An Implementation of Web-based Stepwise Learning System for the Mathematical Problems

This study is designed to use the stepwise learning system for solving learner-oriented problem on the Web, which can help learners probe studying targets and contents of mathematics as well as search for a study-related materials. The study provides a Web-based Courseware design model based on the general multimedia systematic professor design model. It develops a program for remote lecture that can solve problems through interaction among a professor and the other learners. It also implements a remote teaming system for real-time environment of mathematical problems oriented by the learner. The system designed either as a Web-based mathematical Courseware or as a text mode has the purpose of providing a Web-based stepwise learning system for solving mathematical problems oriented by the learner.
BITRATE-QUANTIZATION MODEL FOR H.264 BITSTREAM TRANSCODING

In this paper, the relation between the rate and the quantization step size is examined for transcoding in the H.264 video coding systems, the latest video compression technique. Transcoding converts the bit stream which has been quantized by a certain quantization parameter to the desired rate through re-quantization when lower rates are required. For this type of conversion, the relation between the rate and the quantization should be defined, first of all. Hereupon, this study proposes the relation regarding the H.264 encoder and verifies the validity of the model that has been proposed in the simulation.
Picture Quality Control by Priority Among Multiple Video Sources

When the multiple video sources are transmitted together through the channel of fixed bandwidth, an efficient picture quality control is necessary. This paper presents a joint picture quality control method to satisfy the user requirement by priority among the video sources. The better picture quality is assigned to the source of higher priority compared to lower priority. We obtain the bitrate for each source to have a required distortion level among the sources by using an approximate distortion-bitrate model for simple implementation. It is shown by simulation that the proposed bandwidth allocation method can keep almost the user-required picture quality among the sources in comparison to an independent bandwidth allocation method.
English Input Keypad Method Using Picker -Based Interface

By according to the development of the mobile devices, a touch screen provides the variety of inputting character and the flexibility of user interface. Currently, the physically simple touch method is widely used for English input but this simple touch is not increasing the variety of inputs and flexibility of the user interfaces. In this paper, we propose a new method to input English characters continuously by recognizing gestures instead of the simple touches. The proposed method places the rotational pickers on the screen for changing the alphabetical sequence instead of the keys and inputs English characters through the flick gestures and the touches. Simulation results show that the proposed keypad method has better performance than the keypad of the conventional methods.
스마트폰 자이로센서를 이용한 시각장애인용 광학문자인식 방법

현대 사회에서 스마트폰은 장착된 고화질의 카메라를 이용하여 광학문자인식시스템을 구현할 수 있다. 광학문자시스템으로부터 인식된 문자들은 또한 TTS를 이용하여 시각장애인들에게 음성 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 문자 정보가 들어있는 객체에 대하여 스마트 폰 카메라를 사용하여 촬영하는 것도 시각장애인들에게는 다소 어려운 일이다. 왜냐하면 피사체의 촬영 이미지를 볼 수가 없기 때문이다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 스마트폰의 자이로 센서를 사용하여 시각장애인들의 올바른 촬영을 유도하는 방법을 제안한다. 구현된 프로그램을 사용하여 모의 실험한 결과, 제안된 방법은 같은 객체로부터 보다 많은 문자를 인식하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. It is possible to implement an optical character recognition system using a high-resolution camera mounted on smart phones in the modern society. Further, characters extracted from the implemented application is possible to provide the voice service for the visually impaired person by using TTS. But, it is difficult for the visually impaired person to properly shoot the objects that character information are included, because it is very hard to accurately understand the current state of the object. In this paper, we propose a method of inducing an appropriate shooting for the visually impaired persons by using a smartphone gyro sensor. As a result of simulation using the implemented program, we were able to see that it is possible to recognize the more character from the same object using the proposed method.
