This report falls into four main sections. The first analyzes the port cooperation based from the point view of shipping network in Korea, Japan and China. The second introduces the port development strategy in Korea (Gwangyan port), Japan (Hibikinada port) and China (Yangshan Project). The third explicates competition among port of Gwangyang, Hibikinada and Shanghai, while the final section concludes by discussing the role of main ports in Korea, Japan and China from the point of view of hub and spoke network.

최근 몇 년 동안 전 세계적으로 환경이슈에 관한 관심이 증대되었다. 일본 또한 예 외는 아니다. 일본정부는 근래에 교토의정서 합의 후, 환경 친화적 가전제품, 연료효율자동차, 태 양력발전, 풍력발전, 탈황화 등 환경 친화적 사업을 고무적으로 발전시켜 오고 있다. 본 논문은 친환경자동차와 에너지효율 가전기구의 부상, 광전지와 풍력 비즈니스, 정부주도의 환경비즈니스 촉진 그리고 재활용비즈니스를 다룬다. 본 연구의 목적은 최근 이슈화되고 있는 친환경자동차와 연료효율가전제품, 정부 주도적 환경 사업 추진, 일본의 재활용 사업 등에 관한 배경적 요소를 알아보고, 전 세계적으로 환경보존을 위한 국제적 협력의 중요성에 대해서도 제안하는 것이다. During the recent years, there exists a great concern about the environmental issue globally. Japan is without the exception either. Japanese government for some years, with a view to keeping its promises as jointly agreed in the Kyoto Protocol, has been positively developing the environment-friendly appliances, like fuel-efficient car, solar power generation, wind power generation, desulfurization equipments and etc. This paper deals with the rise of eco car and energy-efficient home appliances, the development of photovoltaic and wind power business, and government-led environment business promotion and the rise of recycling business. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to provide with the information pertaining to background factors regarding the rise of eco car and energy-efficient home appliance, government-led environment business promotion, recycling business in Japan as well as the importance of international cooperation for an environmental sustainability globally.

In 2007, the Ministry of Transport in Taiwan promulgated the short, middle and long term port development of Taipei port. The background for the new port development is because of the future development of Port of Keelung which is constrained by its geographic location being surrounded by mountains from east, west and south generating the shallow hinterland access which hinters its further development. For this, most of the world renowned shipping carriers have been calling port of Kaohsiunginstead of port of Keelung. However, it has always been a cost burden and time consuming for those shipping companies calling at port of Kaohsiung then transporting those imported cargoes destined to northern Taiwan. On the other hand, Taiwan government foresees the high possibility of direct sailing between Taiwan and China in the near future which will see the ever increased export and import cargoes when it becomes materialized, Under the circumstance, the development of Taipei port as the auxiliary port of Keelung has come into being. Port of Taipei, 50 miles from the west side of port of Keelung, is well blessed for its geographic advantage situating at the main point of the trunk lane between Asia and North America as well as Asia and Europe, in addition, the hinterland access is provided for its easy and short access to Taoyung international airport (30km from port of Taipei). From the point view of international multimodal transportation, port of Taipei, as the main hub will be playing a crucial role in East Asia in the near future.
