The measurement of wind resource is very important during the power performance test for wind turbine and the economical feasibility study for wind farm. In this paper, we carried out an analysis for shading effect of 80 meter triangular lattice meterological mast. Total measuring data sets were used. According to result for analysis, the ratio of wind speed(between zone under shading effect and zone under no shading effect of mast) is approximately doped 40% in azimuth of case and in azimuth of specified, is raised 10%.

This study suggests a modeling of grid-connected wind turbine generation system that has induction generator, and aims to perform simulations for outputs by the variation of actual wind speed and for fault current of wind generation system. MATLAB & SIMULINK implemented modeling of grid-connected wind turbine generation system.

Wind monitoring system is an absolutely-required system for assessing a performance and fatigue load of the wind energy generator in an on-shore wind energy experimental research complex. It was implemented for the purpose of monitoring the wind information measured from a meteorological tower at the monitoring house and of utilizing the measured data for the performance assessment, by using the LabVIEW program. Then, by adding the performance assessment-related data acquired from the wind energy generator during the performance assessment and the data recorder for synchronizing the data of meteorological tower, the system was implemented. Because it transmitted the data by converting the output 'RS-232' of data logger which measures the wind condition into CAN protocol, the data error rate was minimized, This paper is intended to explain the developed wind data monitoring system.

Because it transmitted the data by converting the output 'RS-232' of data logger which measures the wind condition into CAN protocol, the data error rate was minimized. Also, This paper is introduced to make the best use of the developed monitoring system and to explain about construct of the system and detailed data communication of its system.

Antarctic King Sejong Station was established in King George Island, the South Pole in 1988, and has been executing the monitoring studies on the change of antarctic natural environment. As an available power, the wind energy generator has been used in the form of hybrid with mainly diesel generator. Because the wind generation power sharply changes by wind energy, it must be careful during the system operation. When the power system becomes stable, the output performance of wind energy generator becomes stable. But, in case of unstable system, the errors frequently occur on the wind energy generator and it badly impacts the power system by output of wind energy generator. The purpose of this paper is to analyze suitability while operating the system of 10kW wind energy generator at Antarctic King Sejong Station, an isolated area, and to analyze the problem and improvements by power quality.

Wind/diesel hybrid operation can be one of the most effective option for electrical power production at a remote area such as Antarctica. The king Sejong station at Antarctica relies its power production on diesel engines and diesel oil is supplied every other year by ships. However, the oil transportation processes are liable to potential oil spillage caused by the floating ice around the King George island. The long-term storage of the oil at the station can also contaminate the surrounding soils. A 10㎾ wind turbine has been inslalled to save oil consumption and operated in connection with the diesel generators since 2006. The diesel engine that operated poorly during the first year of installation was replaced in 2008 to enhance power production an recent measurements indicate that both diesel power quality and the wind turbine availability have been dramatically improved by the replacement. This report discusses electrical power qualities of wind/diesel hybrid system operating at an isolated micro gird located in the king Sejong station. Our experience reveals that the similar technologies can be appliecl to domestic islands, for example, in the south sea.
