An Iterative Method for Equilibrium and Constrained Convex Minimization Problems

We are concerned with finding a common solution to an equilibrium problem associated with a bifunction, and a constrained convex minimization problem. We propose an iterative fixed point algorithm and prove that the algorithm generates a sequence strongly convergent to a common solution. The common solution is identified as the unique solution of a certain variational inequality.
Histological evaluation of the effect of VEGF on auto-transplanted mouse ovaries

One of the most important factors affecting survival rate of ovarian follicles during transplantation period is proper vascular development. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on auto-transplanted ovarian tissue. Twenty-one-dayold female mice (n = 30) transplanted as control group and 21-day-old female mice (n = 40) were divided into 4 groups that were treated with 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 μg/mL of VEGF directly injected to auto-transplanted ovarian tissue. Twenty-one days after transplantation, mice were treated with 7.5 IU pregnant mare serum gonadotropin and human chorionic gonadotropin. Transplanted ovaries were removed and sections were prepared from transplanted tissues for staining. The most effective dosage of VEGF on transplanted tissue was determined over H&E (hematoxylin and eosin) staining results. Slides were compared using TUNEL staining and CD31 assay for the most effective dosage. The percentages of preantral and antral follicles were not significantly different between transplanted group with 4 μg/mL VEGF and non-transplanted group. Lower apoptotic areas and higher CD31 expression were observed in transplanted ovaries treated with 4 μg/mL VEGF when compared to transplanted ovaries without VEGF treatment. VEGF positively affects the quality of ovarian tissue during transplantation. Survival rate of follicles and follicular development has improved with the effect of VEGF.
Restless Leg Syndrome in Hospitalized Psychiatric Patients in Mashhad

Background and Objective Sleep disorders, especially restless leg syndrome (RLS), have in recent years been recognized as common problems that increase the risk of mental disorders, anxiety, and depression, and lead to decreased quality of life and social isolation. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the frequency of RSL in psychiatric patients admitted to Ibn Sina Hospital, Mashhad, Iran during 2020–2021.Methods Eligible individuals were selected using available sampling, and after determining the type of psychiatric disorder, the demographic and medical information of patients were recorded. The RLS assessment questionnaire was used to evaluate the purpose of the study.Results Of the 150 hospitalized patients with psychiatric disorders, 67 (44.7%) were male, and the mean age of the subjects was 34.63 ± 10.80 years. RLS was not observed in 100 patients (66.7%); however, mild RLS was shown in 33 patients (22%), while severe type was shown in 17 patients (11.3%). The prevalence of major depressive disorder and lithium consumption was significantly higher in people with RLS than in those without the syndrome (p = 0.047 and p = 0.012, respectively).Conclusions These results indicate that there is a relationship between the prevalence of RLS and some psychological disorders and medications that are commonly used in this field. Managing the symptoms of this syndrome by better understanding its predisposing factors can lead to better management of patients.
Coefficient Bounds for a Subclass of Harmonic Mappings Convex in One Direction

In this paper, we investigate harmonic univalent functions convex in the direction 𝜃, for 𝜃 ∈ [0, 𝜋). We find bounds for |f<sub>z</sub>(z)|, ${\mid}f_{\bar{z}}(z){\mid}$ and |f(z)|, as well as coefficient bounds on the series expansion of functions convex in a given direction.

Background: Propolis based preparations have a wide range of applications in various specialties of dentistry. The aim of this clinical trial was to test the efficacy of propolis as a mouthwash in the reduction of chemotherapy induced oral mucositis (OM) in a single center. Materials and Methods: In this randomised, controlled study patients undergoing chemotherapy were included consecutively and randomised to an experimental group receiving propolis mouthwash (n = 20) and a control group receiving diluted water (n=20). Oral mucositis, erythema and eating and drink ability were assessed at baseline and after 3 and 7 days using the World Health Organization (WHO) scale and the oral mucositis assessment scale (OMAS). Results: There were significant differences in OM, wound and erythema in propolis group compared to placebo, but no significant difference in eating and drink ability. However, it was interesting that 65% of the patients in the propolis group were completely healed at day 7 of the trial. No significant adverse events were reported by the patients. Conclusions: This study found that oral care with propolis as mouthwash for patients undergoing chemotherapy is an effective intervention to improve oral health. Our findings shouldlencourage health practitioners to apply propolis mouth rinse for the oral care of patients under chemotherapy.

Background With the emergence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and inability of healthcare systems to control the disease, various therapeutic theories with controversial responses have been proposed. Plasmapheresis was administered as a medication. However, the knowledge of its efficacy and indications is inadequate. This study evaluated the use of plasmapheresis in critically ill patients with cancer. Methods This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 86 patients with malignancies, including a control group (N=41) and an intervention group (N=45) with severe COVID-19 during 2020-21. Both groups were treated with routine medications for COVID-19 management according to national guidelines, and plasmapheresis was applied to the intervention group. C-reactive protein (CRP), D-dimer, ferritin, lactate dehydrogenase, hemoglobin, and white blood cell, polymorphonuclear, lymphocyte, and platelet levels were measured at admission and at the end of plasmapheresis. Other variables included neutrophil recovery, intensive care unit admission, intubation requirements, length of hospital stay, and hospitalization outcomes. Results CRP (P <0.001), D-dimer (P <0.001), ferritin (P =0.039), and hemoglobin (P =0.006) levels were significantly different between the groups after the intervention. Neutrophil recovery was remarkably higher in the case than in the control group (P <0.001). However, plasmapheresis did not affect the length of hospital stay (P=0.076), which could have significantly increased survival rates (P <0.001). Conclusion Based on the study findings, plasmapheresis led to a significant improvement in laboratory markers and survival rate in patients with severe COVID-19. These findings reinforce the value of plasmapheresis in cancer patients as a critical population suffering from neutropenia and insufficient immune responses.
