The synthesis and excited-state dynamics are described for a tetrad (ZC - ZP - ZP - I) consisting of zinc chlorin (ZC), zinc porphyrin (ZP), zinc porphyrin (ZP), and pyromellitimide (I), which upon photoexcitation provides a fully charge-separated state (ZC$^+$- P - ZP - l$^- $) with lifetimes of 230 $\mu$s in THF and > 50$ \mu$s in DMF at room temperature via a stepwise electron-transfer relay that has been detected by the ps-time resolved transient absorption spectroscopy.

FDNet is one of the middle wares designed to imitate a human nervous network. The result of the FDNet was implementation of human"s foot groping skills into a leg robot. The next stage is a plan to construct a minimum unit of the human cognitive structure by FDNet. This paper shows the design method of the module robot with the minimum unit which we made use of a characteristic of FDNet in. And then, the result by experimental robots shows design of the module robot.
A surface shape measurement method using a self-shape sensor “Flexible Sensor Tube”

This study describes surface shape measurements using a Flexible Sensor Tube(FST). The FST is also a sensor for measuring self-shape. The sensor consists of many short links, and each link connects by a rotational joint connects each link with a potentiometer as an angular position sensor. Consequently, we can geometrically measure the sensor’s shape. We proposed a method for measuring the surface shape of an object by stroking it with this FST. A waterproof FST was developed, and the proposed technique was evaluated, focusing on its use in dredge construction. Therefore, we demonstrated that the newly developed FST measures surface shapes.
An Educational Methodology for Sustainable Development

It is required to solve various environmental and social problems and achieve ‘sustainable development (SD).’ Education is critical for promoting SD. Here we approach ‘education for sustainable development (ESD)’ from the viewpoint of ‘control.’ First, we show the control system for SD, identifying necessary elements such as controlled objects, controlled variables and control objectives. Next, we provide a methodology of ESD, showing the procedure forcreating educational programs as well as the educational elements that such programs should contain. Moreover, we present a case study, whose results have confirmed the validity of this methodology.
Control Design Method of Semi-Active Suspensions with Actuators

Semi-active suspension systems which adjust the damping coefficients of the shock absorbers have been widely researched to improve the ride quality. But the property of the actuator is almost ignored because the system becomes nonlinear and it is difficult to design a controller. In this research, a backstepping method is introduced to combine H∞, control for frequency shaping with nonlinear control for actuators, Furthermore, a velocity-dependent nonlinear weight on the control error in backstepping is proposed to improve the control property. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by some simulation results.
Maneuverability of Flexible Mono-tread Mobile Track(FMT)

In the past decade, search robots in rescue operations have been focused on and developed for the purpose of finding survivors trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings. Most of them adopt serpentine Mechanisms. However, they might gather to catch debris between tracks or become stuck due to the mechanisms. To get over the problems, a new mobile mechanism have been proposed: flexible mono-tread mobile track (FMT), and a prototype "Rescue mobile track No.2(RT-02) WORM" was developed. The machine is composed of a "flexible chain" and vertebral structure, the body flexes in 3D. As a result of the specific turning mechanism, steering performance of FMT is different from the usual differential-type tracked vehicle (DTV). The purpose of this paper si to show the maneuverability of FMT comparing with that of DTV through some experiments.
