<P>An ultrathin nickel hydroxide layer electrodeposited on a carbon-coated three-dimensional porous copper structure (3D-C/Cu) is suggested as an additive and binder-free conductive electrode with short electron path distances, large electrochemical active sites, and improved structural stability, for high performance supercapacitors. The 3D-porous copper structure (3D-Cu) provides high electrical conductivity and facilitates electron transport between the Ni(OH)2 active materials and the current collector of the Ni-plate. A carbon coating was applied to the 3D-Cu to prevent the oxidation of Cu, without degrading the electron transport behavior of the 3D-Cu. The 3D-Ni(OH)2/C/Cu exhibited a high specific capacitance of 1860 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>, and good cycling performance, with an 86.5% capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles. When tested in a two-electrode system, an asymmetric supercapacitor exhibited an energy density of 147.9 W h kg<SUP>−1</SUP> and a power density of 37.0 kW kg<SUP>−1</SUP>. These results open a new area of ultrahigh-performance supercapacitors, supported by 3D-Cu electrodes.</P>

Chlorella gloriosa (Chlorellaceae, Trebouxiophyceae) was isolated from seawater off the coast of the Dokdo Islands in Korea. An axenic culture was established using the streak-plate method on f/2 agar media supplemented with antibiotics, allowing identification of the isolate by morphological, molecular, and physiological analyses. The morphological characteristics observed by light and electron microscopy revealed typical morphologies of C. gloriosa species. The molecular phylogenetic inference drawn from the small-subunit 18S rRNA sequence verified that the microalgal strain belongs to C. gloriosa. Additionally, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed that the isolate was rich in nutritionally important omega-3 and -6 polyunsaturated fatty acids and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis revealed that the high-value antioxidants lutein and violaxanthin were biosynthesized as accessory pigments by this microalga, with arabinose, galactose, and glucose as the major monosaccharides. Therefore, in this study, a Korean marine C. gloriosa species was discovered, characterized, and described, and subsequently added to the national culture collection.

Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the work performance of crank-type rotavators and compare them with those of rotary-type rotavators in Korean farmland conditions. Methods: Tillage operations were carried out using both rotavators with the same nominal rotavating width and rated power. During the operations, PTO speed and torque, actual work speed, and rotavating width and depth were measured. To evaluate work performance, pulverizing ratio, inversion ratio, and specific volumetric tilled soil were calculated and compared for each rotavator. Results: It is found that the crank-type rotavator has better specific volumetric tilled soil performance and deep tillage, while the pulverizing ratio is worse. Conclusions: Crank-type and rotary type rotavator have diffenent properties each other in several work performances. It's important, therefore, to choose a suitable type of rotavator that satisfy the farmer's requirements in accordance with the condition of field and the purpose of tillage operation.

<P>Bakanae disease (BD), caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium fujikuroi, has become a serious threat in rice-cultivating regions worldwide. In the present study, quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping was performed using F2 and F3 plants derived after crossing a BD-resistant and a BD-susceptible Korean japonica rice variety, ‘Samgwang’ and ‘Junam’, respectively. Resequencing of ‘Junam’ and ‘Samgwang’ genomes revealed 151,916 DNA polymorphisms between the two varieties. After genotyping 188 F2 plants, we constructed a genetic map comprising 184 markers, including 175 kompetitive allele-specific PCR markers, eight cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) markers, and a derived CAPS (dCAPS) marker. The degree of BD susceptibility of each F2 plant was evaluated on the basis of the mortality rate measured with corresponding F3 progeny seedlings by in vitro screening. Consequently, qFfR9, a major QTL, was discovered at 30.1 centimorgan (cM) on chromosome 9 with a logarithm of the odds score of 60.3. For the QTL interval, 95% probability lay within a 7.24-7.56 Mbp interval. In this interval, we found that eight genes exhibited non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) by comparing the ‘Junam’ and ‘Samgwang’ genome sequence data, and are possibly candidate genes for qFfR9; therefore, qFfR9 could be utilized as a valuable resource for breeding BD-resistant rice varieties.</P>

The object of this study, which was carried out from July 1, 1983 to July 31, 1984, is to analize and compare the wage of nurses in the Various hospitals in the urban communities with those of the semilar professional workers, and the result was as follows : 1. General features of nurses ① The average age is 26.41, of the nurses 57.58 percent is under 24 years old the average age of the nurses in the private hospitals(23.24) is 5.3 years younger than that of the nurses in the national or public hospitals(28.59) ② Junior nursing college graduate was 86.1 percent, of which 85.35 percent belong to the national or public hospital nurses and 87.1 percent the private hospital nurses. The percentage slows the similarity between the national or public hospitals and the priivate hospitals. It was found that the prevaling tendency of evaling to hire the nursing college graduates. ③ Of the nurses who were the object of this study 71.5 percent is unmarried 52.34 percent in the national or public hospitals and 97.85 percent in the private hospitals which prefer to employ the Unmarried to the married. ④ The average career in nurse is 2.67 years and the national o r public hospitals (3.45 year) have longer experienced nurses than the private hospitals (1.60 years). 2. Wage Level ① The average of all the unmarried nurses with less than 4 years of experience is 345, 348 won a month. ② Wage index is as follows (100 as total monthly average wages): (a) The national or public hospitals : 88.10 (b) The private hospitals : 107.0 The difference between (a) and (b) is shown as 19.00

<P>In this work, we prepared 90 nm thick Ti3C2Tx-graphene oxide (GO) membranes laminated on a porous support by mixing GO with Ti3C2Tx. This process was chosen to prevent the penetration of target molecules through inter-edge defects or voids with poor packing. The lattice period of the prepared membrane was 14.28 angstrom, as being swelled with water, resulting in an effective interlayer spacing of around 5 angstrom, which corresponds to two layers of water molecules. The composite membranes effectively rejected dye molecules with hydrated radii above 5 angstrom, as well as positively charged dye molecules, during pressure-driven filtration at bar. Rejection rates were 68% for methyl red, 99.5% for methylene blue, 93.5% for rose Bengal, and 100% for brilliant blue (hydrated radii of 4.87, 5.04, 5.88, and 7.98 angstrom, respectively). Additionally, the rejections of composite membrane were compared with GO membrane and Ti3C2Tx membrane.</P>
