Challenges and Future of Wireless Capsule Endoscopy
Jean-Christophe Saurin,Nicolas Beneche,Christine Chambon,Mathieu Pioche 대한소화기내시경학회 2016 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.49 No.1
In 2015, capsule endoscopy was introduced as the main investigation method for small bowel mucosal diseases, and its role in colonic diseases has been gradually revealed. Future challenges for capsule endoscopy, besides improvements of image quality and visualization of each part of the small bowel and colonic mucosa, include the development of gastric capsules, the capacity to perform histological examination of the mucosa, and maybe in the future, some capsule endoscopy-driven therapeutics. The aim of this review was to evaluate the clinical demands and feasibility of achieving the aforementioned objectives.
Cancer Stem Cells and Stemness Markers in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinomas
Patel, Shanaya Saurin,Shah, Kanisha Atul,Shah, Manoj Jashwantbhai,Kothari, Kiran Champaklal,Rawal, Rakesh Mahesh Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.20
Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is one of the world top ten most common cancers with its highest occurrence in the Indian subcontinent and different aggressive and etiological behavioural patterns. The scenario is only getting worst with the 5 year survival rates dropping to 50%, persistent treatment failures and frequent cases of relapse/recurrence. One of the major reasons for these failures is the presence of cancer stem cells (CSCs), a small population of cancer cells that are highly tumourigenic, capable of self-renewal and have the ability to differentiate into cells that constitute the bulk of tumours. Notably, recent evidence suggests that cancer stem cells are especially resistant to conventional therapy and are the "drivers" of local recurrence and metastatic spread. Specific markers for this population have been investigated in HNSCC in the hope of developing a deeper understanding of their role in oral cancer pathogenesis, elucidating novel biomarkers for early diagnosis and newer therapeutic strategies. This review covers the fundamental relevance of almost all the CSC biomarkers established to date with a special emphasis on their impact in the process of oral tumourigenesis and their potential role in improving the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of OSCC patients.
Optimization of a composite beam for high-speed railroads
Vladimir Y. Poliakov,Vasyli V. Saurin 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.37 No.4
The paper describes an optimization method based on the mathematical model of interaction within multibody ‘bridge-track-cars” dynamic system. The interaction is connected with considerable dynamic phenomena influenced by high traffic speed (up to 400 km/h) on high-speed railroads. The trend analysis of a structure is necessary to determine the direction and resource of optimizing the system. Thus, scientific methods of decision-making process are necessary. The process requires a great amount of information analysis dealing with behavior and changes of the “bridge-track-cars system” that consists of mechanisms and structures, including transitions. The paper shows the algorithm of multi-criteria optimization that can essentially reduce weight of a bridge superstructure using big data analysis. This reduction is carried out in accordance with the constraints that have to be satisfied in any case. Optimization of real steel-concrete beam is exemplified. It demonstrates possibility of measures that are offered by the algorithm.
