        Dynamic analysis of multi-functional maintenance platform based on Newton-Euler method and improved virtual work principle

        The structure design of divertor Multi-Functional Maintenance Platform (MFMP) actuated by hydraulic system for China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) was introduced in this paper. The model of MFMP was established according to maintenance requirements. In this paper, Newton-Euler method and the improved virtual work principle were used, the equivalent driving force of each actuator was obtained through the equivalent Jacobian inverse matrix derived from velocity relationship among the components. The accuracy of the model was verified by ADAMS simulation. The stability control of the heavy-duty components driven by hydraulic cylinders based on Newton-Euler method and improved virtual work principle was established.

        Analysis of oligosaccharides from Panax ginseng by using solid-phase permethylation method combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-Q-Orbitrap/mass spectrometry

        Background: The reports about valuable oligosaccharides in ginseng are quite limited. There is an urgent need to develop a practical procedure to detect and analyze ginseng oligosaccharides. Methods: The oligosaccharide extracts from ginseng were permethylated by solid-phase methylation method and then were analyzed by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-Q-Orbitrap/MS. The sequence, linkage, and configuration information of oligosaccharides were determined by using accurate m/z value and tandem mass information. Several standard references were used to further confirm the identification. The oligosaccharide composition in white ginseng and red ginseng was compared using a multivariate statistical analysis method. Results: The nonreducing oligosaccharide erlose among 12 oligosaccharides identified was reported for the first time in ginseng. In the comparison of the oligosaccharide extracts from white ginseng and red ginseng, a clear separation was observed in the partial least squares-discriminate analysis score plot, indicating the sugar differences in these two kinds of ginseng samples. The glycans with variable importance in the projection value large than 1.0 were considered to contribute most to the classification. The contents of oligosaccharides in red ginseng were lower than those in white ginseng, and the contents of maltose, maltotriose, maltotetraose, maltopentaose, maltohexaose, maltoheptaose, maltooctaose, maltononaose, sucrose, and erlose decreased significantly (p < 0.05) in red ginseng. Conclusion: A solid-phase methylation method combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was successfully applied to analyze the oligosaccharides in ginseng extracts, which provides the possibility for holistic evaluation of ginseng oligosaccharides. The comparison of oligosaccharide composition of white ginseng and red ginseng could help understand the differences in pharmacological activities between these two kinds of ginseng samples from the perspective of glycans.

        Fuzzy-PID controller for motion control of CFETR multi-functional maintenance platform

        The motion control of the divertor maintenance system of the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) was studied in this paper, in which CFETR Multi-Functional Maintenance Platform (MFMP) was simplified as a parallel robot for the convenience of theoretical analysis. In order to design the motion controller of parallel robot, the kinematics analysis of parallel robot was carried out. After that, the dynamic modeling of the hydraulic system was built. As the large variation of heavy payload on MFMP and highly nonlinearity of the system, A Fuzzy-PID controller was built for self-tuning PID controller parameters by using Fuzzy system to achieve better performance. In order to test the feasibility of the Fuzzy-PID controller, the simulation model of the system was built in Simulink. The results have showed that Fuzzy-PID controller can significantly reduce the angular error of the moving platform and provide the stable motion for transferring the divertor.

        The influence of high-temperature nitridation process on the crystalline quality of semipolar (1122) GaN epitaxial films

        Semipolar (1122) GaN epitaxial films were grown on m-plane sapphire substrates by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition and additional high-temperature nitridation was introduced during the growth. The growth mechanism, surface microtopography, and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of X-ray rocking curves (XRCs) of on-axis and off-axis (1122) GaN planes were investigated. The results demonstrate that additional high-temperature nitridation process could reduce surface roughness and anisotropy, and suppress the other orientations, and partially improve the crystalline quality of (1122) GaN epitaxial films. The XRCs FWHM of the off-axis (1122) GaN planes decrease and show a different varying tendency after additional high-temperature nitridation process associated with the partial dislocations and basal plane stacking faults (BSFs). The results of the modified Williamson-Hall (W–H) analysis and photoluminescence spectrum show the BSFs increased while the partial dislocations decreased after an additional high-temperature nitridation process. The improvement of crystalline quality was mainly correlated to the reduction of partial dislocations.

      • Development of Dual-memory Motor Drives for Electric Vehicles

        This paper proposes a dual-memory motor drive for electric vehicles (EVs). The dual-memory motor adopts a dual-magnet arrangement which incorporates two permanent magnet materials for hybrid excitation, namely neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) and aluminum-nickel-cobalt (AlNiCo). The NdFeB PMs provides the main air-gap flux, while the AlNiCo PMs can be regulated online for main flux strengthening or weakening. Therefore, the dual-memory motor drives can achieve a high starting torque by flux strengthening and extend its constant power operation range by flux weakening. Firstly, the proposed motor structure is presented. Secondly, its operation principle is discussed. Thirdly, the drive system and control scheme are developed for EVs. Finally, by using the circuit-field-torque time-stepping finite element method (CFT-TS-FEM), the performance of flux strengthening is verified, and experiments are also carried out to assess its flux weakening capability.

      • A new geopolymeric grout blended completely weathered granite with blast-furnace slag

        In order to reduce the usage of cement slurry in grouting engineering and consume the tunnel excavation waste soil, a new geopolymeric grouting material (GGM) was prepared by combine completely weathered granite (CWG) and blast-furnace slag (BFS), which can be applied to in-situ grouting treatment of completely weathered granite strata. The results showed CWG could participate in the geopolymerization process, and GGM slurry has the characteristics of short setting time, high flowability, low viscosity, high stone rate and high mechanical strength, and a design method of grouting pressure based on viscosity evolution was proposed. By adjusted the content of completely weathered granite and alkali activator concentration, the setting time of GGM were ranged from 5 to 30 minutes, the flowability was more than 23.5 cm, the stone rate was higher than 90%, the compressive strength of 28 days were 7.8-16.9 MPa, the porosity were below 30%. This provides a novel grouting treatment and utilizing excavated soil of tunnels in the similar strata.

        Electro-optic Coefficient Measurement of the Double Electro-Optic Molecules Polymer based on Terahertz Application

        In the terahertz (THz) science research field, electro-optic (EO) polymer possesses many superior characters compared with mineral crystal. Two kinds of the side group EO polymer, polyphosphazene with plmaol grained by 2, 4-dinitroaniline and polyphenylacrylate containing p-nitro bisazo group, are synthesized and characterized. For higher EO coefficient, the double EO molecules polymer thin films are prepared by mixing a small nonlinear optical (NLO) molecule into the side group EO polymer. The principles of preparation are given and the EO coefficients are tested. The effect on the EO coefficients by different mixing proportion and different poling temperature are analyzed in details. Experiments results show that the double EO molecules polymer has fine stability, higher EO coefficient and can be easily processed. This kind of material has the potential to be widely applied in the emission and detection of THz radiation.

      • Effect of Nanoparticle Size on the Interface Bond Energy in KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 / Polyimide Composites

        The effects of particle size on the interface bond energy in KTa0.5Nb0.5O3/ polyimide composites were investigated using the molecular dynamics method. The composites of polyimide and the KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 nanoparticles with different size (0.4 nm, 0.5 nm, 0.6 nm, 0.8 nm, 1.2 nm, and 1.4 nm) have been established and simulated using the Forcite program package of Materials Studio software. The calculated results show that the interface bond energy is 38~150 Kcal/mol, which indicate the Van der Waals force exist between the nanoparticle and polyimide matrix. The interface bond energy of the smaller nanoparticle is greater than the lager nanaparticle due to the size effect. The introduction of the smaller nanoparticle could generate the stronger intermolecular bonding interaction between the nanoparticle and polyimide matrix.

      • Multiple Vehicles Collaborative Data Download Protocol via Network Coding

        <P>Data services (i.e., office on wheels and entertainment on wheels) are expected to become a primary driver in the development of future connected cars. However, the sparse spatial distribution of roadside stationary units (RSUs) along the road renders the downloading of data via roadside-to-vehicle (R2V) connections intermittent. As a result, data services, particularly for those dealing with large volumes of data, may not achieve a good quality of service. In this paper, we propose a multiple-vehicle protocol for collaborative data downloading by using network coding (NC). When multiple vehicles that are approaching each other have a common interest in certain data, they can collaboratively download the data from an RSU to significantly reduce their download time. We first derive the probability mass functions (PMFs) of the downloading completion time for three downloading methods, i.e., random, feedback, and NC based, to quantify the benefits of the proposed scheme. Our analytical derivations show that, compared with random- and feedback-based methods, the proposed approach can significantly improve the download time and will remove any need for uplink communications from vehicles to the infrastructure. Moreover, we discuss the cooperative group formation issues and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) data sharing in detail. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol has a more robust performance compared with random- and feedback-based schemes. In addition, we constitute simulations to show that the proposed scheme can apply to the scenarios with dynamic network topology and imperfect V2V data sharing.</P>
