Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transgastric drainage has been performed as a less invasive procedure for pancreatic fistulasand intra-abdominal abscesses occurring after surgery in recent years. However, there are no reports of EUS-guided transgastricdrainage of intra-abdominal abscesses following gastrectomy. This case report describes 2 patients who developed an intra-abdominalabscess following gastrectomy and underwent EUS-guided transgastric drainage. Both patients underwent laparoscopy-assisted distalgastrectomy with Billroth-I reconstruction for gastric cancer. The intra-abdominal abscesses were caused by postoperative pancreaticfistula that developed following gastrectomy. One patient underwent naso-cystic drainage and the other underwent only a needlepuncture of the abscess cavity. EUS-guided drainage was performed safely and effectively, although 1 patient developed gastroduodenalanastomotic leakage related to this procedure. In summary, EUS-guided transgastric drainage is safe and technically feasible evenin post-gastrectomy patients. However, it is necessary to be careful if this procedure is performed in the early period followinggastrectomy.
Design of Seismic Isolated Tall Building with High Aspect-Ratio

When seismic isolation system is applied to high aspect-ratio (height/wide-ratio) steel structures, there are several problems to be taken into consideration. One is lifting up tensile force on the isolation bearing by overturning moment caused by earthquake. Another is securing building stiffness to produce seismic isolation effects. Under these conditions, this paper reports the structural design of high-rise research building in the campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. With the stepping-up system for the corner bearings, the narrow sides of single span framework are designed to concentrate the dead load as counter-weight for the tensile reaction under earthquake. Also we adopted concrete in-filled steel column and Mega-Bracing system covering four layers on north & south framework to secure the horizontal stiffness of the building.
Characteristics of Barkhausen Noise Properties and Hysteresis Loop on Tensile Stressed Rolled Steels

The rolled steels for welded structure applied tensile stress have been examined by means of magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) method and of a physical parameter obtained from a hysteresis loop. The behaviors of MBN parameters and coercive force with tensile stress were discussed in relation to microstructure changes. There is no change in MBN parameters and coercive force below yield strength. The coercive force rises rapidly with tensile stress above yield strength. On the other hand, the rms voltage and the peak in averaged rms voltage take a maximum around yield strength and then decreases. The magnetomotive force at peak in the averaged rms voltage shows a minimum around yield strength. These phenomena are attributed to the combined effects of cell texture and dislocation density. In addition, the behaviors of MBN parameters around yield strength may be reflected by the localized changes in strain field due to the formation of dislocation tangles.
Magnetic NDE for Sensitization of Inconel 600 Alloy

Inconel 600 alloy, Ni base alloy, is widely used for steam generator tubings where sensitization occurs at grain boundaries and sensitization will induce tubing failures. This alloy has usually paramagnetic property, however, it transforms into ferromagnetic property along grain boundaries when sensitization occurs: this means NDE using magnetism for sensitization is possible. Therefore, in this study, Inconel 600 alloys were heat treated at 873 K from 0 to 400 hours so as to generate sensitization and their magnetic properties were investigated in detail. The saturation and the residual magnetization increase with increasing heat treatment time and take a maximum. On the other hand, the coercive force decreases with the increase in time of heat treatment. We confirmed that characteristics at only grain boundaries change into ferromagnetic phase by a MFM observation. As a trial for industrial application, heat treated Inconel 600 alloy was scanned by a magnetic field sensor, and the variations in magnetization were obtained nondestructively. The results indicate a feasibility of magnetic NDE for sensitization of Inconel 600 alloy.
