEPO gene has low sperm viability than wild type boar, and it is a reason to decrease of fertility and litter size.
