The efficiency of decontamination of model spent ion exchange resins, contaminated with magnetite and hematite, with mineral acid solutions, and using electro-decontamination, was evaluated. It has been shown that effective hematite dissolution occurs in concentrated mineral acid solutions. However, the use of direct current increases the decontamination efficiency of spent ion exchange resins contaminated with hematite. It is determined that with increasing voltage and acid concentration, the dissolution efficiency of hematite deposits increases and can exceed 99%. It has been shown that hematite dissolution is accompanied by secondary adsorption of radionuclides due to ion exchange, which can be removed with sodium nitrate solutions.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Millions of individuals worldwide, particularly those living in rural and developing areas, are exposed to harmful levels of inorganic arsenic (iAs) in their drinking water. Inorganic As exposure during key developmental periods is associated with a variety of adverse health effects, including those that are evident in adulthood. There is considerable interest in identifying the molecular mechanisms that relate early-life iAs exposure to the development of these latent diseases, particularly in relationship to cancer.</P><P><B>Objectives</B></P><P>This work summarizes research on the molecular mechanisms that underlie the increased risk of cancer development in adulthood that is associated with early-life iAs exposure.</P><P><B>Discussion</B></P><P>Epigenetic reprogramming that imparts functional changes in gene expression, the development of cancer stem cells, and immunomodulation are plausible underlying mechanisms by which early-life iAs exposure elicits latent carcinogenic effects.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Evidence is mounting that relates early-life iAs exposure and cancer development later in life. The article considers the improved method and model of automated air situation assessment using a decision support system based on fuzzy networks of target installations. The advanced method of automated assessment of the air situation using the decision support system is based on the methodology of reflexive control of the first rank. With this approach, the process of assessing the air situation in the framework of the formulated task can be reduced to determining the purpose, probabilistic nature of actions and capabilities of the air target. The use of a homogeneous functional network for the formal presentation of air situation assessment processes will formally describe the process of determining classes of events during air situation assessment and the process of determining quantitative and qualitative characteristics of recognized air situation situations. To formalize the patterns of manifestation of the values of quantitative and symbolic information, it is proposed to use the mathematical apparatus of fuzzy sets.
The Features of Ukrainian Media Art in a Global Context

The article seeks to explore Ukrainian media art and its features in a global context. In particular, it performs an in-depth analysis of the stages of its development from video art of the 1990s, media installations of the 2000s, and to various digital and VR technologies today. Due to historical circumstances, the development of media art was quite rapid, as young artists sought to gain new experience in media art. Most often, their experience was broadened through international cooperation and studying abroad. The paper analyzes the presentation of Ukrainian media art outside the country during 1993-2020 and distinguishes the main thematic areas of the artists' work. It examines how artists present and reveal the peculiarities of the Ukrainian worldview, aesthetics, and culture through the problematization of certain aspects and themes in their work. Specifically, among the principal topics which are problematized in the work of media artists are a sensory experience, limited sensory capabilities, gender issues, the Chernobyl tragedy, the development of utopian models of the city, and global communication. The leading themes of Ukrainian artists also include revolution and war. Notably, political and social sentiments determine the unique energy and vitality of contemporary Ukrainian art, create a revolutionary creative environment, and unite media artists in group art projects. It is concluded that by showing, exhibiting, and presenting them outside the country, artists shape the image of Ukrainian art in a global context.

Rare Case of a Patient With Erdheim-Chester Disease Presenting With Atypical Breast Involvement

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare multisystem disorder characterized by mitogenactivated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway mutations. Herein, we present a unique case of ECD in a 79-year-old female with predominant breast nodules. Comprehensive imaging and histopathological evaluations confirmed the diagnosis. Mammography and ultrasonography revealed multiple hyperdense circumscribed nodules with coalescing masses and blurred margins. Core biopsy revealed infiltrating foamy cluster of differentiation (CD) 68+ and CD1a+ histiocytes. Because the tumor was negative for the BRAF V600E mutation, treatment with interferon-α was initiated. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges associated with ECD, the rarity of breast involvement, and the importance of considering ECD in the differential diagnosis of atypical breast lesions. Comprehensive imaging, histopathology, and genetic testing are essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment decision-making in ECD. Further research and awareness are required to improve recognition and management of this rare disease.

This study aimed to determine individual and combined effects of smoking and marination on the sensory characteristics of boneless, skinless chicken breast meat. Four types of cooked, cold-cut chicken breast meat, i.e., marinated cooked, marinated smoked, and controls of non-marinated cooked and non-marinated smoked chicken, were evaluated for 28 sensory characteristics. Marination significantly increased saltiness, sweetness, roasted flavor, smoked flavor, and moistness of the cold-cut chicken breast meat. In addition, smoking significantly enhanced the saltiness, bitterness, roasted flavor, smoked flavor, and moistness of mass. Interestingly, a combination of smoking and marination processes resulted in a synergistic increase in the perceived moistness of mass compared to their individual treatments. In conclusion, this study demonstrates individual and combined influences of smoking and marination on the sensory characteristics of cold-cut chicken breast meat.

<P> This study aimed to determine whether acceptability of rice-based milk alternatives (RMAs) is influenced by sensory attributes and nonsensory factors, in particular with respect to US consumers' demographic profiles, frequency of RMA consumption, and food neophobia traits. Ten trained panelists evaluated 7 commercially-available RMA samples with respect to 23 attributes, and 101 consumer panelists rated both hedonic impressions and just-about-right (JAR) intensities of attributes among the 7 RMA samples. Descriptive sensory analysis revealed that the 7 RMA samples differed significantly in terms of the 13 attributes. A partial least squares regression found that overall liking of RMAs was positively associated with higher intensities of sweetness, astringency, and nutty, vanillin, and grainy flavor attributes, while it was negatively associated with higher intensities of yeasty/fermented, vanillin, and starchy aromas, yeasty/fermented and cardboard flavors, bitter and sour tastes, and dark color. Consumers with higher food neophobia traits were found to like flavors of RMAs less. Overall likings of RMAs did not differ as a function of gender, age group, annual household income, and frequency of RMA consumption. In conclusion, this study provides a better understanding of sensory attributes, consumer acceptability, and drivers of likingfor commercially-available RMAs in the U.S.market. </P>
