<P>We study the extended colored Zee-Babu model introducing a vectorlike quark and singlet scalar. The active neutrino mass matrix and muon anomalous magnetic moment, which can be fitted to experimental data satisfying the constraints from the flavor-changing neutral current, are analyzed. Then, we discuss the constraint from h(SM) -> gamma gamma the implication of an exotic diphoton resonance as a signature of the model, and the stability of the scalar potential. In addition, we discuss the signature of our model via vectorlike quark production.</P>

Fabrication and Mechanical Properties of Porous Ti/HA Composites for Bone Fixation Devices

<P>Porous Ti (pTi)/hydroxylapatite (HA) composites were fabricated by an infiltration method in a vacuum and sintering. The Young’s modulus of the composites was evaluated before and after the immersion in Hanks’ solution. The strength of the composites was also evaluated by four-point bending test. The Young’s modulus of the compacts was governed by the porosity and was comparable to the human bone in the porosity range from 24 to 34%. The Young’s modulus of sintered pTi/HA composites was larger than that of pTi. The Young’s modulus of the sintered pTi/HA composites decreased after immersion in Hanks’ solution. The proof and bending strengths of the sintered pTi/HA composites were larger than those of pTi. Solid solution hardening of Ti by oxygen contributed the increase of the proof strength.</P>

<P>Ethylene/styrene copolymerizations using Cp′TiCl<SUB>2</SUB>(O-2,6-<SUP>i</SUP>Pr<SUB>2</SUB>C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>3</SUB>) [Cp′ = Cp* (C<SUB>5</SUB>Me<SUB>5</SUB>, 1), 1,2,4-Me<SUB>3</SUB>C<SUB>5</SUB>H<SUB>2</SUB> (2), tert-BuC<SUB>5</SUB>H<SUB>4</SUB> (3)]-MAO catalyst systems were explored under various conditions. Complexes 2 and 3 exhibited both high catalytic activities (activity: 504–6810 kg-polymer/mol-Ti h) and efficient styrene incorporations at 25, 40°C (ethylene 6 atm), affording relatively high molecular weight poly (ethylene-co-styrene)s with unimodal molecular weight distributions as well as with uniform styrene distributions (M<SUB>w</SUB> = 6.12–13.6 × 10<SUP>4</SUP>, M<SUB>w</SUB>/M<SUB>n</SUB> = 1.50–1.71, styrene 31.7–51.9 mol %). By-productions of syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS) were observed, when the copolymerizations by 1–3-MAO catalyst systems were performed at 55, 70 °C (ethylene 6 atm, SPS 9.0–68.9 wt %); the ratios of the copolymer/SPS were affected by the polymerization temperature, the [styrene]/[ethylene] feed molar ratios in the reaction mixture, and by both the cyclopentadienyl fragment (Cp′) and anionic ancillary donor ligand (L) in Cp′TiCl<SUB>2</SUB>(L) (L = Cl, O-2,6-<SUP>i</SUP>Pr<SUB>2</SUB>C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>3</SUB> or N=C<SUP>t</SUP>Bu<SUB>2</SUB>) employed. Co-presence of the catalytically-active species for both the copolymerization and the homopolymerization was thus suggested even in the presence of ethylene; the ratios were influenced by various factors (catalyst precursors, temperature, styrene/ethylene feed molar ratio, etc.). © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Neutrino mass with large SU(2)L multiplet fields

<P>We propose an extension of the standard model introducing large SU(2)(L) multiplet fields which are quartet and septet scalars and quintet Majorana fermions. These multiplets can induce the neutrino masses via interactions with the SU(2) doublet leptons. We then find the neutrino masses are suppressed by a small vacuum expectation value of the quartet/septet and an inverse of the quintet fermion mass, relaxing the Yukawa hierarchies among the standard model fermions. We also discuss collider physics at the Large Hadron Collider, considering the production of charged particles in these multiplets, and due to the effects of violating the custodial symmetry, some specific signatures can be found. Then, we discuss the detectability of these signals.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We propose a model of neutrino mass matrix with large S U ( 2 ) multiplets and gauged U <SUB> ( 1 ) <SUB> L μ </SUB> − <SUB> L τ </SUB> </SUB> symmetry, in which we introduce S U ( 2 ) quartet scalar and quintet fermions with nonzero <SUB> L μ </SUB> − <SUB> L τ </SUB> charge. Then we investigate the neutrino mass structure and explore phenomenologies of large multiplet fields at the collider, particularly, focusing on doubly- and singly- charged exotic leptons from the quintet.</P>
