Acute Extrapyramidal Side Effects Following Domperidone Intake in a 48-Year-Old Female Patient: The First Genetic Alteration and Drug Interaction Characterized

Nguyen Duc Thuan,Nguyen Dang Ton 대한파킨슨병및이상운동질환학회 2022 Journal Of Movement Disorders Vol.15 No.2

Domperidone, a peripheral and central dopamine receptor antagonist with gastroprokinetic and antiemetic effects, is a widely prescribed medication in clinical practice. This agent presents very low rates of extrapyramidal side effects due to its negligible penetration through the blood–brain barrier (BBB)

Measuring and unfolding fast neutron spectra using solution-grown trans-stilbene scintillation detector

Quang Nguyen Duy,김홍주,Vuong Phan Quoc,Ton Nguyen Duc,남욱원,박원기,손종대,최영준,김성환,윤석원,예성준 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.3

We propose an overall procedure for measuring and unfolding fast neutron spectra using a trans-stilbene scintillation detector. Detector characterization was described, including the information on energy calibration, detector resolution, and nonproportionality response. The digital charge comparison method was used for the investigation of neutron-gamma Pulse Shape Discrimination (PSD). A pair of values of 600 ns pulse width and 24 ns delay time was found as the optimized conditions for PSD. A fitting technique was introduced to increase the trans-stilbene Proton Response Function (PRF) by 28% based on comparison of the simulated and experimental electron-equivalent distributions by the Cf-252 source. The detector response matrix was constructed by Monte-Carlo simulation and the spectrum unfolding was implemented using the iterative Bayesian method. The unfolding of simulated and measured spectra of Cf-252 and AmBe neutron sources indicates reliable, stable and no-bias results. The unfolding technique was also validated by the measured cosmic-ray induced neutron flux. Our approach is promising for fast neutron detection and spectroscopy.

Tomographic density imaging using modifi ed DF–DBIM approach

Tran Quang Huy,Nguyen Thi Cuc,Van Dung Nguyen,Ton That Long,Tran Duc Tan 대한의용생체공학회 2019 Biomedical Engineering Letters (BMEL) Vol.9 No.4

Ultrasonic computed tomography based on back scattering theory is the most powerful and accurate tool in ultrasound basedimaging approaches because it is capable of providing quantitative information about the imaged target and detects verysmall targets. The duple-frequency distorted Born iterative method (DF–DBIM), which uses density information along withsound contrast for imaging, is a promising approach for imaging targets at the level of biological tissues. With two frequenciesf 1 (low) and f 2 (high) through 1and 2iterations respectively, this method is used to estimate target density along withsound contrast. The implications of duple-frequency fusion for the image reconstruction quality of density information alongwith sound contrast based ultrasound tomography have been analyzed in this paper. In this paper, we concentrate on theselection of parameters that is supposed to be the best to improve the reconstruction quality of ultrasound tomography. Whenthere are restraints imposed on simulated scenarios to have control of the computational cost, the iteration number 1isdetermined resulting in giving the best performance. The DF–DBIM is only eff ective if there are a moderate number of iterations, transmitters and receivers. In case that the number of transducers is either too large or too small, a result of reconstructionwhich is better than that of the single frequency approach is not produced by the implementation of DF–DBIM. A fi xedsum of 1and 2was given, the investigation of simulation results shows that the best value of 1is[2− 1]. Theerror, when applying this way of choosing the parameters, will be normalized with the reduction of 56.11%, compared touse single frequency as used in the conventional DBIM method. The target density along with sound contrast is used to imagetargets in this paper. It is a fact that low-frequency off ers fi ne convergence, and high-frequency off ers fi ne spatial resolution. Wherefore, this technique can eff ectively expand DBIM’s applicability to the problem of biological tissue reconstruction. Thanks to the usage of empirical data, this work will be further developed prior to its application in reality.

      • Analysis and Design Optimization of Surface Permanent Magnet Motor to Improve Torque Density and Ripple

        Yussuf Shakhin,Kulash Talapiden,Nguyen Gia Minh Thao,Mehdi Bagheri,Ton Duc Do 전력전자학회 2023 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2023 No.-

Small-scale permanent magnet motor to reach high torque density and low torque ripple is discussed in this research. To increase the torque density, meanwhile making the motor size smaller and lighter, the motor axial length within a constrained diameter is optimized in view of various pole-slot configurations. Different slot-poles are selected and various combinations are studied, and the stator windings are optimized. To compare the torque density and ripple of new designs, precise models are created and simulated through ANSYS Maxwell 2D FEA under constant operational conditions, such as rated speed, torque, and power. Over the new designs, the influence of loss and temperature distribution variations in motor elements are analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed 20-pole 18-slot motor design will obtain superior torque density and lower torque ripple compared to the baseline design. The final design provides a 30.7 % improvement of the torque density within the same rated torque condition.
