Sabari Arul, N.,In Han, Jeong,Chen, Pao Chi Springer-Verlag 2018 Journal of solid state electrochemistry Vol.22 No.1
<P>In this study, we have fabricated a novel beta-Ni(OH)(2) hierarchical nanostructures (HNs) a gamma-Fe2O3 nanohexagons (NHs) and investigated their potential as electrode material for high-performance asymmetric supercapacitor. The X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analyses confirmed the presence of beta-Ni(OH)(2) and gamma-Fe2O3 in the obtained products. The electrochemical performance of single electrodes containing beta-Ni(OH)(2) HNs and gamma-Fe2O3 NHs supported on the nickel foam exhibited high specific capacitances of 3232.08 and 1800.06 F g(-1) at the current densities of 3 and 13 mA cm(-2), respectively. As a result, we have fabricated an asymmetric supercapacitor device using beta-Ni(OH)(2) HN gamma-Fe2O3 NH electrodes which exhibited high energy density of 99.28 W h kg(-1) at a power density of 1599.85 W kg(-1), with excellent cycling stability of 89.3% after 5000 cycles. Our results demonstrated that the beta-Ni(OH)(2) HN gamma-Fe2O3 NH electrode material could serve as a potential candidate for energy storage applications.</P>

CeO2/Fe2O3 CNSs used as an efficient recyclable photocatalyst for degrading Eosin Yellow (EY) dye under visible light irradiation possess a high degradation rate of 98% after 25 min. The estimated electrical energy efficiency of CeO2/Fe2O3 CNSs shows the consumption of less energy (6.588 kW h m−3 per order) in degrading EY. Besides, the CeO2/Fe2O3 CNS exhibits a specific capacitance of 142.6 F g−1 at a scan rate of 5 mV s−1. Moreover, the composite displays an excellent capacitance retention of 94.8% after 1000 cycles. This newly designed CeO2/Fe2O3 CNS with enhanced visible light-driven photocatalytic activity and good supercapacitive cycling stability has great potential for use in wastewater treatment and energy storage applications.</P></▼2>

T.C. Sabari Girisun,S. Dhanuskodi,D. Mangalaraj,J. Phillip 한국물리학회 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.3
Bisthiourea zinc bromide (BTZB), a novel semi-organic NLO material, has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR absorption and electron diffraction techniques. Single crystals of BTZB with size in the range 5 × 4 × 3mm^3 have been grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. Thermal analysis has been performed on the material to study its thermal stability in the temperature range 303 K―1073 K. BTZB belongs to the category soft materials as evidenced by Vicker’s microhardness tests. The material has lower dielectric constant (14.1) than its parent molecule thiourea (15.6). From optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra, the band gap has been determined to be 3.5 eV. The nonlinear optical properties have been investigated by Z-scan method and the material is found to be selfdefocusing in nature. In this paper we report the optical limiting behavior in the low-power regime for the first time in literature using a 532 nm second harmonic of a diode pumped Nd: YAG laser.

<P>X-ray photoelectron spectra, X-ray diffraction patterns, scanning electron microscopy images, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy images showed that the as-prepared samples were Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) nanospheres with a kesterite phase. Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra for the CZTS nanospheres with an average crystallite size of 3.26 nm showed that the absorption edge corresponding to the energy gap shifted to the higher energy side due to the quantum confinement within the CZTS nanoparticles. Current-density measurements showed that the power conversion efficiency (0.952%) of the organic photovoltaic cells with CZTS nanospheres was much higher than that (0.120%) of the cells without CZTS nanospheres.</P>

Inhibition of key enzymes is a good strategy to effectively control diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HT) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Very restricted reports are available for the enzyme inhibitory property of Coccinia grandis (Cg) immature fruits. In the above background, the present study aims to explore the α-amylase, invertase, cholesterol esterase (CEase) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory properties of Cg. Two dimensional preparative thin layer chromatography (2D PTLC) coupled high resolution liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (HRLC–MS2) purified polyphenolic eluate was investigated for the enzyme inhibitory properties. Hot water extracts of Coccinia grandis (HWE-Cg) has showed strong inhibitory effect against α- amylase (97.17 ± 0.01%), invertase (97 ± 0.02%) and cholesterol esterase (83.6 ± 0.001%), and moderate activity against ACE (73.62 ± 0.001%) than organic solvent extracts (OSE-Cg). Microwave assisted process optimization has revealed a drastic reduction in time duration and material ratio, but no improvement in ACE inhibitory activity. Eight different polyphenols that includes hydroxyl ferulic acid (m/z 205), apigenin (m/z 277), isorhamnetin-O-sophoroside (m/z 640) and isoscutellarein-O-pentoside (m/z 415) were purified and predicted using 2D PTLC and HRLC-MS2 techniques, respectively. The eluate has established significant inhibitory effect against CEase (81.12 ± 0.10%) and amylase (62.28 ± 0.12%), than invertase (34.43 ± 0.11%) and ACE (20.12 ± 0.14%). Moreover, controlled drug release profile was recorded by HWE-Cg loaded calcium alginate beads and filled SS316L stainless steel bioimplant. Hence, Coccinia grandis can be used as traditional medicine to regulate DM, HT and CVDs.

<P>We report a cost-effective, facile chemical synthesis of gamma-manganese sulfide (MnS) nanoparticles (NPs) and investigated its structural, morphology and electrochemical properties. For the first time, we have attempted to exploit a novel highly flexible electrodes for supercapacitor application via depositing the synthesized MnS NPs on home-made graphite/scotch tape, as binder-free flexible conducting electrode which demonstrated a specific capacitance of 112 F g(-1) at a scan rate of 5 mV s(-1), with a cyclic stability of 93% after 2000 cycles. The results showed that the conducting flexible electrodes might be an ideal choice for cost-effective, next-generation high-performance supercapacitor application.</P>

Arul, N. Sabari,Cavalcante, L. S.,In Han, Jeong Springer-Verlag 2018 Journal of solid state electrochemistry Vol.22 No.1
<P>In this study, we have reported a facile fabrication of pristine zinc sulfide (ZnS), manganese sulfide (MnS), and ZnS/MnS nanocomposites (NCs) via cost-effective chemical precipitation method for electrochemical supercapacitor applications. The XRD, HR-TEM, and XPS analyses confirm the formation of ZnS/MnS NCs in the synthesized product. The electrochemical properties of ZnS/MnS NC electrode showed high specific capacitance of 884 F g(-1) at a scan rate of 2 mV s(-1). Besides, we have fabricated a symmetric supercapacitor using ZnS/MnS NCsCZnS/MnS NCs which exhibited a maximum energy density of 91 Wh kg(-1) at a power density of 7.78 kW kg(-1) with stable capacitance retention after 5000 cycles. Thus, the synergetic effect generated from the wurtzite-type hexagonal structure of ZnS/MnS leads to superior electron/ion transfer resulting in the enhanced electrochemical performance of the ZnS/MnS NCs which might be an ideal choice for cost-effective, high-performance supercapacitor applications.</P>

김은주,( Narayanasamy Sabari Arul ),한정인 한국공업화학회 2015 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2015 No.1
In this study, we adopt a co-precipitation method for the synthesis of one dimensional (1D) α-Fe2O3 nanorods at room temperature. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images confirms the presence of α-Fe2O3 nanorods. Magnetic hysteresis measurement reveals that the α-Fe2O3 nanorods displayed the ferromagnetic behavior with a remanence of 2.1 × 10-3 emug-1 and a coercivity of 45 Oe at room temperature. α-Fe2O3 nanorods modified glassy carbon (GC) electrodes were characterized with cyclic voltammetric electrochemical techniques. A significant enhancement in cathodic peak current (C1), detection limit and sensitivity was observed for α-Fe2O3 nanorods modified GC electrode with those of bare electrode.
