The purpose of this study is to introduce self-illuminated LEDs to maximize visibility over long distances, develop the system to recognize living bodies from afar, and attach them to safety vests to enable detachment and continuous operation. Ultimately it is to prevent accidents and casualties during roadside work orwhen pedestrians are walking or crossing the road, and in industrial work or hiking at night. To make the vest and suspender-type safety belt which attached LEDs, we prepared a width of 5cm retroreflective films and shoulder bands. In addition, multi-color LED light sources and controller for improving visibility prepared, and programs were developed to control them. And a portable charging auxiliary battery has been prepared as a power source for system operation LEDs for improving visibility were combined with protective lens covers and were located between the retroreflective film and the belt. The power connection between LEDs was connected by wires that are well-current and flexible considering the flexibility of the belt as well. On the waist of the completed belt, control system is disposed. It was programmed to flash at constant intervals when power is applied by the switch. Also, in order to increase visibility during operation, the suspender was extended from the shoulders to the upper arms. The making method is to insert an LED between the retroreflective film and the auxiliary film and attach the T-shaped detachable LED armbands. Additionally those keep blinking or constant lighting so that the wearer's location and movement, such as a night operator, can be perceived better.
Properties of the Blends of Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate and Ethylene-$\alpha$-Olefins Copolymers

The effect of the vinyl acetate (VA) content on the thermal, viscoelastic, rheological, morphological and mechanical behaviors in various blends of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA)/ethylene-$\alpha$-olefin copolymers was investigated using 28, 22 and $15 mol\%$ of VA in EVA. In the DSC melting and crystallization thermograms of all of the EVA systems blended with ethylene-$\alpha$-olefin copolymers, discrete peaks were observed which were related to the constituents. In the dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, the storage modulus increased with increasing content of ethylene-$\alpha$-olefin copolymers. In addition, the transition regions relating to the tan bpeaks varied with the VA content. The crossover point between G' and G" varied depending on the VA contents, and shear-thinning was more prominent in the EVA/EtBC system. In the SEM investigation, a discrete phase morphology was observed in both the EVA/EtBC and EVA/EtOC blends, but the contrast improved with decreasing VA content. However, the tensile strength and modulus improved, but the elongation at break reduced with decreasing VA content, implying that the ethylene-$\alpha$-olefin copolymers play the role of reinforcing materials. Thus, the EVA and ethylene-$\alpha$-olefin components in the copolymers are immiscible in the molten and solid states, but are nevertheless mechanically compatible.
Partially Occluded Facial Image Retrieval Based on a Similarity Measurement

<P>We present a partially occluded facial image retrieval method based on a similarity measurement for forensic applications. The main novelty of this method compared with other occluded face recognition algorithms is measuring the similarity based on Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) matching between normal gallery images and occluded probe images. The proposed method consists of four steps: (i) a Self-Quotient Image (SQI) is applied to input images, (ii) Gabor-Local Binary Pattern (Gabor-LBP) histogram features are extracted from the SQI images, (iii) the similarity between two compared images is measured by using the SIFT matching algorithm, and (iv) histogram intersection is performed on the SIFT-based similarity measurement. In experiments, we have successfully evaluated the performance of the proposed method with the commonly used benchmark database, including occluded facial images. The results show that the correct retrieval ratio was 94.07% in sunglasses occlusion and 93.33% in scarf occlusion. As such, the proposed method achieved better performance than other Gabor-LBP histogram-based face recognition algorithms in eyes-hidden occlusion of facial images.</P>
Targeting the Gut Microbiome to Ameliorate Cardiovascular Diseases

The bacterial cells located within the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) outnumber the host"s cells by a factor of ten. These human digestive-tract microbes are referred to as the gut microbiota. During the last ten years, our understanding of gut microbiota composition and its relation with intra- and extra-intestinal diseases including risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) such as atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome, have greatly increased. A question which frequently arises in the research community is whether one can modulate the gut microbial environment to "control" risk factors in CVD. In this review, we summarized promising intervention methods, based on our current knowledge of intestinal microbiota in modulating CVD. Furthermore, we explore how gut microbiota can be therapeutically exploited by targeting their metabolic program to control pathologic factors of CVD.

Studying the historical, cultural literature on persimmon dyeing and Galot in Korea and Japan, the aim is to reveal the similarities and differences between the traditional persimmon dyeing and Galot of the two countries. The beginning of persimmon dyeing in Korea is estimated to around 13-14th century, however no documents or records found to support it. Meanwhile, there are records of persimmon dyeing in Japan from around 10th century, but they are not admitted in Japan. The main difference of fabricating method persimmon juice between the two countries is the presence and absence of the fermentation. Traditional persimmon dyeing of the historical and folk cultural significance of the two countries was very different in using of persimmon dyeing and the wearing of Galot in the early days. In Korea, it was mainly used as labor clothing for farmers and fishermen, taking advantage of its functional properties, while in Japan, it was used as fishing tools or industrial materials, moreover Galot (Kakigoromo) was worn by monks. There are also differences of two countries in modern persimmon dyeing and Galot. Korea is developing creative modern Galot. Japan is attempting to make the modern Galot feeling the relaxation from the natural persimmon-dyeing color.
