FIXED POINT THEOREMS OF WEAKLY MONOTONE PREŠIĆ TYPE MAPPINGS IN ORDERED CONE METRIC SPACES

Khan, Mohammad Saeed,Shukla, Satish,Kang, Shin Min Korean Mathematical Society 2015 대한수학회보 Vol.52 No.3

In this paper, we introduce the weakly monotone $Pre{\check{s}}i{\acute{c}}$ type mappings in product spaces when the underlying space is an ordered cone metric space. Some fixed point results for such mappings are also proved which generalize and unify several known results in metric and cone metric spaces with normal cone. The results are supported by examples.

Anti-corrosive performance of epoxy coatings containing various nano-particles for splash zone applications

        Mohammad Asif Alam,Ubair Abdus Samad,Rawaiz Khan,Manawwer Alam,Saeed Mohammed Al-Zahrani 한국화학공학회 2017 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.34 No.8

Various formulations of epoxy nano-composites coating were developed by incorporating the nanoparticles (NPs) of ZnO, ZrO2, and SiO2 (2 wt%) in commercially available epoxy resin as the matrix phase. Direct incorporation method was used for the addition of NPs in epoxy matrix. High-speed mechanical stirring and ultra-sonication were carried out to facilitate the dispersion of NPs in the presence of acetone used as a solvent. Coating of neat epoxy and NPs (ZnO, ZrO2, SiO2) doped coating was applied on mild steel substrate for corrosion analysis. The effect of the incorporation of various NPs on anti-corrosive properties of the epoxy/nano-composite coatings was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. The experimental results showed an improvement in the anticorrosive properties for EZr coatings as compared with pristine and other nanocomposite coating samples.

Panoramic radiological study to identify locally displaced maxillary canines in Bangladeshi population

        Sheikh Mohammad Alif,Sejuty Haque,Naima Nimmi,Ali Ashraf,Saeed Hossain Khan,Mahfujul Haq Khan 대한영상치의학회 2011 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.41 No.4

Purpose : This study was performed to determine the prevalence of maxillary canine impaction on a basis of a single panoramic radiograph in Bangladeshi population. Materials and Methods : A random sample of seven hundred panoramic radiographs was collected from the patient record of a dental clinic. All the selected panoramic radiographs were taken from January 2009 to August 2010 by a single panoramic radiograph machine with the same exposure time (19 seconds) for all radiographs. One hundred and twenty panoramic radiographs were excluded to minimize the selection bias. In a dim lit room, an observer assessed the radiographs on a standard radiographic light box. The position of the impacted maxillary canine was recorded in line with the longitudinal axis of a tooth using the edge of a metal ruler. Data were subsequently put on SPSS 11.5 software and chi-square (χ^2) tests were applied to find out the association. Results : Among 580 panoramic radiographs it was found that impacted maxillary canines were present in only 7(1.2%) radiographs. A statistical significant difference was found between the age of the patients and the vertical position of the impacted canines (p=0.000) and between the age of the patients and the horizontal position of the impacted canines (p=0.003). Conclusion : The prevalence was found to be low compared with the present study from the limitation of panoramic image. Further study needs to include three-dimensional imaging modality.

Mitochondrial oxidative damage by co-exposure to bisphenol A and acetaminophen in rat testes and its amelioration by melatonin

        Andleeb Khan,Mohammad F. Alam,Tarique Anwer,Razan Ayoub,Rana J. H. Bahkali,Hina Rashid,Saeed Alshahrani,Marwa Qadri,Yousra Nomier,Maryam Sageer,Mohammad Suhail Akhter The Korean Society for Reproductive Medicine 2023 Clinical and Experimental Reproductive Medicine Vol.50 No.1

Objective: Human exposure to multiple xenobiotics, over various developmental windows, results in adverse health effects arising from these concomitant exposures. Humans are widely exposed to bisphenol A, and acetaminophen is the most commonly used over-the-counter drug worldwide. Bisphenol A is a well-recognized male reproductive toxicant, and increasing evidence suggests that acetaminophen is also detrimental to the male reproductive system. The recent recognition of male reproductive system dysfunction in conditions of suboptimal reproductive outcomes makes it crucial to investigate the contributions of toxicant exposures to infertility and sub-fertility. We aimed to identify toxicity in the male reproductive system at the mitochondrial level in response to co-exposure to bisphenol A and acetaminophen, and we investigated whether melatonin ameliorated this toxicity. Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into six groups (n=10 each): a control group and groups that received melatonin, bisphenol A, acetaminophen, bisphenol A and acetaminophen, and bisphenol A and acetaminophen with melatonin treatment. Results: Significantly higher lipid peroxidation was observed in the testicular mitochondria and sperm in the treatment groups than in the control group. Levels of glutathione and the activities of catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and manganese superoxide dismutase decreased significantly in response to the toxicant treatments. Likewise, the toxicant treatments significantly decreased the sperm count and motility, while significantly increasing sperm mortality. Melatonin mitigated the adverse effects of bisphenol A and acetaminophen. Conclusion: Co-exposure to bisphenol A and acetaminophen elevated oxidative stress in the testicular mitochondria, and this effect was alleviated by melatonin.

In-Vitro, Anti-Bacterial Activities of Aqueous Extracts of Acacia catechu (L.F.)Willd, Castanea sativa, Ephedra sinica stapf and shilajita mumiyo Against Gram Positive and Gram Negative Bacteria

        Mehrab Dashtdar,Mohammad Reza Dashtdar,Babak Dashtdar,Mohammad khabaz shirazi,Saeed Ahmad Khan 대한약침학회 2013 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.16 No.2

Objective: Evaluations of the in-vitro anti-bacterial activities of aqueous extracts of Acacia catechu (L.F.)Willd, Castanea sativa, Ephedra sinica stapf and Shilajita mumiyo against gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia) and gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) are reasonable since these ethnomedicinal plants have been used in Persian folk medicine for treating skin diseases, venereal diseases, respiratory problems and nervous disorders for ages. Methods: The well diffusion method (KB testing) with a concentration of 250 μg/disc was used for evaluating the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC). Maximum synergistic effects of different combinations of components were also observed. Results: A particular combination of Acacia catechu (L.F.) Willd, Castanea sativa, Ephedra sinica stapf and shilajita mumiyo extracts possesses an outstanding anti-bacterial activity. It's inhibiting effect on microorganisms is significant when compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Staphylococcus aureus was the most sensitive microorganism. The highest antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia) or gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) was exerted by formula number 2 (table 1). Conclusion: The results reveal the presence of antibacterial activities of Acacia catechu, Castanea sativa husk, Ephedra sp. and Mumiyo against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Synergistic effects in a combined formula, especially in formula number 2(ASLANⓇ) can lead to potential sources of new antiseptic agents for treatment of acute or chronic skin ulcers. These results considering the significant antibacterial effect of the present formulation, support ethnopharmacological uses against diarrheal and venereal diseases and demonstrate use of these plants to treat infectious diseases.

Predicting compressive strength of bended cement concrete with ANNs

Uneb Gazder,Omar Saeed Baghabara Al-Amoudi,Saad Muhammad Saad Khan,Mohammad Maslehuddin 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2017 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.20 No.6

Predicting the compressive strength of concrete is important to assess the load-carrying capacity of a structure. However, the use of blended cements to accrue the technical, economic and environmental benefits has increased the complexity of prediction models. Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) have been used for predicting the compressive strength of ordinary Portland cement concrete, i.e., concrete produced without the addition of supplementary cementing materials. In this study, models to predict the compressive strength of blended cement concrete prepared with a natural pozzolan were developed using regression models and single- and 2-phase learning ANNs. Back-propagation (BP), Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) and Conjugate Gradient Descent (CGD) methods were used for training the ANNs. A 2-phase learning algorithm is proposed for the first time in this study for predictive modeling of the compressive strength of blended cement concrete. The output of these predictive models indicates that the use of a 2-phase learning algorithm will provide better results than the linear regression model or the traditional single-phase ANN models.

Dashtdar, Mehrab,Dashtdar, Mohammad Reza,Dashtdar, Babak,Khan, Saeed Ahmad KOREAN PHARMACOPUNCTURE INSTITUTE 2013 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.16 No.4

Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine how an integrated approach to type 2 diabetes mellitus treatment could improve glycemic control and immune-potentiating activities adherent to oral hypoglycemic agents along with a botanical compound, among primary care patients. Methods: In this study, we used the self-control and the group-control methods. Candidates meeting the trial conditions were selected from among volunteers who had taken the test substance for 45 days. During the trial, all groups were on a controlled diet; neither were the original medications nor their dosages changed. Results: The results showed that the botanical compound (Glyco-Persica$^{(R)}$) significantly reduced the main clinical symptoms in diabetes type 2. In the treatment group, 36 of 52 patients (69.23%) and in the control group 10 of 52 patients (19.23%) showed reduced symptoms, and this difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The fasting blood sugar in the treatment group after treatment compared with that before treatment and with that in the control group after treatment was statistically different (P < 0.05). The post-prandial glucose in the treatment group after treatment was significantly different from that before treatment and from that in the control group after treatment (P < 0.05); the post-prandial blood sugar in the treatment group was reduced by 8.98%. Conclusions: The results revealed that the botanical compound (Glyco-Persica$^{(R)}$) has significant hypoglycemic properties which affect main clinical symptoms in diabetes type 2. Body weight, blood pressure, heart rate, routine blood, stool and urine tests showed no meaningful negative changes after the course of treatment. There was no significant adverse reaction during the trial.
