This paper analyzes Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of a wireless communication system using BPSK modulation technique with a smart antenna at base station. The channels under consideration are Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel or a slow, flat Rayleigh fading channel with AWGN. Under the assumptions that the MMSE beamformer is used and the time delays of all users are approximately equal, we first analytically derive closed-form expressions for the BER of the desired user. Then, computer simulation is carried out to verify the theoretical results.

This paper presents closed-form expressions for exact bit error rate of MSK and OQPSK systems employing an adaptive antenna array at base station to eliminate co-channel interference. The channels under consideration are AWGN and one-path flat Rayleigh fading with AWGN. Computer simulation is carried out to confirm the theoretical results.
Reduced Complexity Schnorr-Euchner Sphere Decoders in MIMO Applications

We present two techniques based on lookup tables to reduce complexity of the well-known Schnorr-Euchner (SE) sphere decoder (SD) without introducing performance degradation. By the aid of lookup tables, the computational loads caused by the SE enumeration and decision feedback are reduced at the cost of higher storage capacity. Simulation results are provided to verify performance and complexity of the proposed decoders.

In this paper, a low-complexity maximum-likelihood (ML) decoder based on QR decomposition, called real-valued LCMLDec decoder or RVLCMLDec for short, is proposed for the Vertical Bell Labs Layered Space-Time (V-BLAST) architecture, a promising candidate for providing high data rates in future fixed wireless communication systems [1]. Computer simulations, in comparison with other detection techniques, show that the proposed decoder is capable of providing the VBLAST schemes with ML performance at low detection complexity
Improved Blind Cyclic Algorithm for Detection of Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes

In this paper, we consider the detection of orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBCs) without channel state information (CSI) at the receiver. Based on the conventional blind cyclic decoder, we propose an enhanced blind cyclic decoder which has higher system performance than the conventional one. Furthermore, the proposed decoder offers low complexity since it does not require the computation of singular value decomposition.

This paper proposes an efficient detection algorithm, which is composed of an interference nulling-and cancelling-based detection algorithm and a maximum likelihood (ML) detection algorithm having reduced numbers of signal points to be tested, for the quasi-orthogonal space-time code with four transmit antennas. When high-level modulation schemes are employed, the algorithm enables the quasi-orthogonal code to achieve near ML performance with a significant reduction in the computational load.

In this paper, we present a method to evaluate the BER performance of a coherent QPSK system using an adaptive array to eliminate CCI and demonstrate closed-form expressions for obtaining exact BER of the desired user for the case in which the time delays of all users are equal. The theoretical results are verified by computer simulation under the assumption that Least Mean Square beamforming algorithm is employed.
Very Efficient Maximum-Likelihood and Sub-Optimal Decoders for V-BLAST

In this paper, a low-complexity ML decoder based on QR decomposition, called LCMLDec decoder, is proposed for the V-BLAST with 2 transmit antennas. Then, it is combined with other suboptimal interference nulling and cancelling decoders originated form QR decomposition such as sorted QR or MMSE-SQRD decoder to generate efficient decoders that significantly improve the performance of the V-BLAST with more than 2 transmit antennas, at the expense of a small increase in complexity. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performances and complexities of the proposed decoders.
