Motion Analysis of Mother's Embracing and Rocking a Baby and Development of Excitation Apparatus

Recently, the people who are under a lot of stress have increased. Too much stress may cause various physical and/or mental disorders. The final aim of our project is to develop a relaxation machine for reducing stress by using rocking vibration. As rocking vibration, motion of a mother"s embracing and rocking of a baby is adopted. In this paper, we analyze the motion of the mother"s embracing and rocking of a baby using a 3D motion capture system, and design and manufacture an excitation apparatus simulating the mother"s motions. It is found from the experimental analysis that there are two types of the mother"s motions. The both motions consist of linear motion and rotational motion. The excitation apparatus has two degrees-of freedom for linear and rotational motions.
Coercivity Recovery Effect of Sm-Fe-Cu-Al Alloy on Sm2Fe17N3 Magnet

The potential of a Sm-Fe-Cu-Al binder for improvement of the magnetic properties of Sm2Fe17N3 was examined. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) observation of a Sm-Fe-Cu-Al alloy-bonded Sm2Fe17N3 magnet which showed high coercivity revealed that the Sm-Fe-Cu-Al alloy had an effect of removing the surface oxide layer of the Sm2 Fe17N3 grains. However, the Sm-Fe-Cu-Al binder was contaminated by carbon and nitrogen, which originated from the organic solvent used as the milling medium during pulverization. To prevent carbon and nitrogen contamination, the Sm-Fe- Cu-Al alloy was added directly on the surface of the Sm2Fe17N3 grains by sputtering. Comparing the recovered coercivity per unit amount of the added binder the uncontaminated binder-coated sample had a higher coercivity recovery effect than the milled binder-added sample. These results suggested that sufficient addition of the contamination-free Sm-Fe-Cu-Al binder has the possibility to reduce the amount of binder necessary to produce a high coercive Sm2Fe17N3 magnet.
Effect of the covariance matrix of the Kalman filter used for optical flow estimation

In this study, we propose a method of observing the velocity of a target object using the spatio-temporal differentiation method which has lower calculation cost. Estimating and recognizing the position and velocity of the target object by motion image processing using a Kalman filter. However, while the spatio-temporal differentiation method can observe the velocity at low cost, it has a feature that when the velocity of the target object is large, the error included in the observed value becomes large. Therefore, the velocity of the target object is observed by the spatio-temporal differentiation method which introduced the compensation method. In the compensation method, how to determine the compensation amount is important, but by determining the amount based on the prediction of the Kalman filter, the error included in the observation value can be reduced. In this way, the recognition of the target object by the Kalman filter is facilitated by using the observed value of velocity, and the error of the observed value can be reduced by determining the compensation amount using the predicted value by the Kalman filter. It is expected that more stable results will be obtained than the observation by spatio-temporal differentiation method. At that time, the execution result changes by changing the variance value of the Kalman filter. Therefore, in this study, we examine how to set the covariance matrix of the Kalman filter.
Numerical Study on Supersonic Mixing Enhancement with a Ramp Injector and a Cavity

In the present study, supersonic mixing enhancement has been investigated computationally for a SCRAM-jet engine model combustor with a swept ramp injector and a cavity. The calculation condition of the main stream are Ma = 3.96, total pressure 1.27 MPa and total temperature 283 K. In order to enhance the mixing among fuel and air a cavity is placed downstream of the ramp injector. The position and geometry of the cavity plays an important role in mixing efficiency. Therefore L/D and the Length from the ramp to the cavity have been varied. From numerical results. the mixing efficiency was the highest when L/D =2, but the total pressure loss was also the highest compared to L/D= 1,3 and 4.

Although beneficial effects of dietary plant proteins on lipid metabolism are well documented, not much information exists on the influence of different seafood proteins on the lipid metabolism. The present study evaluated the effect of 2 marine proteins (tuna protein and scallop ovary proteins) in comparison to casein and soy protein in male Wistar rats. The concentration of total lipids in the plasma of rats fed experimental diets was significantly lower from that of control (278.2 ㎎/㎗) group (p<0.05); and, the liver lipid content was not significantly different (p>0.05). Fecal excretion of cholesterol and bile acids was significantly higher in marine proteins and soy protein fed groups compared to casein only fed control (6.1 and 6.4 ㎎/day, respectively) group (p<0.05). No significant differences were observed in the mRNA concentrations of different transcriptional factors (p>0.05).
