Over Networks H∞ Filtering for Discrete Singular Jump Systems with Interval Time-varying Delay

This paper deals with the robust H∞ filtering for discrete singular systems with jump parameters and interval time-varying delay, whose system mode is transmitted through an unreliable network. The class of systems under consideration is more general and covers the singular jump systems with mode-dependent and mode-independent as two special cases, over networks a novel delay-dependent and partially mode-dependent filter is established via using a mode-dependent Lyapunov function and a finite sum inequality based on quadratic terms. The corresponding filter parameters can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities without decomposing the original system matrix. The proposed linear robust filter ensuring that the filtering error singular jump system is to be regular, causal, stochastically stable and satisfies H∞ performance. In addition, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Erdheim-Chester Disease with Emperipolesis: A Unique Case Involving the Heart

Histiocytosis is an uncommon disease characterized by excessive accumulation of histiocytes. Here, we report a rare case of non-Langerhans-cell histiocytosis in a 51- year-old woman who presented with severe symptoms of pericardial effusion. Radiologic investigation also detected multiple bone (lower limbs, vertebrae, ribs, and ilium) lesions. Resected pericardium showed abundant mono- or multi-nucleated non-foamy histiocytes (CD68+/CD163+/S-100+/CD1/langerin) in a fibroinflammatory background. The histiocytes demonstrated emperipolesis of lymphocytes, a hallmark feature of Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD). However, molecular analysis revealed a BRAF V600E mutation of the proliferating histiocytes, highlighting the neoplastic features frequently observed in another non-Langerhans-cell histiocytosis known as Erdheim- Chester Disease (ECD). We consider this case to be a unique presentation of ECD harboring some RDD-like cells with emperipolesis, but not a case of RDD with a BRAF mutation concerning its clinical manifestation (involvement of the heart and bones) and neoplastic features.

New Results on Stability Analysis of Markovian Switching Singular Systems

<P>This paper addresses the stability problem for linear continuous-time Markovian switching singular systems. Considering the inherent state jump behavior at the switching instants, a necessary and sufficient condition of exponential stability in the mean square sense for the Markovian switching singular system is established in terms of linear matrix inequalities by means of a stochastic Lyapunov approach. Based on the obtained stability result, sufficient conditions of exponential stability in the mean square sense for the Markovian switching singular system with uncertain and partly unknown transition probability are presented. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.</P>

D-(+)-glucose (Glc) was added to the original Fricke polyvinyl alcoholeglutaraldehydeexylenol orange (FPGX) hydrogel dosimeter system to make a more stable FPGX hydrogelthree-dimensional dosimeter in this paper. Polyvinyl alcohol was used as a substrate,which was combined with Fricke solution. Various concentrations of Glc were tested withlinear relevant fitting for optimal hydrogel production conditions. The effects of variousformulations on the stability and sensitivity of dosimeters were evaluated. The resultsindicated that D-(+)-Glc, as a free radical scavenger, had a great effect on stabilizing thedose response related to absorbency and reducing the auto-oxidization of ferrous ions. Acareful doping with Glc could slow down the color change of the dosimeter before and afterradiation without any effect on the sensitivity of the dosimeter.

Alterations of oral microbiota in Chinese children with viral encephalitis and/or viral meningitis

The role of oral microbiota in viral encephalitis and/or viral meningitis (VEVM) remains unclear. In this hospital-based, frequency-matched study, children with clinically diagnosed VEVM (n = 68) and those with other diseases (controls, n = 68) were recruited. Their oral swab samples were collected and the oral microbiota was profiled using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The oral microbiota of children with VEVM exhibited different beta diversity metrics (unweighted UniFrac distance: P < 0.001, R2 = 0.025, Bray-curtis dissimilarity: P = 0.045, R2 = 0.011, and Jaccard dissimilarity: P < 0.001, R2 = 0.017) and higher relative abundances of taxa identified by Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) with effect size (Enterococcus, Pedobacter, Massilia, Prevotella_9, Psychrobacter, Butyricimonas, Bradyrhizobium, etc., LDA scores > 2.0) when compared with the control group. The higher pathway abundance of steroid hormone biosynthesis predicted by oral microbiota was suggested to be linked to VEVM (q = 0.020). Further, a model based on oral microbial traits showed good predictive performance for VEVM with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.920 (95% confidence interval: 0.834–1.000). Similar results were also obtained between children with etiologically diagnosed VEVM (n = 43) and controls (n = 68). Our preliminary study identified VEVM-specific oral microbial traits among children, which can be effective in the diagnosis of VEVM.
