Kalman Filtering with Optimally Scheduled Measurements in Bandwidth Limited Communication Media
Mohammad Mahdi Share Pasand,Mohsen Montazeri 한국전자통신연구원 2017 ETRI Journal Vol.39 No.1
A method is proposed for scheduling sensor accesses to the shared network in a networked control system. The proposed method determines the access order in which the sensors are granted medium access through minimization of the state estimation error covariance. Solving the problem by evaluating the error covariance for each possible ordered set of sensors is not practical for large systems. Therefore, a convex optimization problem is proposed, which yields approximate yet acceptable results. A state estimator is designed for the augmented system resulting from the incorporation of the optimally chosen communication sequence in the plant dynamics. A car suspension system simulation is conducted to test the proposed method. The results show promising improvement in the state estimation performance by reducing the estimation error norm compared to roundrobin scheduling.

To improve the bioavailability of ampicillin trihydrate (AMP) as a poorly water-soluble drug, the nanonization of AMP particles was carried out by solvent anti-solvent precipitation for the first time. In this method the subcritical water (SW) and cold water at ambient conditions were utilized as the solvent and anti-solvent, respectively. At first, the solubility of AMP in SW was measured. The solubility of AMP in SW at a constant pressure of 5MPa and the temperature range from 303.15 to 403.15 K was found to range from 0.380×103 to 17.689×103 mole fractions. The effects of three independent variables, including SW temperature, polyethylene glycol concentration, and anti-solvent temperature, on the particle size and morphology of the precipitated nanoparticles were studied. The obtained results of analyses confirmed that the AMP particles were nanosized to the smallest mean size of 66.5 nm using an environmentally friendly method without the requirement of organic solvents and related post-processing purification stages.
Disturbance Retrieving Unknown Input Proportional Integral Observer for Generalized Linear Systems
M.M. Share Pasand,H.D. Taghirad 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
An unknown input retrieving observer scheme is proposed which not only decouples unknown inputs in estimation but also gives an estimation of the decoupled input. The provided method benefits from its low computational cost as well as its less restrictive existence conditions compared to existing ones.
Descriptor Approach to Unknown Input PI Observer Design
M.M. Share Pasand,H.D. Taghirad 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
the descriptor observer approach is improved further to a more suitable observer scheme which is applicable to a more general group of faults and systems. Also a disturbance decoupling scheme is added to the mentioned observer in order to enable the observer to distinguish faults from disturbances.
Synthetic ion transporters can induce apoptosis by facilitating chloride anion transport into cells
Ko, Sung-Kyun,Kim, Sung Kuk,Share, Andrew,Lynch, Vincent M.,Park, Jinhong,Namkung, Wan,Van Rossom, Wim,Busschaert, Nathalie,Gale, Philip A.,Sessler, Jonathan L.,Shin, Injae Nature Publishing Group 2014 Nature chemistry Vol.6 No.10
Anion transporters based on small molecules have received attention as therapeutic agents because of their potential to disrupt cellular ion homeostasis. However, a direct correlation between a change in cellular chloride anion concentration and cytotoxicity has not been established for synthetic ion carriers. Here we show that two pyridine diamide-strapped calix[4]pyrroles induce coupled chloride anion and sodium cation transport in both liposomal models and cells, and promote cell death by increasing intracellular chloride and sodium ion concentrations. Removing either ion from the extracellular media or blocking natural sodium channels with amiloride prevents this effect. Cell experiments show that the ion transporters induce the sodium chloride influx, which leads to an increased concentration of reactive oxygen species, release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and apoptosis via caspase activation. However, they do not activate the caspase-independent apoptotic pathway associated with the apoptosis-inducing factor. Ion transporters, therefore, represent an attractive approach for regulating cellular processes that are normally controlled tightly by homeostasis.
