Kachnar (Bauhinia variegata) is distributed throughout the India and world. Its each part (flowers, stem, seed, root, bark, leaves) contains numerous phytochemicals like flavonoids, tannins, kaempferol, terpenoids, saponins, cardiac glycosides and quercetin which plays a vital role in promoting human health and hence this tree has gained popularity as a medicinal tree traditionally and being utilized for curing different diseases. Despite of its composition and various health benefits, its commercial utilization is still limited because of its availability at limited places for limited time; therefore the demand of the present era is to explore this plant for its utilization in food and pharmacy industry with scientific intervention. The present review brings into limelight the literature of the traditional uses, phytochemical properties and therapeutic aspects of this underutilized plant.
SINGLE WALLED-BORON NITRIDE NANOTUBES BASED NANORESONATOR FOR SENSING OF ACETONE MOLECULES

Sensor application for detection of acetone molecule(s) present in human breath is developed for cantilevered single walled-boron nitride nanotube (SW-BNNT) and analyzed in the present work. The same can be used for continuous monitoring of diabetes. Biocompatibility nature of BNNTs justify their use in biomedical applications. The possible use of the BNNT as nanomechanical resonators is explored in the present study. An atomistic three dimensional (3D) space frame model of ¯xed-free SW-BNNT-based nanoresonator is developed. The proposed model investigates the feasibility of SW-BNNT for sensing acetone molecules present in human breath for detecting diabetes. Dynamic analysis of ¯xed-free SW-BNNT for variable aspect ratios of nanotubes is carried out. Presence of acetone molecule(s) causes a shift in the resonant frequency of SW-BNNT. It is observed that this frequency shift is quite signi¯cant with presence of more acetone molecules and shows mass sensitivity of SW-BNNT toward acetone molecules. Continuum mechanics-based analytical approach has been used to validate the newly developed sensor equations as the results are found to be in close proximity. The result thus paves new path for the application of SW-BNNTs as biosensor for detection of acetone molecule(s) present in human breath.
Prevalence of Disaccharidase Deficiency in Adults With Unexplained Gastrointestinal Symptoms

Background/Aims Disaccharidase assay is used for assessing carbohydrate intolerance in children, but its usefulness in adults is not known. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of disaccharidase deficiency in patients with unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms. Methods A retrospective review of adults with chronic (> 1 year) abdominal symptoms and negative imaging and endoscopy/colonoscopy and who completed bowel symptom questionnaire and duodenal biopsy for lactase, maltase, sucrase, and palatinase was performed. A subset also underwent 25 g lactose breath test (LBT). Results One hundred twenty patients (females = 83) were evaluated, of whom 48 also underwent LBT. Fifty-six (46.7%) patients had enzyme deficiency; 44 (36.7%) had single (either lactase or maltase), 1 had 3 enzyme deficiencies, 11 (9.2 %) had all 4 disaccharidase enzyme (pan-disaccharidase) deficiency, and 64 (53.0%) had normal enzyme levels. Baseline prevalence and severity of 11 gastrointestinal symptoms were similar between normal and single enzyme deficiency groups. The sensitivity and specificity of LBT was 78.3% and 72.0%, respectively and overall agreement with lactase deficiency was 75.0%. Conclusions Isolated disaccharidase deficiency occurs in adults, usually lactase and rarely maltase, and pan-disaccharidase deficiency is rare. Baseline symptoms or its severity did not predict enzyme deficiency. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2020;26:384-390)
CHAOTIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF SINGLE-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBE DUE TO SURFACE DEVIATIONS

Nonlinear vibrational behavior of a single-walled carbon nanotube based mass sensors is considered. The modeling involves stretching of the mid plane and damping. The equation of motion involves two nonlinear terms due to the curved geometry and the stretching of the central plane due to the bridged boundary conditions. The manifestation of instability and chaos in the dynamic response is observed. The regions of periodic, sub-harmonic and chaotic behavior are clearly seen to be dependent on added mass and the surface deviations. Poincaré maps and frequency spectra are used to explicate and demonstrate the miscellany of the system behavior.

This paper presents the impact of couple stress lubricant on performance of slot-entry hydrostatic/hybrid journal symmetric/asymmetric bearings. Reynolds Equation using Finite Element Technique has been solved for the flow of couple stress and Newtonian lubricants in bearings. The results have been computed for concentric design pressure ratio(${\beta}^{\ast}=0.5$), slot width ratio (SWR = 0.25) and chosen parameters of couple stress lubricant ${\bar{l}}=5$, 10, 15. It is observed that numerically simulated outcomes for slot-entry journal bearings, considering the influence of couple stress lubricant indicate a substantial improvement in the performance of the bearing.
