        ELECTRONIC STRUCTURES AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF SINGLE CRYSTALLINE GaN NANOTUBES

        The electronic structures and transport properties of single crystalline GaN nanotubes with 0.92nm inner diameter and di®erent wall thicknesses of 0.08 nm, 0.26 nm and 0.54 nm are studied based on the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) of density functional theory (DFT) and the nonequilibrium green's function (NEGF). The research shows that (1) the three single crystalline GaN nanotubes have direct band gaps, decreasing with the increase of wall thickness;(2) the electronic density of state and electronic transmission spectra of two-probe system have their own pulse-type sharp peaks with almost the same location of electron energy; (3) under di®erent bias-voltages, two-probe systems of the single crystalline GaN nanotubes have the I?V properties which reveal that the single-wall GaN nanotube and the single-layer GaN nanotube are semiconducting and the double-layer GaN nanotube appears nearly metallic.

      • The Prediction of Code Clone Quality Based on Bayesian Network

        This paper researched on the quality of code clone in the software, evaluated the code clone quality of the current versions. Then using Bayesian network to train the existing sample data to get the prediction model of code clone that is able to predict the quality. The prediction results are able to help developers decide which code clone should be reconstructed or efficiently reused. The experiment shows that the method can be used to predict the quality of code clone in software more accurately.

        The putative polysaccharide synthase AfCps1 regulates Aspergillus fumigatus morphogenesis and conidia immune response in mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages

        Aspergillus fumigatus is a well-known opportunistic pathogen that causes invasive aspergillosis (IA) infections with high mortality in immunosuppressed individuals. Morphogenesis, including hyphal growth, conidiation, and cell wall biosynthesis is crucial in A. fumigatus pathogenesis. Based on a previous random insertional mutagenesis library, we identified the putative polysaccharide synthase gene Afcps1 and its paralog Afcps2. Homologs of the cps gene are commonly found in the genomes of most fungal and some bacterial pathogens. Afcps1/cpsA is important in sporulation, cell wall composition, and virulence. However, the precise regulation patterns of cell wall integrity by Afcps1/cpsA and further effects on the immune response are poorly understood. Specifically, our in-depth study revealed that Afcps1 affects cell-wall stability, showing an increased resistance of ΔAfcps1 to the chitinmicrofibril destabilizing compound calcofluor white (CFW) and susceptibility of ΔAfcps1 to the β-(1,3)-glucan synthase inhibitor echinocandin caspofungin (CS). Additionally, deletion of Afcps2 had a normal sporulation phenotype but caused hypersensitivity to Na+ stress, CFW, and Congo red (CR). Specifically, quantitative analysis of cell wall composition using high-performance anion exchange chromatography- pulsed amperometric detector (HPAEC-PAD) analysis revealed that depletion of Afcps1 reduced cell wall glucan and chitin contents, which was consistent with the downregulation of expression of the corresponding biosynthesis genes. Moreover, an elevated immune response stimulated by conidia of the ΔAfcps1 mutant in marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) during phagocytosis was observed. Thus, our study provided new insights into the function of polysaccharide synthase Cps1, which is necessary for the maintenance of cell wall stability and the adaptation of conidia to the immune response of macrophages in A. fumigatus.

        Association between expression levels and growth trait-related SNPs located in promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes in Spinibarbus hollandi

        Melanocortin 4 receptor: (MC4R) and Myostatin (MSTN) are two important growth trait-related genes in animals. In this study, we showed that two SNPs, MC4R-719A>G and MSTN-519C>T, found in the promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes, respectively, are both associated with growth traits in Spinibarbus hollandi. Furthermore, we observed that there were significant associations between the expression levels of the MC4R and MSTN genes and these two growth trait-related SNPs. The expression level of MC4R gene in brain was lower in GG genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in AA genotype fish with extremely low growth performance. Expression level of the MSTN gene in muscle was lower in TT genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in CC and CT genotype fish with lower growth performance. The results indicated that these SNPs located in the promoters of MC4R and MSTN are associated with growthrelated traits through modification of gene expression levels. The MSTN and MC4R SNPs may have useful application in effective marker-assisted selection aimed to increase output in S. hollandi.
