The Testing of Oral Interaction : A Research Perspective

Milanovic, Michael 서울대학교 어학연구소 1994 語學硏究 Vol.30 No.3

This paper reviews some of the research that has taken place in relation to the validation of tests of speaking. It considers four facets in some detail. These are the candidate, the examiner, the rating scales and the language elicited. A number of research projects are reviewed in the paper. Work in progress by Cambridge and UCLA is focusing on the characteristics of the test taker with a view to investigating relationships between these and test performance and content. The language of the candidate is considered from a discourse perspective based on work by Young and Milanovic (1992). Lazaraton's work on examiner language (1993) in relation to CASE is considered and the development and analysis of rating scales is examined by Milanovic et al.(1992).

Teaching Magnetic Component Design in Power Electronics Course using Project Based Learning Approach

Hren, Alenka,Milanovic, Miro,Mihalic, Franc The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2012 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.12 No.1

This paper presents the results and gained experiences from the Project Based Learning (PBL) of magnetic component design within a Power Electronics Course. PBL was applied during the laboratory exercises through a design-project task based on a boost converter test board. The students were asked to calculate the main boost converter's circuit parameters' capacitor C and inductor L, and then additionally required to design and build-up the inductor L, in order to meet the project's goals. The whole PBL process relied on ideas from the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate), where the students are encouraged to consider the whole system's process, in order to obtain hands-on experience. PBL is known to be a motivating and problem-centered teaching method that gives students the ability to transfer their acquired scientific knowledge into industrial practice. It has the potential to help students cope with demanding complexities in the field, and those problems they will face in their future careers.

A closed cycle of sustainable development: Effective removal and desorption of lead and dyes using an oxidized cellulose membrane

        Nataša Knezevic,Jovana Milanovic,Zlate Velickovic,Milena Miloševic,Marija M. Vuksanovic,Antonije Onjia,Aleksandar Marinkovic 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.126 No.-

Oxidized cotton linters, TOCell, were used as an adsorbent or derived membrane there from by linterscross-linking with citric acid. The adsorption/desorption study of Pb2+, methylene blue (MB), and crystalviolet (CV) removal, was performed. Adsorption data fitting, obtained using the Langmuir model, gave116 mg g1 (Pb2+), 179 mg g1 (MB) and 482 mg g1 (CV) at 25 ℃ for TOCell linters, while 101 mg g1(Pb2+), 165 mg g1 (MB) and 426 mg g1 (CV) for TOCell membrane. After desorption dyes were subjectedto photocatalytic degradation while lead was transformed into stable lead phthalate (LP), and furtherused as filler in composites based on unsaturated polyester resins (UPR). UPR was synthesized fromwaste polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Structural characterization was performed using FTIR, SEM,and NMR methods. Composites loaded with acryloyl modified kraft lignin (A-KfL) and/or LP was testedfor tensile strength, Vickers microhardness, and fire resistance (UL-94 V method). The best mechanicaland fireproofing properties were obtained at 15 wt.% A-KfL and 40 wt.% Al(OH)3 addition. The resultsof the toxicity leaching test (TCLP) confirmed the environmentally safe stabilization of desorbed pollutantin the UPR matrix. Application of environmentally friendly membranes, susceptible to easy biodegradation, had low negative effects to the environment.

Assessment of Reference Evapotranspiration by Regionally Calibrated Temperature-Based Equations

        Slavisa Trajkovic,Milan Gocic,Rita Pongracz,Judit Bartholy,Mladen Milanovic 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.3

The Penman-Monteith (PM) method for estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ET0) uses numerous data that are often missing in many regions. In such circumstances, temperature-based equations can be used for estimating ET0. The primary objective of this note was to compare the calibrated temperature-based ET0 approaches with the standard PM equation using meteorological data from fifteen CLIMWAT stations located in the Pannonian Basin. The most of these locations are classified as humid. Twelve temperature-based equations were evaluated according to the PM method. The regionally calibrated Hargreaves equation (HT) gave the lowest RMSE at seven sites and the second lowest RMSE at three sites. New regionally calibrated Thornthwaite approach (TT) yielded the lowest RMSE three times and the second lowest RMSE seven times. These approaches resulted in the lowest average RMSE for all fifteen locations (0.28 and 0.30 mm day−1, respectively). The other temperature-based approaches significantly fall behind the HT and TT equations at most stations. The overall results show the advantage of the HT approach except for a few southeast stations where the TT approach is dominant. It can be concluded that the regionally calibrated temperature-based approaches (HT and TT) are the most suitable to estimate ET0 in the Pannonian Basin.
