Analysis, Design, and Implementation of a Single-Phase Power-Factor Corrected AC-DC Zeta Converter with High Frequency Isolation

Singh, Bhim,Agrawal, Mahima,Dwivedi, Sanjeet The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2008 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.3 No.2

This paper deals with the analysis, design, and implementation of a single phase AC-DC Zeta converter with high frequency transformer isolation and power factor correction(PFC) in two modes of operation, discontinuous current mode of operation(DCM), and continuous current mode of operation(CCM). A Digital Signal Processor(DSP) based implementation is carried out for validation of the Zeta converter developed design in discontinuous mode of operation. A comparison of both modes of operation is presented for a 1kW power rating from the point of view of steady state and dynamic behavior, power quality, simplicity, control technique, device rating, and converter size. The experimental results of a developed prototype of Zeta converter are presented for validation of the developed design. It is observed that CCM is most suitable for higher power applications where it requires some complex control and sensing of the additional variables.

      • Clinico-pathology of Lung Cancer in a Regional Cancer Center in Northeastern India

Mandal, Sanjeet Kumar,Singh, Thaudem Tomcha,Sharma, Takhenchangbam Dhaneshor,Amrithalingam, Venkatesan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12

Background: Globally, there have been important changes in trends amongst gender, histology and smoking patterns of lung cancer cases. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 466 patients with lung cancer who were registered in Regional Cancer Center, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Manipur from January 2008 to December 2012. Results: Most were more than 60 years of age (67.8%) with a male: female ratio of 1.09:1. Some 78.8% of patients were chronic smokers with male smoker to female smoker ratio of 1.43:1. Consumption of alcohol was found in 29.4%, both smoking and alcohol in 27.5%, betel nut chewing in 37.9% and tobacco chewing in 25.3%. A history of tuberculosis was present in 16.3% of patients. The most frequent symptom was coughing (36.6%) and most common radiological presentation was a mass lesion (70%). Most of the patients had primary lung cancer in the right lung (60.3%). The most common histological subtype was squamous cell carcinoma (49.1%), also in the 40-60 year age group (45.9%), more than 60 year age group (51.6%), males (58.1%) and females (41.8%). As many as 91.9% of squamous cell carcinoma patients had a history of smoking. About 32.5% of patients had distant metastasis at presentation with brain (23.8%) and positive malignant cells in pleural effusions (23.1%) as common sites. The majority of patients were in stage III (34.4%), stage IV (32.5%) and stage II (30.2%). Conclusions: Our analysis suggests that the gender gap has been narrowed such that about half of the patients diagnosed with lung cancer are women in this part of India. This alarming rise in female incidence is mainly attributed to an increased smoking pattern. Squamous cell carcinoma still remains the commonest histological subtype. Most of the patients were elderly aged and presented at locally or distantly advanced stages.

Ecobiotechnological Approach for Exploiting the Abilities of Bacillus to Produce Co-polymer of Polyhydroxyalkanoate.

        Kumar, Prasun,Singh, Mamtesh,Mehariya, Sanjeet,Patel, Sanjay K S,Lee, Jung-Kul,Kalia, Vipin C Association of Microbiologists of India 2014 Indian journal of microbiology Vol.54 No.2

Ecobiotechnological approach is an attractive and economical strategy to enrich beneficial microbes on waste biomass for production of Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). Here, six strains of Bacillus spp. were used to produce co-polymers of PHA from pea-shells. Of the 57 mixed bacterial cultures (BCs) screened, two of the BCs, designated as 5BC1 and 5BC2, each containing 5 strains could produce PHA co-polymer at the rate of 505-560?mg/l from feed consisting of pea-shell slurry (PSS, 2?% total solids) and 1?% glucose (w/v). Co-polymer production was enhanced from 65-560?mg/l on untreated PSS to 1,610-1,645?mg/l from PSS treated with defined hydrolytic bacteria and 1?% glucose. Supplementation of the PSS hydrolysate with sodium propionate enabled 5BC1 to produce co-polymer P(3HB-co-3HV) with a 3HV content up to 13?% and a concomitant 1.46-fold enhancement in PHA yield. Using the principles of ecobiotechnology, this is the first demonstration of PHA co-polymer production by defined co-cultures of Bacillus from biowaste as feed under non-axenic conditions.

Obstetric outcome of induction of labor using prostaglandin gel in patients with previous one cesarean section

        Vijayata Sangwan,Sunita Siwach,Pinki Lakra,Mukesh Sangwan,Sanjeet Singh,Rajiv Mahendru 대한산부인과학회 2019 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.62 No.6

ObjectiveAfter globally acceptance of planned vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC), the mode of induction is still amatter of debate and requires further discussion. We aimed to study obstetric outcomes in post-cesarean patientsundergoing induction of labor with prostaglandin gel compared with patients who developed spontaneous laborpains. MethodsAll patients at 34 weeks or more of gestation with previous one cesarean section eligible for trial of labor aftercesarean section admitted in a labor room within one year were divided in 2 groups. Group one consisted of patientswho experienced the spontaneous onset of labor pains and group 2 consisted of patients who underwent inductionof labor with prostaglandin gel. They were analyzed for maternofetal outcomes. Descriptive statistics, independentsample t-test, and chi-square test were applied using SPSS 20 software for statistical analysis. ResultsBoth groups were comparable in maternal age, parity, and fetal weight, but different in bishop score, mode ofdelivery, and neonatal outcome. Admisson bishop score was 6.61±2.51 in group 1 and 3.15±1.27 in group 2 (P<0.005). In the patients who experienced spontaneous labor, 86.82% had successful VBAC. In the patients with induced labor,64.34% had successful VBAC with an average dose of gel of 1.65±0.75. Both groups had one case each of uterinerupture. The neonatal intensive care unit admission rate was 4.1% in group one and 10.4% in group 2. ConclusionThis study reflects that supervised labor induction with prostaglandin gel in previous one cesarean section patients isa safe and effective option.
