      • Controlling a Team of Mobile Robots via Cloud Computing

        Hisham Khalifa,Mahmoud Badawy,Hesham Arafat,Deok-Jin Lee 대한기계학회 2021 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2021 No.5

Mobile robots require real-time performance and a shared computing environment. Although cloud computing offers high computation power, it may adversely affect real-time performance owing to network lag. The main objective of this study is to allow a mobile robot vision system to achieve real-time constraint using cloud computing reliably. A human cloud mobile robot architecture is proposed, and a data flow mechanism is organized on both the mobile robot and the cloud server sides. Two algorithms are proposed: (i) A real-time image clustering algorithm applied on the mobile robot side, and (ii) A modified growing neural gas algorithm applied on the cloud server-side. The experimental results demonstrate a 25% to 45% enhancement in the total response time, depending on the communication bandwidth and image resolution. Moreover, better performance in terms of data size, path planning time, and accuracy is demonstrated over other state-of-the-art techniques.

      • A Client-Side App Model for Classifying and Storing Documents

Elhussein, Bahaeldein,Karrar, Abdelrahman Elsharif,Khalifa, Mahmoud,Alsharani, Mohammed Mujib International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.5

Due to the large number of documents that are important to people and many of their requests from time to time to perform an essential official procedure, this requires a practical arrangement and organization for them. When necessary, many people struggle with effectively arranging official documents that enable display, which takes a lot of time and effort. Also, no mobile apps specialize in professionally preserving essential electronic records and displaying them when needed. Dataset consisting of 10,841 rows and 13 columns was analyzed using Anaconda, Python, and Mito Data Science new tool obtained from Google Play. The research was conducted using the quantitative descriptive approach. The presented solution is a model specialized in saving essential documents, categorizing according to the user's desire, and displaying them when needed. It is possible to send in an image or a pdf file. Aside from identifying file kinds like PDFs and pictures, the model also looks for and verifies specific file extensions. The file extension and its properties are checked before sharing or saving it by applying the similarity algorithm (Levenshtein). Our method effectively and efficiently facilitated the search process, saving the user time and effort. In conclusion, such an application is not available, which facilitates the process of classifying documents effectively and displaying them quickly and easily for people for printing or sending to some official procedures, and it is considered one of the applications that greatly help in preserving time, effort, and money for people.

Evaluation of the role of ischemia modified albumin in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

Talat, Mohamed A.,Saleh, Rabab M.,Shehab, Mohammed M.,Khalifa, Naglaa A.,Sakr, Maha Mahmoud Hamed,Elmesalamy, Walaa M. The Korean Pediatric Society 2020 Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics (CEP) Vol.63 No.8

Background: Birth asphyxia is a leading cause of neonatal mortality. Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels may have a predictive role in the identification and prevention of hypoxic disorders, as they increase in cases of ischemia of the liver, heart, brain, bowel, and kidney. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the value of IMA levels as a diagnostic marker for neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Methods: Sixty newborns who fulfilled 3 or more of the clinical and biochemical criteria and developed HIE as defined by Levene staging were included in our study as the asphyxia group. Neonates with congenital malformation, systemic infection, intrauterine growth retardation, low-birth weight, cardiac or hemolytic disease, family history of neurological diseases, congenital or perinatal infections, preeclampsia, diabetes, and renal diseases were excluded from the study. Sixty healthy neonates matched for gestational age and with no maternal history of illness, established respiration at birth, and an Apgar score ≥7 at 1 and 5 minutes were included as the control group. IMA was determined by double-antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of a cord blood sample collected within 30 minutes after birth. Results: Cord blood IMA levels were higher in asphyxiated newborns than in controls (250.83±36.07 pmol/mL vs. 120.24±38.9 pmol/mL). Comparison of IMA levels by HIE stage revealed a highly significant difference among them (207.3±26.65, 259.28±11.68, 294.99±4.41 pmol/mL for mild, moderate, and severe, respectively). At a cutoff of 197.6 pmol/mL, the sensitivity was 84.5%, specificity was 86%, positive predictive value was 82.8%, negative predictive value was 88.3%, and area under the curve was 0.963 (P<0.001). Conclusion: IMA levels can be a reliable marker for the early diagnosis of neonatal HIE and can be a predictor of injury severity.

Anti-cancer Effect of Hyoscyamus muticus Extract via Its Activation of Fas/FasL-ASK1-p38 Pathway

        Amer Ali Abd El-Hafeez,Hala Mohamed M. Marzouk,Mohamed A. A. Abdelhamid,Hazim O. Khalifa,Tamer H. A. Hasanin,Ahmed G. K. Habib,Fatma Mahmoud Abdelwahed,Fatma M. Barakat,Eslam M. Bastawy,Eman M. B. Abd 한국생물공학회 2022 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.27 No.5

Hyoscyamus muticus L. is a traditional medicine used as antispasmodic and sedative. Herein, we aimed to determine the phytochemical constituents and for the first time its anti-cancer activities. The phytochemical constituents of the different extracts were evaluated by calorimetric methods. The anti-cancer activities of the extracts were tested against leukemia, breast, renal, and prostate cancers cell lines. 4, 6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining, flow cytometric analysis, knockdown of ASK1, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were evaluated to clarify the mechanism of action. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of wide range of phytoconstituents. Hyoscyamus muticus methanolic extracts (HMME) showed the highest anti-cancer activities against leukemia, breast, renal, and prostate cancers as compared to ethanol and aqueous extracts. Specifically, HMME exerted cytotoxic effect against the MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468 triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cell lines with IC50 values of 8.75 and 7.25 μg/mL, respectively. Mechanistically, DAPI staining and flow cytometric analysis revealed that HMME induces apoptosis via the death receptor, FAS, but not the mitochondrial pathway. Moreover, ASK1 and p38 were rapidly activated in response to HMME, and knockdown of ASK1 by a small interference of RNA specific to Ask1 attenuated p38 and caspase-3 activation and suppressed apoptosis, implying that HMME-induced apoptosis relies on the ASK1-p38-caspase-3 pathway. Furthermore, we confirmed that cellular ROS generation was a critical mediator in HMME-induced apoptosis because the ROSscavenger N-acetyl cysteine significantly decreased the phosphorylation of ASK1 and HMME-induced apoptosis. Our results confirmed HMME cytotoxic effects in TNBCs via ROS-dependent activation of the Fas/FasL-ASK1-p38 axis.
