<P>We have demonstrated an ultra-fast switching and efficient polymer stabilized blue phase liquid crystal (PS-BPLC) diffraction grating utilizing a chiral monomer. We have obtained a 0.5 ms response time by a novel polymer stabilization method which is three times faster than conventional PS-BPLC. In addition, the diffraction efficiency was improved 2% with a much wider phase range and the driving voltage to switch the device is reduced. The polarization properties of the diffracted beam are unaffected by this novel polymer stabilization. This device can be useful for future photonic applications.</P>

An Engine Reference and Marker Signal Generator is developed to easily obtain the Engine Reference Signals by user commands without running the engine. The functions of the Engine Reference and Marker Signal Generator mainly consists of two parts: Generation of Engine Reference Signals(1ppc, 1ppr, 360ppr/720ppr) and that of Marker Signals(Marker1, Marker2) Engine Reference Signals can be used as base input signals for testing engine controllers. engine development systems and so forth. In addition, Marker Signals can be used to verify the timing of engine control signals such as ignition and injection signals. They may also be used as trigger signals for other test equipment.
HF를 장착한 차량 구동계의 비틀림 진동 해석에 관한 연구

Torque fluctuation of engine generate gear rattle noise of transmission and many researches have been studied to decrease rattle noise by adjusting SMF with clutch damper system. Optimization of stiffness and inertia at clutch system can't decrease perfectly rattle noise problem because natural frequency of driveline with SMF exist in driving range. So, we need to develop new damper, HF that improve damping performance by increasing inertia and decreasing stiffness. In this paper, we established torsion model about powertrain system including HF and we predict torsion vibration behavior on the idle, drive and engine start mode through performing simulation. Also, we measure torsion vibration through vehicle vibration test and validate simulation model by comparing vehicle test data. We proposed improvement action of rattle noise as studying vibration parameters of HF.
Nuclear Effectors in Plant Pathogenic Fungi

The nuclear import of proteins is a fundamental process in the eukaryotes including plant. It has become evident that such basic process is exploited by nuclear effectors that contain nuclear localization signal (NLS) and are secreted into host cells by fungal pathogens of plants. However, only a handful of nuclear effectors have been known and characterized to date. Here, we first summarize the types of NLSs and prediction tools available, and then delineate examples of fungal nuclear effectors and their roles in pathogenesis. Based on the knowledge on NLSs and what has been gleaned from the known nuclear effectors, we point out the gaps in our understanding of fungal nuclear effectors that need to be filled in the future researches.
A Novel Image Thresholding for Infrared Thermal Image Segmentation

Image thresholding is one of the popular approaches for image segmentation. Traditional thresholding methods face challenges in finding the optimal threshold value for infrared thermal image thresholding. In this paper, we propose a new approach to find the optimal threshold value for infrared thermal image segmentation. Creating a criterion function model using the one-dimensional histogram information of the image to get the possible object and background region separations in the image is the primary objective of the proposed method. For that, a cumulative probability distribution dependent iterative model is developed. Thereafter, a mathematical model based on sine function is utilized to extract an optimal threshold value for two-level infrared thermal image segmentation. We have experimented with our method on several infrared thermal images collected from standard image databases to describe the performance, and they are compared to the state-of-the-art methods to interpret the ability of the proposed method. 이미지 임계방법은 이미지 분리에 사용되는 가장 단순하면서도 널리 사용되는 방법이다. 그러나 전통적인 이미지 임계방법은 적외선 열 이미지에 대해서는 낮은 정확도를 가진다. 이 논문에서 우리는 적외선 열 이미지에 대한 최적의 임계값을 찾는 새로운 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 이 문제는 주어진 이미지의 회색조 히스토그램에서 기준 함수를 구하고 그로부터 이미지의 물체와 배경을 분리하는 것을 목적으로 가진다. 이를 위해 우리는 누적확률분포 기반의 반복적인 이미지 임계방법이 제안한다. 제안 방법에서는 사인 함수에 기반한 수학적인 모델이 최적의 임계값을 추출하는데 사용된다. 제안방법은 많은 수의 적외선 열 이미지 분리에 적용되고 최신 연구들의 결과들과 비교, 평가된다.
