Identification and expression profiling of five chemosensory protein genes in the whitefly MED, Bemisia tabaciIdentification and expression profiling of five chemosensory protein genes in the whitefly MED, Bemisia tabaci

        RanWang,Xiao-man Zhang,Hong-liang Li,Xiaojun Guo,Chen Luo 한국응용곤충학회 2016 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.19 No.1

Insect chemosensory proteins (CSPs) are small, water-soluble proteins involved in detection and recognition of chemical cues and semiochemicals. A better understanding of CSPs and their function could aid in the development of pest control strategies that are based on chemosensory regulation. We screened our unpublished transcriptome data of Bemisia tabaci and identified five CSP genes (BtabCSPs) including two novel BtabCSPs viz. BtabCSP4 and BtabCSP5. Phylogenetic analysis of amino acid sequences of the proteins encoded by these genes revealed that BtabCSPs are distinct fromCSPs of other hemipterans. Quantitative PCR analysis showed differential expression of these genes in different stages. In the adult stage, BtabCSP1, 2 and 4 had significantly higher expression than BtabCSP3 and 5 respectively. On the other hand, BtabCSP2 and 5 were relatively highly expressed in stage of pseudopupae compared to BtabCSP1, 3 and 4. In the third instar BtabCSP3, 4 and 5 exhibited higher expression compared to other CSP genes. Expression of all CSP genes was relatively low in the first and second instars compared to later developmental stages. The identification of novel BtabCSPs and the expression profiling of CSP genes in general may help facilitate development of pest management strategies based on disruption of CSPdriven behaviors.

      • Circular Formation Control of Car-like Robots with Local Position Measurements

        Ran Wang,Weiguo Xia,Xi-Ming Sun 제어로봇시스템학회 2018 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2018 No.10

This paper investigates the circular formation control problem of car-like robots with limited sensing range. A path following strategy is proposed to drive the robots to the target circle by controlling the steering velocity. The forward speed controller is designed using the relative position measurements of neighboring robots to guarantee collision avoidance, and finally makes the robots realize a desired spacing configuration. Simulations on enclosing a static target and a moving target with circular formation are both given to validate our results.

Characteristics and significance of heterogeneity of sea−land transitional facies shale gas reservoir in North Guizhou, China

        Ran Wang,Shuxun Sang,Jun Jin,Lingyun Zhao,Wei Gao,Wei Fu,Fulun Shi,Ende Deng 한국지질과학협의회 2019 Geosciences Journal Vol.23 No.1

In order to identify the characteristics of the longitudinal heterogeneity of the sea–land transitional facies shale gas reservoir in the upper Yangtze region of North Guizhou, studies on the lithological combination, rock and mineral composition, geochemical parameters and reservoir microanisotropy characteristics of Longtan Formation in the study area are conducted on the basis of core observation, testing of geochemistry and reservoir physical property and well logging interpretation. The studies show that the lithological assemblages of the Longtan Formation are diverse and form an amina interbedding of “sand-mud-coal” with obvious cyclicity characteristics. There is a large longitudinal difference in rock and mineral composition and the average mass fraction of the clay mineral is 39.83%, which is obviously higher than that of the marine shale in North America and South China; the longitudinal heterogeneity of the organic matter abundance is high, with an average of 2.17% in the upper part, and 4.51% in the lower part; in accordance with the results observed with the scanning electron microscope and results calculated through pore fractal, the microscopic pore heterogeneity of the reservoir is high. The comparison and analysis of connecting wells with different scales in the study area show that the control effect of the depositional environment on longitudinal macroscopic heterogeneity of Longtan Formation is obvious, and the longitudinal microscopic heterogeneity is controlled through diagenesis. Meanwhile, studies with main coal mining seam as the seam section division method conclude that the heterogeneity of Coal Seam Sections 4 to 5 and Coal Seam Sections 13 to 15 is significantly smaller than that in other seam sections, and the Coal Seam Sections 4 to 5 and Coal Seam Sections 13 to 15 can be considered as a priority key seam section during development of shale gas.

Multi-Dimensional CFD Analysis for the Prediction of Transient Wellbore Circulating Temperature Profile to Guide Offshore Cementing Job

        Ran Wang,Yanfang Wang,Mayank Tyagi,Yuanhang Chen,Seung Ihl Kam 한국자원공학회 2019 한국자원공학회지 Vol.56 No.4

This study investigates how temperature profile changes with time during fluid circulation through the wellbore and annulus by using ANSYS Fluent, to help designing offshore cementing job in the petroleum industry. The use of two-dimensional nature of transient computational-fluid-dynamics (CFD) simulations shows that both flow rheology and fluid distribution in the well affect heat transfer calculations and such an effect is more pronounced at the bottom hole where the flow direction changes from downward to upward. When compared with one-dimensional (1D) simulation, multi-dimensional simulation results predict a longer time for heat transfer consistently, implying that simple 1D simulation techniques tend to under-predict the amount of time associated with cementing job. How fluid distribution within the well changes with time and how the resulting pressure and temperature calculations are affected at different times and locations are also visualized in this study.

Thermo-optic Characteristics of Micro-structured Optical Fiber Infiltrated with Mixture Liquids

        Ran Wang,Yuye Wang,Yinping Miao,Ying Lu,Nannan Luan,Congjing Hao,Liangcheng Duan,Cai Yuan,Jianquan Yao 한국광학회 2013 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.17 No.3

We present both theoretically and experimentally the thermo-optic characteristics of micro-structured optical fiber (MOF) filled with mixed liquid. The performance of MOF depends on the efficient interaction between the fundamental mode of the transmitted light wave and the tunable thermo-optic materials in the cladding. The numerical simulation indicates that the confinement loss of MOF presents higher temperature dependence with higher air-filling ratios d/Λ, longer incident wavelength and fewer air holes in the cladding. For the 4cm liquid-filled grapefruit MOF, we demonstrate from experiments that different proportions of solutions lead to tunable temperature sensitive ranges. The insertion loss and the extinction ratio are 3~4 dB and approximate 20 dB, respectively. The proposed liquid-filling MOF will be developed as thermo-optic sensor, attenuator or optical switch with the advantages of simple structure, compact configuration and easy fabrication.

Molecular cloning, characterization and mRNA expression of a ryanodine receptor gene from whitefly, Bemisia tabaci MED

        Wei Zhang,Cheng Qu,ChangqingMu,Fengqi Li,Chen Luo,Jinda Wang,RanWang 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.1

The Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) cryptic species complex comprises very destructive insect pests for agricultural cropsworldwide. In China, the B. tabaciMED species (also known as biotype ‘Q’), has supplanted theMEAM1 species (biotype ‘B’) which is threatening agricultural production around the country. The new anthranilic diamide insecticide, cyantraniliprole, provides one novel step for themanagement of B. tabaci and the development of resistance to other insecticides. Ryanodine receptors of insect are the main target sites of the diamide insecticides. In this study, the full-length cDNA of a ryanodine receptor gene (BtRyR) was cloned and characterized from B. tabaci MED. The cDNAs of BtRyR contain a 15,369-bp open reading frame with encoding 5122 amino acids (GenBank ID: KY244091). BtRyR shares 76–83% identity with other insect RyR isoforms and 42–45% identity with vertebrate RyR isoforms. Spatial and temporal expression of BtRyR mRNA was at the highest relative level in pseudopupae and head, and at the lowest expression level in egg and abdomen. The expression levels of whole body BtRyR mRNAwere increased remarkably after insecticide-treatments of adults with cyantraniliprole at 0.01 to 1 mg/l. This structural and expression data on BtRyR provides the basis for further understanding the selective action of cyantraniliprole.

Lethal and sublethal effects of dinotefuran on two invasive whiteflies, Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

        Cheng Qu,Wei Zhang,Fengqi Li,Guillaume Tetreau,Chen Luo,RanWang 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.2

Two invasive whitefly cryptic species, Middle East-Asia Minor 1 (MEAM1) and Mediterranean (MED), are the most invasive and notorious pests on diverse crops and have significantly impacted agricultural production systems globally. This circumstance emphasizes the need for a better approach for controlling these species. In this study, the lethal effect of six insecticides and the sublethal effects of dinotefuran on B. tabaci MEAM1 and MED were examined. Among the six insecticides tested, dinotefuran was the most toxic to both B. tabaci MEAM1 andMED adults with LC50 values of 5.54 mg/L and 6.01mg/L, respectively. After treating adults of the two important specieswith LC25 of 1.70 mg/L (MEAM1) and 2.12 mg/L (MED), the transgenerational effects of dinotefuran on survival, developmental duration, and fecundity of F1 generation of B. tabaciMEAM1 andMEDadultswere observed respectively, which increased the developmental time and decreased survival rates of nymph, pseudopupa and adult. The fecundity of tested femaleswas also reduced markedly. In summary, these results indicate that dinotefuran could be one excellent candidate that may effectively control two invasive whitefly populations.
