This paper reports the effect of adding reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as a conductive material to the composition of an electrode for capacitive deionization (CDI), a process to remove salt from water using ionic adsorption and desorption driven by external applied voltage. RGO can be synthesized in an inexpensive way by the reduction and exfoliation of GO, and removing the oxygen-containing groups and recovering a conjugated structure. GO powder can be obtained from the modification of Hummers method and reduced into RGO using a thermal method. The physical and electrochemical characteristics of RGO material were evaluated and its desalination performance was tested with a CDI unit cell with a potentiostat and conductivity meter, by varying the applied voltage and feed rate of the salt solution. The performance of RGO was compared to graphite as a conductive material in a CDI electrode. The result showed RGO can increase the capacitance, reduce the equivalent series resistance, and improve the electrosorption capacity of CDI electrode.

The objective of this research was to evaluateenzymatic glycerolysis–interesterification to synthesizestructured lipids (SLs) containing high monoacylglycerol(MAG) and diacylglycerol (DAG) from a palm stearin–olein blend (PS–PO blend). The results showed that theoptimum conditions for the solvent to fat ratio, glycerol tofat ratio, and enzyme concentration were 2:1 (v/w), 1.5:1,and 15% (w/w), respectively. The conversion rate of MAGand DAG decreased at a high glycerol to fat ratio, lowsolvent to fat ratio, and high enzyme concentration due toan increase in viscosity and low agitation effectiveness. The emulsion capacity and stability of the SLs were60.19% and 96.80%, respectively. The hardness of the SLsincreased about 3.1-fold. The MAG, DAG, and triacylglycerolconversion rates were 0.45, 0.48, and 1.02%/h,respectively. Thus, glycerolysis–interesterification of a PS–PO blend increased DAG and MAG concentrations andfurther improved the hardness, emulsion capacity, andemulsion stability of the SLs.
방사선 손상 Balb/C 마우스 모델에서 누에 체액(Silkworm Hemolymph)의 간조직 보호 효과

This study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of silkworm hemolymph againstγ-irradiation induced damage in the liver of mice. Female Balb/C mice (6 weeks old) were exposedto γ-irradiation (6 Gy) and administered orally to silkworm hemolymph (5 ml kg-1 BW) for 7 dayspost-irradiation. The body weight, spleen index, plasma aspartate transaminase (AST), plasmaalanine transaminase (ALT), and liver malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were determined. Comparedwith irradiated control mice, the activity of plasma AST and the level of MDA were significantlydecreased in mice treated silkworm hemolymph. These results show that silkworm hemolymph isfound to have a protective effect against γ-irradiation induced damage in mice.
