High-density (1.x)(Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-xLiTaO3 [(1.x)NKN.xLT] ceramics with x = 0 . 0.2 were successfully fabricated by spark-plasma sintering (SPS). The effect of SPS on the microstructure and the piezoelectric properties of the fabricated NKN-LT ceramics are discussed and compared with those of the same NKN-LT ceramics prepared by conventional mixed-oxide ceramic processing. The morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between the orthorhombic and tetragonal phases for the NKN-LT series was found to be in the vicinity of x = 0.06 . 0.08. The MPB was shifted to the slightly LT-rich side of that previously reported by excess addition of 2.5 mol% K2CO3. The dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the NKN-LT ceramics fabricated by using the SPS process were excellent compared to those for the conventionally prepared sample. The values of "T 33/"0, kp and Pr were 1.9, 1.4 and 2.3 times larger than the values for the conventionally prepared sample, respectively. These improvements in the ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of the present ceramics are shown to originate from both the slight excess addition of K2CO3 and the particle orientation imparted by SPS.

Anthocyanin, an important component in the grape berry skin, strongly affects grape quality. The transcription factors VvMYBA1 and VvMYBA2 (VvMYBA1/2) control anthocyanin biosynthesis. In addition, cultivation and environmental factors, such as light, influence anthocyanin accumulation. The present study aimed to clarify the effect of shading (reduced light condition) on the transcriptomic regulation of anthocyanin biosynthesis using a red-wine grape cultivar, Vitis vinifera ‘Pinot Noir’, and its white mutant, ‘Pinot Blanc’, caused by the deletion of the red allele of VvMYBA1/2. The grape berry skins were analyzed for anthocyanin content and global gene transcription accumulation. The microarray data were later validated by quantitative real-time PCR. A decisive influence of VvMYBA1/2 on the expression of an anthocyanin-specific gene, UDP glucose: flavonoid 3-O-glucosyltransferase, was observed as expected. In contrast, upstream genes of the pathway, which are shared by other flavonoids, were also expressed in ‘Pinot Blanc’, and the mRNA levels of some of these genes decreased in both cultivars on shading. Thus, the involvement of lightsensitive transcription factor(s) other than VvMYBA1/2 was suggested for the expression control of the upstream genes of the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway. Furthermore, it was suggested that the effects of these factors are different among isogenes.

GTL is a liquid state in the normal temperature and pressure. It has high cetane number and other properties of it are comparable with that of diesel fuel. Therefore GTL can be alternative fuel of compression ignition engine. Furthermore, there is little sulfur and aromatic, so clean exhaust emission of diesel engine fueled with GTL can be expected.<br/> In this study, engine performances and exhaust emissions characteristics of compression ignition engine fueled with GTL were investigated by comparison with diesel fuel.<br/> Diesel engine could be operated fueled with GTL without any special modify for the test engine. With the high cetane number of GTL, the ignition lag was shorter. and the combustion started earlier than that of diesel fuel Brake thermal efficiency operated with GTL increased at middle load conditions, because incomplete combustion emission such as CO and THC were lower than that of diesel fuel operation. NOx emission operated with GTL was comparable to diesel fuel. and there was a little decrease at high load. With GTL, soot emission was lower than with diesel fuel at above middle load condition. It seemed to be a reason of soot reduction Ihallhere was little sulphur contained in GTL.<br/>
