        Steady-State Harmonic Domain Matrix-Based Modeling of Four-Quadrant EMU Line Converter

        As a non-linear time variant system, the four-quadrant line converter of an electric multiple unit (EMU) was expressed by linear time periodic functions near an operating point and modeled by a steady-state harmonic domain matrix. The components were then combined according to the circuit connection and relations of the feedback control loops to form a complete converter model. The proposed modeling method allows the study of the amplitude of harmonic impedances to explore harmonic coupling. Moreover, the proposed method helps provide a better design for the converter controllers, as well as solves the problem in coordination operation between the EMUs and the AC supply. On-site data from an actual $CRH_2$ high-speed train were used to validate the modeling principles presented in the paper.

        Ganoderic acid A attenuates high‑fat‑diet‑induced liver injury in rats by regulating the lipid oxidation and liver inflammation

        Ganoderic Acid A (GA) has many pharmacologicaleffects such as anti-tumor, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory,and immunosuppressive effects. However, the protectiveeffect of GA on liver injury has not been reported. Thisstudy aimed to investigate the action of GA on insufficientmethionine and choline combined with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in rats. NAFLD model was established by insufficient methionineand choline combined with high fat feeding to rats. The levelsof Acetyl-CoA carboxylase, fatty acid synthase, sterolregulatory element binding protein, liver X receptors, AMPactivatedprotein kinase, peroxisome proliferator-activatedreceptor α, PPARg coactivator 1α and NF-κB pathway inthe liver were detected by western blot. The results of thisstudy demonstrated that the expression of GA can not onlysignificantly decrease the live weight and liver weight perbody weight of HFD mice, but also restore the alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubinlevels, triglyceride and cholesterol in serum. In addition,the expression of GA increased the levels of high-densitylipoprotein cholesterol in serum, ameliorated pathologicalchanges and decreased NAS score of mice’s liver. In conclusion,the treatment with GA could improve NAFLD in ratsby regulating the levels of signaling events involved in freefatty acid production, lipid oxidation and liver inflammation.

        Polyurethane Membrane with Temperature- and pH-Controllable Permeability for Amino-Acids

        This work was focused on the investigation of the temperature- and pH-responsive polyurethane (PU)membranes and their permeability to amino-acids in response to environmental stimuli. The PU membrane wasprepared from a wet phase inversion method and a two-step solution polymerization from polycaprolactone diols(PCL), 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), etc. The chemical structure,phase state, morphology and surface wettability of the membrane were characterized with Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectrometer, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contactangle tester, respectively. The temperature and pH responses of the membrane were investigated by means of anamino-acid permeate experiment. The L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) was chosen as model amino-acids. The permeation of theL-Phe was measured using a dead-end flow filtration at varied temperatures and pH, and characterized by the permeateflux (J) and rejection coefficient (R). J of the L-Phe across the PU membrane increased with increasingtemperature and showed a sharp increase when temperature was raised to the crystalline melting temperature (Tm)of the soft segment of PU, while decreased with increasing pH and having a sharp decrease when pH reached thedissociation constant (pKa) of DMPA contained in PU macromolecules. While, the R behavior of L-Phe was justopposite from the results of J, which decreased with increasing temperature and increased with increasing pH,also showing the temperature and pH responses. Hopefully, the PU membrane with temperature- and pH-controllablepermeability has promising prospects in water treatment, membrane separation, drug delivery system, etc.
